Good morning friends!
It's time for the Elizabeth Craft Designs May Designer Challenge, and the challenge was to create a Flat A2 size card (4-1/4 x 5-1/2").
I made three.
Each one uses the same colour scheme ... taupe and white ... and the same layout. I wanted to show you how you can use the same Elizabeth Craft Designs products to create wonderful Clean and Simple cards all the way up to layered and detailed. First up is the CAS card:
I used a lovely textured taupe card stock and made a top fold A2 sized card. I die cut the largest snowflake from another piece of the taupe card stock and added small pieces of foam tape so it would pop up from the card base. This creates shadows and interest. Then I used a corner rounder on the bottom two corners. Done. Simple. Easy. Elegant.
A set of these would be beautiful for gift giving, making each card a different colour!
Next up is a card that uses the shadow effect a different way. I cut the same snowflake die from the same colour of card stock, but raised up the whole panel onto a slightly larger white panel. This creates a shadowbox look. Inside the large snowflake - onto the white panel below - I added a snowflake Peel-Off sticker. This shimmers and shines and catches the light.
I added another taupe layer - this one is lightly printed - and attached everything to the white top fold card base. Merry Christmas was die cut from white card stock and adhered below the snowflake with a glue pen. I added a Glitter Dot above the 'i' in Christmas. (Note - watch you don't toss that piece out when you are taking the pieces out of your die. Guess how I know!)
My third card is a REALLY shimmery one, perfect for the holidays. Same layout and colour scheme, but instead of white card stock on the top panel I used a white iridescent Shimmer Sheet that was embossed with one of the new ECD embossing folders. That was attached to a taupe panel, and the panel was adhered to the front of a top fold white A2 card.
I cut several snowflakes in two of the three sizes - from both the taupe card stock and the Shimmer Sheetz. They cut no problem, but remember to use the metal shim when cutting the Shimmer Sheetz. The snowflakes were layered together with the taupe ones under the Shimmer Sheetz using small pieces of foam tape, then I layered them together with more foam tape.
And just because I love them SO much ... I added some Glitter Dots to each of the snowflakes. I also outlined the Shimmer Sheetz panel with gold/silver Peel-Off border stickers.
See the Merry Christmas? I die cut it five times. Three times from white card stock, once from taupe and once from the Shimmer Sheetz. Then I attached them one on top of the other, with the three white ones at the bottom and the Shimmer Sheetz one on the top. This makes the words nice and thick, and they stand out from the background creating ... shadows.
Finally, here is a look at all three cards together. Haha, I didn't line them up very well so they don't LOOK like they are the same size. But they are all top fold A2 sized cards.
Be sure to check out the other Designers (see my blog-roll on the right) to see what they've come up with for the challenge, and Joset will have a big group post at the end of the month. You will find that on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog by clicking HERE.
