Hot Air Balloon Twist Card (NEW RELEASE)

Good morning friends

This is actually the first card I made with Karen Burniston's NEW Occasions Release, for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I love that the dies are completely generic and can be used for any occasion or theme. I had this sunny yellow piece of Soft Finish Card Stock sitting on my stamping table, and that was the jumping off point for my card.

When you open the card, you can see the hot air balloon on it's side ...

... and when it's fully open the hot air balloon twists and pops up in the centre of the card. SO cool!

There are lots of Decorator Dies included with the Twist Circle Pop-Up, including this cute HI circle. Here I cut it out of teal and white, then inlaid the white HI into the teal circle. I added banners from the new Anita Frames Pop-Up for some pizzazz. Banners and hot air balloons go hand in hand, don't you think?

The new Circles and Labels set is going to be very versatile - you will be seeing a lot of that set used by the Designer Challenge team for sure.

Accordion/Concertina Challenge Card

Good morning friends

Welcome to the second Designer Challenge of July ... this time the challenge came from Kelly Booth:  "Stretch it out!" - use any of the Accordion dies for a project of any theme.

I was looking at the different Accordion dies and trying to decide which one to use for the challenge. I knew I also wanted to use the Hot Air Balloon and all of a sudden I remembered "Shelly's" Concertina idea. LOVE it when you can use your dies more than one way. (More on Shelly's cards below).

This is the card ready to be put in the envelope. It folds completely flat!

After I cut the four Accordion Ovals from white Soft Finish Card Stock, I used the Petite Flourish Stage-it Stencil to add some colour before assembling. I picked a scrapbook kit from my stash and had fun choosing different patterned papers for the Hot Air Balloons.

There were some coordinating stickers that I added to white card stock and fussy cut, and I also added some clouds from the All Seasons Tree. The Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up comes with  cloud dies as well, but for this card I liked the chubby clouds from the All Seasons Tree set.

Finally, I added two of the printed cards that would normally be used for Pocket Scrapbooking to the back of the card. You can see the one from the front of the card and the other is adhered to the back of it so you see it from the back.

A while ago, Shelly Hickox made THIS awesome concertina card and then another for an Elizabeth Craft Designs post. I was INSPIRED I tell you, and made THIS ONE for a Designer Challenge in November 2015. (Shelly credits Karen Burniston as coming up with the method of using the Accordion dies to create a concertina card, which is totally brilliant).

Karen Burniston will be posting on HER BLOG tomorrow (Tuesday) so be sure to check it out. The Designer Challenge Team is linked on the right of my blog, if you want to see what they've come up with for this challenge.

Supplies:

Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Soft Finish Card Stock, White, 100# - Elizabeth Craft Designs

Card size: - just over A2 because of the overhanging balloons. Would fit easily in a 5 x 7" envelope.

Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up

Good morning friends

Today's share is a Love Note I made for our eldest daughter and husband. They deal with a lot for Olivia's Pulmonary Hypertension ... it's stress and juggling 24/7. I bought this awesome stamp set from Verve so used it for their card.

I stamped the words in light ink, then did the lettering with a water colour brush and Water colours.

Inside is a Pop-Up made using the Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I used her Partly Cloudy Stage-It Stencil with the same water colours for the cloud background.

I also added some water colour touches to the Hot Air Balloon.

Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up Birthday Card

Good morning friends

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and I have a Pop-Up Birthday card to share today.

It's a little hard to see in the photo, but the white panel was embossed with Karen Burniston's Cloud Stencil. The sun is from the Oval Pull Card  and the border is from the Pull Card Edges. I cut the scallop edge cut twice, one upside down and them used the leftover centre strip from the centre as my border.

Inside is a popped up Hot Air Balloon! I love Hot Air Balloon images and this one goes together so slick. It comes with a separate Pop-Up platform, which you can cut anywhere you choose on the fold. I put this one right in the centre as I knew I wanted to add a little banner to the lower bump. While it's good for all kinds of things, a Hot Air Balloon is perfect for masculine cards and I know we often struggle with making those.

I also used one of the new Stage it Stencils for the clouds, birds and sun. Stencils are HOT in the crafting community these days.

Here is a side view so you can see the Pop-Up portion a little better ...

Supplies:
Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Partly Cloudy Stage it Stencils - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
White card stock - Gina K
Patterned paper and stickers - Echo Park

Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

Welcome to Day One of the January 2016 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge! The challenge was to create something with any of her new release through Elizabeth Craft Designs. Since I am thrilled with this entire new release, it was a little difficult to choose what to use! I narrowed it down to using the Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up since I love Hot Air Balloons.

This is a larger card ... 7-1/2" across and 4-3/4" down as I wanted lots of room to add two more Hot Air Balloons inside. The front has a Hot Air Balloon with pen work detailing, adhered to the card front with an Action Wobble so the balloon bobs and wobbles around. I added the Happy Birthday from the Happy Birthday Pop-Up, a strip of Washi Tape, and clouds with pen work from the Hot Air Balloon set.

Inside there is another pair of Hot Air Balloons - this die set comes with a two step Pop-Up platform that is great for all kinds of things. That little die will get all kinds of use, as it allows you to add a Pop-Up pretty much anywhere on the fold of your card!

These Hot Air Balloons have additional pen work and are joined together with one of the Ring Frame Edges (for the Ring Accordion) and additional banners from the Lots of Pops. I came up with the idea of using the Ring Frame Edges as a banner and I was so happy with how well it worked. You are going to see a lot of this idea from me in the future - it's so fun to come up with another use for your dies! Here I trimmed the white card stock to fit the orange Ring Frame Edge banner.

I added some stamping (coloured with pencils) and another strip of Washi Tape to complete the card.

Be sure to check out the Designer Challenge Team (they are linked to the right of my blog) and Karen Burniston will have her post Wednesday on her BLOG.

Valentine Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

I have a Valentine card to share today, that is also a Pop-Up card. The front has this super sparkly heart patterned paper and a soft seam binding bow.

Inside I used the new Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up and one of the Pull Card Edges - both brand new sets by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. They will be shipping later this month!

I'm really excited about the Hot Air Balloon ... and the little Pop-Up platform that comes with it is useful for putting little Pop-Ups on lots of different cards with different card sizes! I added some pen work to the card, and Zentangle inspired pen work to the lower balloon and basket. The cloud dies also come with the Hot Air Balloon.

This was one of the cards on display in the Elizabeth Craft Designs booth at CHA this past week!

Good morning friends

It's  Masculine Card Monday  here on my blog, and I wanted to share a card I made with the new Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up die. Here I used it with the Rectangle Pull Card for a fairly quick card.  I think Karen Burniston's new releases for CHA have hit the ball right out of the park - it's AMAZING. You can check everything out in the 'Coming Soon' section of the Elizabeth Craft Designs site.

I added pen work to the basket and one of Karen B's new stamps on the front.

Inside is more stamping with the new stamps, and pen work around the edge of the stamped rectangle.

Hot Air Balloon Valentine Card

Good morning friends

I love Karen Burniston's new Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up die, which is shipping this month. Here I've used it as a flat (gasp) Valentine Card. I'm happy with how it turned out!

I restrained myself from putting it on an Action Wobble, but that would be pretty cute another time. And there will be another time, I'm loving this Hot Air Balloon!

Here is a peek at the inside, with a computer generated greeting and some stamped hearts.

On a side note, I have a new obsession. The Project Life App.  I used to scrapbook and I loved it. Then it all became too much and I stopped splitting my crafting time between scrapbooking and card making, concentrating on the latter. Happily, I might add. When Becky Higgins started Project Life I thought "if I ever get back into scrapbooking, Project Life / Pocket Scrapbooking will be what I get into".

At the end of December I stumbled onto Becky Higgins' Project Life App. Scrapbooking in the palm of your hand! I can use my iPad or my iPhone and create digital pocket scrapbook pages. Yesterday I had to go for blood work, and an afternoon appointment means they are usually running behind and there is a bit of a wait. I completed two pages while I was in the waiting room! The Project Life App is truly a game changer, just as it's advertised. THANK YOU Becky Higgins!  #ProjectLifeApp

C4C316 Z-Fold Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Before we get onto our first challenge for the year, we need to let you know about a few changes. First up we sadly say goodbye to both Danielle Lounds & Kellie Hull.

Joining us this year, we have Maryann EinamRebecca Ednie and Jen Benner  . We look forward to having them all play along with us each week.

Our Guest Designer for January is Caz Counsell, I am sure you will enjoy seeing her creations this month.

For our January challenges, we have Frances Byrne hosting.

Apparently yesterday was Z Day. Let's celebrate by including something starting with the letter Z on our cards.  You could make a Z Fold Card, use a zip or zip image, zinnia, zebra, zoo etc. Let's show the letter Z how much we love it!

I wanted to share the Birthday card I made for my Brother In Law. I think Karen Burniston's new releases for CHA have hit the ball right out of the park - they're AMAZING. You can check everything out in the 'Coming Soon' section of the Elizabeth Craft Designs site.

For this card I used the new Oval Pull Card, the new Hot Air Balloon (from the Hot Air Balloon Pop Up) and the new Pull Card Edges. Also some of her new clear stamps which coordinate with the dies.

The Oval Pull Card comes with an optional slider, which is lots of fun. The Hot Air Balloon is attached to the right end of the slider, so when the card is opened it slides across the centre of the card.

Here is the card fully open ... you can see here how the Scallop Edge fits perfectly over the notch that keeps the Pull Card in the closed position. I also used the Oval edge to cut the decorative left panel, which leaves a perfect mat around the oval portion. With the Pull Card Edges, you get to decide on the height and width of your panel! I chose to leave a wide border of my black base card showing at the top and bottom.

It's hard to see in the photo, but I added some pen work to the basket of the hot Air Balloon. I LOVE Hot Air Balloons, so I was pretty excited to see this set in Karen Burniston's new release. It's going to get a lot of use! A LOT.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C316.
