Elizabeth Craft Designs December Designer Challenge

Good morning friends

Today is a big day ... it's time for the December Designer Challenge at Elizabeth Craft Designs! This will be the last Designer Challenge with the current ECD Design Team - I can't believe how quickly the time went by.

Joset's challenge this month was to use "Shimmer Sheetz and Glitter" - both are staples in the Elizabeth Craft Designs product line. We were also to use their new Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape - which is a fabulous product. I've been doing so much Christmas lately, I wanted to create something different for the challenge and came up with this pretty tag.

I love making tags, and the new Tags & More dies make it so easy to create a variety of tags. My tag today uses the Tags & More 1 - Lace.  These dies cut just the top so your tag can be as long as you want it to be.  I was using a 6 x 6" paper stack, so my tag is 3-1/4 x 6".

The new Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Tape is transparent, so I added a strip to the front of the same patterned paper as I cut the decorative tag from and added Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. When it was polished in with my fingers, I was left with a subtly patterned glitter paper. Perfect! I cut two strips from this paper, one for the top and one for the bottom edge. The top one was then cut with the pretty lacy decorator die from the Tags & More - 1 Lace set.

The dragonfly silhouette was cut from Pink Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz, and I cut the overlay from another piece of the glittered patterned paper. I love how the Shimmer Sheetz catches the light when the card is turned - it's so unexpected when you first look at the tag. The dragonfly was popped up onto another die cut tag which was also popped up with foam tape onto the base tag.

I added a piece of the transparent double sided adhesive tape to another piece of the same Shimmer Sheetz and die cut the word HELLO. Note, I used the metal adapter plate for the Shimmer Sheetz die cutting.

Then, since the challenge seemed to lend itself to 'Shimmer and Shine', I added Glitter Dots and gold Peel-Off borders.

It's been an honour to have been on the Design Team for Elizabeth Craft Designs this year - be sure to  follow ECD on FaceBook to keep up on all the happenings in the New Year. I'm sure there will be lots of exciting new product and probably some new faces too!

THANK YOU to Els and Joset for this wonderful opportunity. It was a pleasure getting to know you and your wonderful products.

Love Notes for the GrandKids

Good morning friends!

Every year my Mom does a stocking for me and I do one for her. They are exchanged on December 1st, and we can open a gift every day or every other day (depending on how many gifts were put in that year) up until Christmas. It's such a fun tradition!  In fact, I loved it so much that when each of our kids moved out, they started getting their stockings on December 1st too.

This year I added some cards in my Mom's stocking ... these Love Notes were wrapped up for her to open one day so she can mail them to her Great Grandkids.  (There were stamps on another day).

I used that adorable dog stamp and die set from Simon Says Stamps for the boys cards, and some journal cards that came in the paper stack I used for the patterned papers.

This 'Sweetie Pie' journal card makes a sweet card for our Olivia.

Just simple A2 cards, but the grandkids love getting Happy Mail and my Mom can write them a special message inside before she mails them.

Supplies:
Confetti card stock
Patterned paper & journal cards - Crate Paper
Dog stamp & die - Simon Says Stamps
Coloured Pencils, Gamsol and Blending Stump

You are SNOW Wonderful

Good morning friends

I have a fun wintery card to share today, using the Katie Label Pivot card and Chilly the Penguin ... both dies by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

The blue card was embossed with the new Snowflakes embossing folder from Elizabeth Craft Designs, and I styled Chilly without all the pieces as Karen B showed on a couple of her YouTube videos.

I layered a snowbank cut with the Outdoor Edges over a sheet of blue snowflake patterned paper and cut it with the Katie Label Pivot. A few snips of excess material and it was glued to the front Katie Pivot for a perfect fit.

I used the outdoor edges to cut another white snowbank for inside the card, and it was embossed with the same snowflakes embossing folder.  The words were computer generated and I added a die cut snowflake over the 'O' in SNOW.

I'm loving this way of styling Chilly, and made about a dozen of them to have ready for different projects.

Green Glossy Christmas Card Duo

Good morning friends

I'm nearing the end of my Christmas Card shares ... while I do work on holiday cards all year long, I won't be posting as many as I have this month.

Today's cards were made with a Scalloped Edge Card die by Sizzix - I love that front scalloped edge. I cut the green panels again with the same die, cutting only the front. Then I trimmed a little off each side and the top leaving a white mat.

The layered label die is an older one by Karen Burniston - I still think it's one of my favourites.  I added it to another Sizzix label die for contrast and stamped the words inside the oval.  The green patterned paper has a glossy print on it that catches the light and is just perfect for the holidays.

Supplies:
Scalloped Edge Card - Sizzix
Label - Prima Estate - Sizzix
Fancy Label - Karen Burniston - Sizzix
White card stock

Glittering Snowman Holiday Card

Good morning friends

Now that all those Post-It labels are gone from my new Craft Room, I can start to tidy up some of the little piles that have been accumulating.

Today's share is a Christmas card made using bits and pieces from my stamping table.  When I first purchased the new Elizabeth Craft Designs Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Sheets, I wanted to try the ECD Silk Microfine Glitter over stamping. Worked like a charm!  Because it is transparent, my snowmen are as white as the card stock layer on the other side of the double sided adhesive sheet.  I immediately fussy cut a couple of these sparkly, stamped snowmen but didn't have a chance to do anything else with them.  When I saw these scraps of patterned paper in the same colours as I had coloured one of the snowman I knew I had a card in the making.

This is a larger card - 5-1/2 x 6".  I make my Mom's Christmas cards for her every year, and she usually prefers flat cards instead of pop-ups so this is the first one I have ready for her for next year. (For some reason the blue on the card stock panel looks very turquoise ... it is from the same paper stack and matches the card much better than it looks in the photo.)

I added some black glitter dots for eyes and buttons, and red ones around the holly.  You know I love those Glitter Dots! The glittered snowman was coloured with Copic markers.

Supplies:
White folded card
White card stock
Blue card stock and patterned paper - SEI
Snowman - Hero Arts
Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Sheets - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Glitter Dots (Red and Black) - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Copic Markers

Holly & Deer Flip-It Card Duo

Good morning friends

It was very strange not really celebrating Christmas yesterday. Very strange. The good news is that I am slowly getting over the flu and hubby is starting to get better too. (The flu hit him on Tuesday evening.)  Since I can keep my head up for more than a few minutes at a time, I used my labeller and added labels to the drawers in my new Craft Room. Until I knew everything I put away was going to stay where I put it, I was using Post-It notes. Which were actually quite jarring to the eye, against the white drawers. The labels are much cleaner and easier to read. One more bank of drawers and a few boxes in the red cabinet and everything will be labelled. Woot!

I have a few more Christmas cards to share before I'm done for the year;  today's share are two Flip-It cards with that sweet deer stamp I used a few weeks ago:

This time I perched a cardinal on her back for a pop of colour.

These cards just make me happy!

Supplies:
Fancy Edge Flip-It - Stephanie Barnard (The Stamps of Life)
Stamps & dies - W Plus 9
Patterned paper - Anna Griffin (Holly) and Echo Park (Striped)
Confetti card stock
Card size - A2

Christmas Ornament Pop Up Card Duo

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!

I have a couple of days worth of scheduled posts (including this one) thinking it would free me up to spend time with the family. However, I'm down with the flu and we've had to postpone Christmas until I recover.

I have a couple of older Christmas cards to share - that I made early last year using Karen Burniston's Pop 'n Cut dies.  I also layered Tim Holtz' ornament dies together to create a larger, layered Christmas tree decoration and added glitter glue to the edges.

Here is the first card ... the paper has embedded glossy and glittered areas, and I added an acetate snowflake to the centre of the ornament.

Inside is embossed and sparkly paper with a pretty 3-d sticker attached to the Pop Up portion.

The second card was made almost identical ...

... only I used a different sticker on the inside.

Supplies (the ones I can remember)
A2 Pop 'n Cut base with the Funky Label insert - Pop 'n Cuts, Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Funky Label Framelits - Pop 'n Cuts, Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Fancy Frame - Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Christmas Ornaments - Tim Holtz (Sizzix)
3-d stickers - K & Co
Word stamp - My Favorite Things
Patterned paper - unknown

Snowflakes Pull Card

Good morning friends

I have another card to share today, using Karen Burniston's Spiral Circle Pull Card die.

I trimmed the patterned paper to fit on the left side of the card with a small border of the card showing, and this covered up the notches that normally hold the SCPC in the closed position. Yet another option you have with this die!

There are gold foiled bits in the patterned paper, so I added glittered snowflake embellishments and a Merry Christmas Peel Off in gold. Just for fun, I also added red Glitter Dots to the gold snowflake and a white/gold one to the red snowflake.

Inside I used an SCPC circle and nesting circle dies to create the layers and stamped the words on the top white circle. The blank white circle is hidden when the card is closed, and is where I signed our names when I mailed the card.

Supplies:
916 Spiral Circle Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
7018 Glitter Dots - Elizabeth Craft Designs
2576 Merry Christmas Large Peel Off - Elizabeth Craft Designs
White card stock
Red textured card stock - stash
Patterned paper - DCWV
Glittered snowflake embellishments - Recollections
Circle Dies - Spellbinders

Dog Tags for Christmas

Good morning friends

I have a bin full of hand made tags for the holidays.  Somewhere in a box, somewhere in our basement. I tried to find them, but to no avail. Which means, they will turn up probably in January. Ahhh, the joys of moving.

I ended up buying a package of pre-made tags (gasp), but did make these 4 to add to gifts for a few special people.

These dog stamp and dies finally got inked - and I added black Glitter Dots for noses. You can stamp whatever colour sweater you want ... aren't they cute?

Supplies:
White card stock
Tag dies - Sizzix
Dog stamps and dies - Papertrey Ink
7018 Glitter Dots in black - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Bakers Twine - Ruby Rock-It

Sparkling Stocking Christmas Card

Good morning friends!

I have another stocking card to share today - I think this one is my favourite one. I just love the aqua and red colour combo.

I used the stocking die by Elizabeth Craft Designs, cutting the heel & toe from pearlized card stock the cuff from a scrap of sparkly paper. The cuff was also decorated with a sparkling poinsettia sticker.

The polka dot panel was layered onto the striped one with foam tape, then I tied red Bakers Twine around both layers before attaching the stocking with more foam tape.

I decorated the inside with another panel of that pretty striped paper and stamped the greeting on a smaller white panel.

Supplies:
White card stock
Patterned paper - stash
3-d Poinsettia stickers - Jolees
Glitter paper scrap (Cuff)
Pearlized white Bazill (toe and heel) scrap
Inside stamp - Papertrey Ink
Bakers Twine
Glitter Glue
Card size - A2

Christmas Tag Pull Card

Good morning friends!

I know it's Saturday, and usually that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. However, we are taking a little break to spend time with our families and we will be back in the New Year with fun new challenges. So today, I have a Christmas 'Z-Fold' pull card to share that I made for the holidays ... not for a challenge!

The patterned paper has beautiful gold foiled bits in it. I fussy cut two tags from a sheet of paper in the same stack, and sandwiched the circle portion of the Spiral Circle Pull Card in between them. The notches keep the card in the closed position, and when the recipient pulls the card open the circle flips around to reveal the second tag.

I added some red Glitter Dots (What? Who me?) and a die cut snowflake that was sitting on my stamping desk.  The SCPC comes with several decorator dies, including two snowflakes - this is one of them.

Supplies
Spiral Circle Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Patterned paper (and tags) - DCWV
Glitter Dots (red/gold) - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Red seam binding
Word stamp - Stampin' Up
Red textured card stock - Bazzill
White card stock
Card size - A2
