Dressed Up Pumpkin Halloween Card

Good morning friends

This is probably one of my favourite Halloween cards - even though it isn't a Pop-Up. I made it very soon after we received Karen Burniston's new Halloween Collection, but saved the card to post closer to Halloween.

I decorated the inside as well - thinking it would be a fun surprise when the card is opened.

Mummy Halloween Card

Good morning friends

I found this inked and embossed background panel in my stash, and decided to USE it and make a Halloween card. It's always such a good feeling to use something that you've been hanging onto ... done and done!

Inside, rather than have it be a simple flat card, I added the spinner from the Rectangle Pull Card to animate this fun Mummy sticker. Takes only a few minutes, but you get a card with some oomph!

Supplies:
White card stock
Orange card stock
Embossing folder - Cuttlebug
Rectangle Pull Card (Spinner,  Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
3-D Stickers - Recollections
Stamp inside - Michaels

Olivia's Midnight the Bat Card

Good morning friends

Our Granddaughter loves PINK and PURPLE ... and she will tell you with vehemence if you ask her what her favourite colours are. I chose not to add pink onto her Halloween card, but did make a purple pearlized Midnight the Bat!

The background was lightly stencilled with the new Bats Stage it Stencil by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs, then the piece was cut with one of the new Labels and Circles dies. I added some black Glitter Dots on her eyes and stamped Trick or Treat from the Halloween Clear Stamps.

Inside is another stamp from the set. I was so happy that there were words to use inside the card. Everyone seems to make the titles or greetings, but never think of words for inside a card.

Supplies:
Purple card stock - Soft Finish Perfect Purple - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Purple metallic card stock
White card stock
Double Sided Adhesive - 6" width - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Glitter Dots - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Copics
Labels and Circles, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
White Soft Finish Card stock 85#

Wobbly Ghost Halloween Card

Good morning friends

Today's card is a little bittersweet for me. The ghost was cut from a Hallmark garland and sent to me years ago from my far away friend Impi. Impi wasn't feeling well that July and was gone from us in September - but with letters we got to say a proper goodbye to each other.

Impi was an amazing paper crafter. You see all those people using sponges  & torn paper masks or stencils to create scenes? Yeah - that was her idea. She came up with the technique many many years ago and was featured in RubberStampMadness magazine. She called it SMOOSHING, so to honour her I still refer to it as Smooshing and I smile every time I see someone use the technique.

She created the most amazing scenes using Smooshing and rubber stamps and the large envelopes that made their way to my mailbox were pieces of art. As were the margins of all her letters. Then there were the swaps. She would buy things like these garlands, cut them into pieces and tuck them into her pen-pals envelopes. And we would all do the same for her.

I think of her often, and feel her presence in the quiet when I'm making cards. She would have loved Karen Burniston's Pop it Ups!

Anyhow, I let go of the sentimental reasons to be hanging onto this piece and made a Halloween card for one of our Grandkids.

I stamped the orange banner on white card stock, using the new Occasions Clear stamps then cut them out with the coordinating banner die with the Anita Frames Pop-Up. Then I drew on the letters and hung it from the ghosts hands with twine.

The whole ghost was then adhered to the embossed orange background with an Action Wobble.

Inside is some hand lettering and glittered stickers.

Blue Bat Halloween Card

Good morning friends

This Halloween card is for our Grandson Ethan, who loves blue. Blue Blue Blue. Of course, I had to make Midnight the Bat in blue, just for him!

The blue and orange background was done with the new Stage it Stencil by Karen Burniston - stencils make it so easy to customize the colours of your background.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Wobbly Pumpkin Card for Zachary

Good morning friends

I may have mentioned this, but our Grandson Zachary is a bit of a wild man. The last card his Mom gave him, lasted only seconds before it was torn up. With glee, but still. So his Halloween card this year is fairly simple. He will flick that pumpkin a couple of times then ... off it will come. Zachary is very good at being two.

The pumpkin sticker was added to one of Karen Burniston's Labels then on an Action Wobble. I pounced three bats from the Stage it Stencil onto the centre patterned paper strip - a fun way to customize your patterned paper.

A little bit of hand lettering inside, and a bat from the Bats Stage it Stencil.

Have at it, Zachary.

Supplies:
Sticker - Stash
Black card stock
Circles and Labels, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Halloween Pop Stand Card

Good morning friends

I confess that this card has been done for months. It was the first card I made with Karen Burniston's Flower Pot Pop-Stand. I liked that the die could make a free standing 'in a box type' card, or be done inside a folded card with the included Pop Stand die.

I wanted this one to stand on it's own but also have a base, so came up with this circular base that folds up flat with the rest of the card for mailing.

Then it opens up to give the Flower Pot Pop-Stand a cute base! To make the base, I adhered a purple circle to the black scalloped circle and scored it down the centre. Note - I cut the purple circle down the centre before adhering it to the black one, which reduces the bulk at the fold line. Line up the Flower Pot Pop-Stand piece on the score line using the included alignment nubs and cut.

Adhere the completed Flower Pot Pop-Stand to the base using a strong adhesive and let dry. I used Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I then cut a smaller teal scalloped circle and cut it in half. This was adhered to the bottom of the black base, lining  up the cut lines on either side of the score line on the black piece. The reason I added the teal, is to hide the holes from the Pop Stand.

Midnight is the newest Pop it Ups Character, and he/she is SO cute. And easy peasy to assemble, I might add.

One of the labels from the new Labels and Circles was left blank on the back so I can write my message on it.

The Flower Pot Pop-Stand is completely generic and can be used for many different occasions. I like that my base option gives us a third way to display it!

Halloween Twist Circle Panel Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

I had some insomnia one night last week - awake at 3am but refusing to get out of bed until 5. Then I headed to the craft room to make another Twist Circle Panel Pop-Up Card. This one is for Halloween.

I tend to keep the fronts of my Pop-Up cards fairly simple, because all the action is inside.

Here is the card opening ...

... then fully open.  I had so much fun making this card. The card base uses the Twist Circle Pop-Up, by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. At the end of the post I have a link to her video on how to adapt the die to make these Panel Pop-Up cards which are all the rage these days.

I added portions of the Iron Fence to each panel, then decorated the rest with embellishments from my stash. Note,  I did not use foam tape so the card would fold flat enough for mailing.

The labels from the Anita Frames Pop-Up provide the area for a message and signature. I put it on the left side, as you don't want any catch points for the corners of the panels. That way the card opens and closes smoothly.

Here is the link to Karen Burniston's September Designer Challenge Video. It's great to have a die do all the work for you, rather than complicated measuring or templates.

Supplies:
Twist Circle Pop-Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Black card stock
Fine point scissors - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Clear Double Sided Adhesive, 1/4 and 1/2" width's
Zutter corner rounder

Fine point tweezers - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Embellishments - K & Company
Patterned paper - Doodlebug

Eyes for Halloween

Good morning friends

This is a card that looked WAY better in my head, ha ha. While it did not turn out as planned, I'm still happy enough with it.

The bright green is actually a layer of fun foam - the various eyes (cut from different Pop it Ups Characters) were cut from the black card stock which was backed with the green fun foam panel. The Happy Halloween is orange sparkle embossed, and I traced bats from the Bats Stage it Stencil with a purple gel pen.

Since I've become a huge fan of wiggly eyes, I had to add various sizes to this card.

Here is a peek at the inside ... loving that spooky branch in Karen Burniston's new Halloween collection.

The spider was die cut from green fun foam and I added the eyes with a Sharpie.

Supplies:
Rocky the Crab (eyes), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Flourished Pumpkin Stand-Up Card

Good morning friends

I went hunting through my stash of pre-made embellishments, and found a couple of Halloween ones that I cut with my Cricut years ago. Time to use them! I chose the flourished pumpkin and made a Stand-Up card as the base.

Hard to see in the photos, but there are a couple of spiders on the card that have shiny bodies and pom-pom bodies. My kind of spider.

Finally, a peek at the inside ...

Spider Halloween Card

Good morning friends

I have a flat Halloween card to share today, using some of the new Halloween Collection items by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

The Graveyard scene is fabulous for Halloween projects. Here I cut it out of white card stock, and used it as a mask to stipple purple ink through it. Then I stamped my favourite dot stamp (Stamps by Judith) through the mask as well.

The Bats stencil makes a great background, but you can also isolate a few of them as I did here. The sky and moon were also sponged or stippled onto the white panel.

I had these cute black web embellishments in my stash so added one then cut a Spider from green to adhere to the web. The 31 was stamped in black then cut out with the oval from the Anita Frames and adhered with yellow brads.

Here is a peek at the inside - loving the new clear Halloween stamps! Also the Labels and Circles are ones that I seem to be turning to again and again.

Supplies:
Bats Stage it Stencil - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
White card stock
Fired Frames Stitched Rectangles - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Halloween Scene, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Spider web - American Crafts

Ghosty Halloween Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is the Halloween card I made for my parents to give to our Grandson Ilai. I used a couple of the new Stencils by Karen Burniston for the card front, then doodled some lines between the bats with an orange fine point marker.

The ghost is a glittered sticker from my stash that was adhered to white card stock then popped up on the card front. I did some hand lettering inside, and for this one I remembered to take a photo!

White card stock

C4C 354 Halloween Tent Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday  so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our September 2016 hostess is Raquel Mason and our Guest Designer is Fran Sabad.

When I saw Raquel's sketch, I immediately thought of doing a Tent Card. Last year fellow Designer  ChallengeTeammate Frances Byrne came up with a way to create a Tent Card using an Accordion die so I went with the Accordion Oval for my card instead of the Circle Accordion. Ha, I usually go my own way with a sketch.

I adore that little expanding ghost from the new Halloween Charms. This card folds completely flat for mailing, then stands open with the little ghost swinging in the centre.

I'm also loving Karen Burniston's new Halloween Scene die set - The spooky branch is SO fun and the graveyard scene is proving to be quite versatile.

I like to add a panel to the back of my Tent Cards, as a place for a greeting and signature. Here I used one of the new Halloween Clear Stamps in orange and went over the web and spider with a fine point black marker.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C354

Hoppy Cauldron Pop-Up card

Good morning friends

Welcome to Karen Burnitson's first Designer Challenge for September 2016 "Halloween" - Cute or creepy - you decide!" For my card I combined some of the awesome new Hallowen Collection with some older Pop it Ups, since they all work together seamlessly.

I kept the front somewhat simple, with hand lettering, stamps from the new Halloween Clear Stamps and black glittery bats from the Halloween Scene set.

Inside I made a little Halloween Scene with the Halloween Scene dies, Hoppy the Frog wearing a Witches Hat from the new Props 9, a fun cauldron (details below) and the Lucy Label Pop-Up.

Tee hee hee - love that Witches hat. All the Characters looks great in it! The moon was created using the circle from the Sports Charms with the hanging hole trimmed off and coloured with Copic markers. It's the perfect size for the tombstone edge. There is another glittered bat as well.

I had so much fun making the cauldron. The bowl is the cup from the Cup Pop Stand, with about 1/4" trimmed off the top edge, and the handle also trimmed away. Bubbles were cut from white pearlized card stock and the feet of the cauldron are from the Bath Tub Pop Stand. Because they were cut from black glittered card stock you can hardly see the edges, but using a black sharpie on those edges helped too.

The spider web from the new Halloween Charms and the steam from the Cup Pop Stand were cut from vellum. I stamped the Happy Halloween in black, then outlined the spider web with a green metallic gel pen and added eyes to the spider with the same pen.

Here is another look at the card opened.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Designer Challenge Team has come up with for this fun challenge - their blogs are linked on the right. Karen Burniston will have her post tomorrow (Tuesday) on her BLOG.
