Masculine SCPC With An Extra Flap

Good morning friends

I was supposed to be on the  Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog this morning, but due to a glitch the post was mistakenly published on Wednesday You can find my post HERE. It's a masculine birthday Spiral Circle Pull Card with an extra flap, which gives you more room to write a message or add a larger greeting. Here is the card in the closed position;

Here it is part way open ...

And finally all the way open.

I added some gears from the Clock & Gears set, with red mini brads and fussy cut embellishments from patterned paper as well. The '4' was computer printed and fussy cut. For full step-by-step directions and measurements, be sure to check out Wednesday's post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog.

This type of extra flap works for many different occasions, and all the Pull Cards! It's an easy way to change up the look of your cards in addition to giving you extra room for decorating. Try adding a spinner to that inner fold - or add the spiral to that side!

Masculine Beer Card

Good morning friends

It's Throwback Thursday on my blog and I have an older masculine card to share today.

I made it with SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) and my Cricut ... back before Provo Craft decided they didn't want people using SCAL with their machine. Ticked me off so much I haven't bought a Cricut cartridge since. In fact, I don't use my Cricut hardly at all anymore. So this SVG set was from SVGCuts and I thought the case of beer would be a fun card for our son's birthday, and he really really liked it!

Masculine Gift Card Holder

Good morning friends

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and I have a couple of shares today. First up is the Gift Card Holder I made for our son's birthday. I had hoped to use Karen Burniston's new Gift Card Holder Accordion for this, but it did not arrive in time.

The Sizzix Card with Flap is one that works well for Gift Cards, as you can fit the cardboard holder that the gift card comes in inside it. I added some stitched kraft strips, a stamped panel and die cut button w/ twine.

Here is the inside - I adhered the gift card folder that came with the card, inside my Gift Card Holder, and stamped the words *Buy Your Own Present! on the lower flap.

Supplies:
A2 Card with Flap - Sizzix
White card stock
Patterned paper - Colorbok
Blueprints #1
Marker - Stampin' Up
Word Stamps - Stampin' Up
Kraft card stock
Fine point Tweezers - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Button Twine - Papertrey Ink

Pop Up Card For a Pre-Teen

 Good morning friends

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog and I have a quick and easy Pop-Up card to share today. The Happy was cut from the front of the blue card then I backed the opening with the white inner card.

Inside I used the Lucy Label Pop Up, a Pop it Ups by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. The background was sponged with a hand cut cloud stencil and PanPastels, and the words were hand lettered.

This was the first time I used this stamp set, and I've had it quite awhile. I forgot I even had it - how bad is that?

The card is on it's way to Sri Lanka, where we sponsor a boy through World Vision.

Supplies
Blue card stock - Papertrey Ink

C4C 308 Beep Beep

Good morning friends.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment, and to share my FB post to help raise awareness for Pulmonary Hypertension. Your comments and prayers for our Olivia are appreciated more than you can know. The winner of the generous Karen Burniston Pop it Up prize package donated by Elizabeth Craft Designs is ... drumroll please ... 2boyzmom!!! She will receive the Barn Pop Stand, Fence Pop Stand, Western Edges and Cocoa the Horse dies. Woot!

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges BlogJessie Rone is our Hostess for October, with Tangii Crain as our Guest Designer. Jessie's Challenge is a sketch challenge!

I ended up trimming the bottom edge to show the double sided patterned paper on the inner card, which was not part of the sketch.

Inside I made a Pop-Up card using the Lorna Label Pop-Up die, a Pop it Ups set by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I added a speech balloon die and stamps at the top edge, as well as a car sticker with yellow brads on the wheels.

I love the stars that I die cut from the smaller platform that cuts with the Lorna Label. It's actually by Lawn Fawn and made for Journal Cards, but it fits the platform perfectly.

Here is a side view so you can see the Pop-Up a little better. This was the card I made for my Mother In Law to give little Ilai on his birthday. She was visiting us and had forgotten to pick up a card when they were in the city shopping. I was more than happy to help out!

Cowboy Boot Card

Good morning friends

It's Throwback Thursday here on my blog, and I have an older card to share today. I made it using my (now dusty) Cricut, an embossing folder and a recycled printed paper bag.

The leather twine was from packaging on a candle.

Sleeping Fox Tent Card

Good morning friends

I was inspired by Designer Challenge Teammate Frances Byrne's Tent Card, and had to make one of my own. This was the first one I made, although it's not the first one I've posted on my blog. I decided not to cut away the centre circle, instead leaving it in place and decorating it.

I love it when my dies can be used more than one way - and these Tent Cards are a great way to use your Accordion dies! I used Karen Burniston's Circle Accordion, a die set available through Elizabeth Craft Designs for the card base. I added the All Seasons Tree, as well as the Grass Clump from the Fence Pop Stand.

Inside the card, there is some patterned paper that you can see from the sides and through the centre areas around the circle.

The sleeping Fox is a Peel-Off by Elizabeth Craft Designs ... so sweet.

The back has a stamped greeting and room to write a message.

I will be making more of these for sure - the Accordion Dies make it so easy!

Accordion Circle, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

C4C303 Grandparent's Day Card

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges BlogRaquel Mason is our September Hostess, and Fran Sabad joins us as our September Guest Designer. Here is Raquel's challenge:  Grandparent's Day! you can call them Grandma, Grandpa, Grammy, Grampy, Nana or Popop. No matter what you call them, they're special. So let's make a card for that someone special that is older than you.

I made a card for my Dad to bring to the Nursing Home:

Funny story though. I wrote DAD on the front of the envelope and when I went to get it on Thursday to bring to my Dad, it was gone. Looks like I grabbed it with a stack of envelopes that I took to the post office to mail on Wednesday. Ha - it won't go far, but we'll likely never see it again. Sheesh.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C303.

Supplies:

Brownie and Cocoa Note Cards

Good morning friends

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and I have two cards that can be classified as 'sort of' masculine. I used Karen Burniston's Brownie the Cow, and Cocoa the Horse - Pop it Up Character dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. They were sitting on my stamping table, and I had a strip of patterned paper leftover from a different project. It had clouds at the top and grass at the bottom - and I was able to use it to make both of these note cards!

Hay there.  First up is Brownie. I just love Brownie the Cow - she has such a fun expression on her face and she works perfectly with the 'Hay There' from the Accordion Rectangle. I added a panel of green patterned paper and the grass portion of the scrap patterned paper strip, then popped Brownie up on an Action Wobble.

Cocoa the Horse is also on an Action Wobble. The blue patterned panel is actually leftover packaging! I used the top, cloud portion of the leftover strip and the tiny leftover bit of green polka dot paper and grass die from Karen Burniston's Outdoor Edges.

Below you can see the Action Wobble ...

I also added the basic fence from the Fence Pop Stand, and used up the last bit of green polka dot paper for the little grass clump. I love it when I can use up scraps!

Into my stash with these ones!

C4C301 Use a Tag

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog.  Frances is our August hostess, and here is her challenge: "Tag You're It!  This week let's use a Tag on whatever you create. It can be an individual tag or you can add the tag to your card/project you create".

It was only  natural to use Karen Burniston's Tag Pivot for my card, which is available at independent retailers or Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I used this fun hot-air balloon patterned paper, which is orange patterned on the other side. To add the pattern to the front and back as well, I cut two 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" panels and attached them over the card base before cutting the Tag Pivot. This gave the card extra stability.

As a place to add a signature, I cut one of the Accessory dies that come with the Tag Pivot, but I stopped the cutting pad short of the end of the small tag. Then I just trimmed it the length I wanted it, and tucked it under the seam binding.

I had fun using the Lawn Fawn Hot Air balloon die set again, which also had the cloud die.

Finally, here is the back view ...

... and the view from the top.

Check out the blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C301.

Pop it Ups Wednesday Masculine Card Duo

I'm on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog today, for Pop it Ups Wednesday.  Since many card makers get stumped when faced with making a masculine card, I have two flat cards to share. I also wanted to show you how adding some simple die cut shapes to patterned paper can add texture and pizazz. My first card is for a Birthday and features the Barbed Wire from Karen Burniston's new Western Edges. Let's get started...

WesternEdgesBDCard_KAicken_1

1. Cut blue card stock to form a 5 x 7" folded card. Cut masculine print patterned paper to 4 x 6". Cut red card stock to 4-1/4 x 6-1/4", centre and adhere the patterned paper to the red panel. Cut black card stock to 4-3/8 x 6-3/8", centre and adhere the decorative panel to the black one.
2. Adhere a 2-1/2 x 3-1/2" piece of black card stock to one side of Elizabeth Craft Designs Transparent Double Sided Adhesive. Use the arrow from the Rectangle Pull Card and die cut 9 Arrows. Peel off the backing from 8 of them and adhere to your patterned paper where desired. Set aside the remaining arrow and scrap of adhesive black card stock.
3. Die cut 3 Barbed Wire pieces from a Black Velvet Adhesive Sheets. From the Happy Birthday Pop-Up, die cut a Happy & Birthday using the same sheet of Black Velvet Adhesive. Wrap one of the Barbed Wire pieces around your decorative panel at the top left as shown below. Repeat for the bottom right. Then apply your finished panel to the front of the the card with Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

WesternEdgesBDCard_KAicken_3

For the inside of the card, cut a white panel to 4-1/4 x 6-1/4", and a red panel to 4-1/2 x 6-1/2". Centre the white panel over the red one and adhere. Adhere the third Barbed Wire down the left side and the Happy Birthday as shown, then adhere your panel inside the card with Double Sided Adhesive Tape.
The black velvet adds such a nice feel to the card - you just want to touch it! Tip: Keep the scraps from when you die cut the Barbed Wire as it makes perfect Pop it Ups Character noses, hooves etc. Another  great way to use those smaller dies, as the Black Velvet Adhesive Sheets essentially make those pieces into stickers and easy peasy to attach.

WesternEdgesBDCard_KAicken_4

I had one small piece of the patterned paper leftover, and I was determined to use it up. So I created a simple A2 sized note card that will be perfect to send to my Dad, who is in a Nursing Home.
1. Cut white card stock to an A2 folded card (4-1/4 x 5-1/2"). Cut the remaining patterned paper to 4 x 5-1/4" and a piece of black card stock to 4-1/8 x 5-3/8. Centre the patterned paper on the black panel and attach, then repeat to attach the decorative panel to the front of the white card base.
2. From the Rectangle Pull Card, die cut 'hello' using the remaining adhesive backed black card stock from Step 2 above. Adhere the remaining arrow from Step 2 and the 'hello' to your patterned paper where desired and your note card is done and ready to send to someone special.

WesternEdgesBDCard_KAicken_5

I hope I've inspired you to use some of the Accessory Dies that come with the Pop it Ups in a new way!
