Pretty Mug Pop 'n Cut Card

Wow - it's hard to believe this is the last day of 2013.  I'd like to take a moment and wish each and every one of you a wonderful New Year.

My card share today is one I made and sent to my Mom when I was visiting Arizona last month. I like to send her 'Happy Mail', and whenever I have a new die I usually send her the first card I make with it.

I loved this paper, not just because I ADORE the colours, but it has sparkly embossed areas too. I fussy cut one of the blooms from a scrap of the same paper and popped it up over the sheer flower embellishment.

I haven't had much time to play with this 'Mug & Heart' Pop 'n Cut insert - but I love it and am looking forward to making more with it. I have loads of tea and coffee themed stamps that will work with the mug, but for this one I opted for a simple sentiment.

I added a die cut swirly heart to mimic steam coming from the mug, and fussy cut the green border strip from a piece of patterned paper.

Doggie Feel Better Card

Good morning friends!

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and I wanted to share the card I made for my Dad. He loves dogs, and asks about our three every time we visit him in the hospital.

I like using Kraft card stock, so was happy to find these larger (5-1/2 x 6") cards and envelopes at Hobby Lobby.  I added matted panels and die cut the grass out of green patterned paper from my stash.

The dog was die cut from plaid sparkly paper and some scraps, and I used my iRock tool to adhere 3 green gems to the collar.

The dog was popped up with foam tape, and I added a white panel inside to write our message and sign our names. He was happy with his card, and it's on display with the many other get well wishes he has received.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Scottie Dog Christmas Cards & Tags

I don't have a lot new to report on my Dad. He remains in hospital - in fact he had another fall there on Christmas Day night.. This time he was trying to climb out of the bed, but he cannot bear weight yet so down he went. It happened during the night, so when we visited him on Boxing Day we were quite surprised to see him with a big stitched gash on his nose. They did Xrays on him and there was thankfully no sign of a concussion. He's going to be turning all kinds of pretty colours in the coming days though, because of blood thinners and bruising.  Today is his 20th day in the hospital.

Because I didn't get to share all my 2013 Christmas cards, here are a couple that I made for my dog-loving friends:

These cards are the larger, 5-1/2" x 6" size. I added matted pattern paper panels and stamped the words with red ink right onto the top layer.  I ADORE this Scottie dog die, and for these cards I cut him out of kraft & black dotted paper then fashioned a glittery red coat by hand.  I love this red sparkly paper SO much I save all but the smallest of scraps. I was able to punch two circles from those scraps for ornaments. I stamped the ornament hanger (Impress), popped up the punched circle then added some glitter glue.

I added a glittery black brad for his eye ...

... and tied a Bakers Twine bow to sit on the punched holly.

Just for fun, I also made two tags.  The dog was die cut twice for each tag, once from Kraft card stock and once from the patterned Kraft paper.  The patterned paper dog was popped up onto the Kraft base with lots of foam tape once he was done, and the bakers twine loop ties were sandwiched between the two layers.

Square Gift Pocket Card

This was a project I did in August, but never did get it posted.  Because my Mom was struggling to catch her breath - we all decided to chip in and give her $$ to hire a house keeper and give the condo a really good cleaning.  I made this 6" square Gift Pocket card to tuck all the money in ...

How PERFECT is this patterned paper? I was tickled to see this sheet in in the package I had ordered from the Stampin' Up Clearance Rack.

The pocket was popped up along both sides and the bottom with foam tape so we would have room to stuff in the bills.  :-)

I fussy cut the broom out of one of the scraps to add at the top center of the panel where we all signed our names.

I'm happy to say that the gift was a success and my Mom was really surprised and happy with it.

Sewing Room Tag

Hello friends - today's share is a vintage looking tag-card I made for a friend. I used a several different dies for it, and I attached it to a loom knit piece I'd made especially for her.

I used the largest Sassy Label Framelit for the tag-card base, and added the stitching lines to the front one with the coordinating Sassy Label Stitched Framelit - both sets by Karen Burniston.

The dress form and spools were cut a couple of times - from Kraft and from patterned papers, and after trimming all the edges were inked before assembling.

I folded the Kraft card stock and cut it with the Sassy Label die, keeping the fold line just inside the top of the die. The patterned paper was cut with the same Sassy Label die and attached to the front. I then scored the back panel about 1/2" below the fold line.

This label die is my favourite one in the set - it's so versatile!

I still have quite a few Christmas cards to share, but I think I'm ready to take a few days off of Christmas.  I'll post them in the coming weeks.

Sassy Framelits - Karen Burniston (Sizzix)

Ornament Pop 'n Cut Cards

Merry Christmas!!

I scheduled this post because I knew I wouldn't likely be on the computer today.  :-)  I'm looking forward to spending time with family, watching Olivia and Ethan enjoy their new Christmas goodies, and we will all visit my Dad in the hospital.

I have used the Tim Holtz ornament die frequently on my Christmas cards, but I've never stacked the two ornaments together before as I did on the card on the right.  I really liked how it turned out and I made a few more that I will share another day. Both ornaments were cut out of red sparkly paper, the smaller one was layered over the long ornament and attached with foam tape, then I outlined the edges with Stickles. Really - can you have too much sparkle on a Christmas card? I certainly don't think so.  :-)

On this first card, I was able to 'hang' 3 of the smaller ornaments in the sticker package on a strip of sparkly patterned paper.

Everything about these cards sparkle ... there is glitter embedded in some of the papers, or they have embossed and shiny areas. It's always hard to capture that on camera though.

Look how cool the ornaments look when stacked with the short one over the long one - love it!  Both cards are Pop 'n Cut cards, using Karen Burniston's A2 Pop 'n Cut die with the Funky Label insert.

The stickers are by K&Co ... I found them on clearance after the holidays last year and I'm so glad I did because they animate perfectly on the Pop 'n Cut inserts!

I hope you enjoy your day, no matter how you celebrate.

Two More Deer Christmas Cards

Good morning friends.  I have two more older cards to share today, made using the wonderful Tim Holtz deer die with bits & pieces from my stash ...

This 2nd deer was cut from heavy white glitter paper. I white embossed the words on the kraft/white panel and tied red Bakers twine around the deer's neck.

Simple Poinsettia Pop 'n Cut Card

Good morning friends!

Today's share is a ridiculously simple Pop 'n Cut card, that turned out fabulous. When you use beautiful papers and pre-made embellishments, a card like this comes together quickly but is very impressive for the recipient.

I used Karen Burniston's Pop 'n Cut dies for the card itself, cutting it from paper with a beautiful pearlized shimmer to it.

I cut 1/2" off the top and bottom edge of the inside panel, which was cut using the Funky Label insert. Once the inside panel was attached to the card base, I aded a strip of sparkly paper from the same paper stack to the top and bottom edges.

The Merry Christmas was actually printed on the paper, so I just stamped the words on the bottom panel. The lovely poinsettia sticker was attached to the pop-out panel and the card was done.

Four Chipboard Christmas Tags

Good morning friends.  I have a quick post today ...  Christmas tags made using chipboard stickers:

The chipboard sticker embellishments came from the Dollar Store, and I layered them with various die cuts, card stocks, ribbon bits and other goodies from my stash to create these four tags.

The 'for You' stamp is by MFT ...
