Elizabeth Craft Designs December Designer Challenge

Good morning friends

Today is a big day ... it's time for the December Designer Challenge at Elizabeth Craft Designs! This will be the last Designer Challenge with the current ECD Design Team - I can't believe how quickly the time went by.

Joset's challenge this month was to use "Shimmer Sheetz and Glitter" - both are staples in the Elizabeth Craft Designs product line. We were also to use their new Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape - which is a fabulous product. I've been doing so much Christmas lately, I wanted to create something different for the challenge and came up with this pretty tag.

I love making tags, and the new Tags & More dies make it so easy to create a variety of tags. My tag today uses the Tags & More 1 - Lace.  These dies cut just the top so your tag can be as long as you want it to be.  I was using a 6 x 6" paper stack, so my tag is 3-1/4 x 6".

The new Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Tape is transparent, so I added a strip to the front of the same patterned paper as I cut the decorative tag from and added Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. When it was polished in with my fingers, I was left with a subtly patterned glitter paper. Perfect! I cut two strips from this paper, one for the top and one for the bottom edge. The top one was then cut with the pretty lacy decorator die from the Tags & More - 1 Lace set.

The dragonfly silhouette was cut from Pink Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz, and I cut the overlay from another piece of the glittered patterned paper. I love how the Shimmer Sheetz catches the light when the card is turned - it's so unexpected when you first look at the tag. The dragonfly was popped up onto another die cut tag which was also popped up with foam tape onto the base tag.

I added a piece of the transparent double sided adhesive tape to another piece of the same Shimmer Sheetz and die cut the word HELLO. Note, I used the metal adapter plate for the Shimmer Sheetz die cutting.

Then, since the challenge seemed to lend itself to 'Shimmer and Shine', I added Glitter Dots and gold Peel-Off borders.

It's been an honour to have been on the Design Team for Elizabeth Craft Designs this year - be sure to  follow ECD on FaceBook to keep up on all the happenings in the New Year. I'm sure there will be lots of exciting new product and probably some new faces too!

THANK YOU to Els and Joset for this wonderful opportunity. It was a pleasure getting to know you and your wonderful products.

Puffy Sticker Tags

Good morning friends!

It's MOVING DAY and today's post was scheduled. Not sure how long it will be until I have internet again - Yikes!  I have a couple of posts scheduled, just in case. Today's share uses fun puffy stickers to create Christmas Tags.

Those were easy to make, but I think they turned out so cute.  The tags were cut from sturdy white card stock using a Sizzix die, then I added strips of Washi Tape* across the bottom for some colour. I stamped the 'to & from' on the back side before attaching the puffy stickers, then added some red Bakers Twine.  And done!

*Washi Tape. I have not been a fan.

THEN I bought my Erin Condren Life Planner (a daytimer) and started seeing how everyone else was using Washi Tape to decorate their EC Planners. I picked up a couple of rolls and now I am really REALLY liking it. Ha!  Had to decorate a gift sack really quickly this weekend and with a few strips of colourful Washi Tape it was done in less than a minute.

Washi Tape ... I'm sold!

Supplies used:
Tag die - Sizzix
Washi tape - Martha Stewart
Puffy stickers - Dollar Store
Bakers Twine
To & From - MFT

Dog Tag

Good morning friends!

Today's share is a cute little dog themed tag. I usually bring treats to a friends dog when we visit but it seems a little much to actually wrap them as a gift. Plus the dogs want some RIGHT NOW as they know I always bring them goodies.

I don't use a lot of digital stamps (digi's) but I DO own some. There are times when I just cannot get to my stamps and these make it an easy way to access some images. This dog image is a digi, printed on white card stock, fussy cut and coloured with blended coloured pencils.

The tag die is from Elizabeth Craft Designs - I really like the shape of it. It's a good deal too, you get three different sized tags (I used the largest and the smallest here) as well as Fall and Christmas embellishment dies.  I embossed the largest tag with one of their new embossing folders and inked the edge.

Adding a dimensional tag takes it up a level from just handing them a box of treats, at least for the owners. :-)

Supplies used:
Kraft card stock
White card stock
Tag dies - 763, Elizabeth Craft Designs
Embossing folder - 106 Dancing Leaves - Elizabeath Craft Designs
Digi stamp - Melissa Bastow (Dorky Doodles on Etsy)
Pencil crayons, Gamsol and blending stump
Bone stamp - The Alley Way Stamps

Sewing Room Tag

Hello friends - today's share is a vintage looking tag-card I made for a friend. I used a several different dies for it, and I attached it to a loom knit piece I'd made especially for her.

I used the largest Sassy Label Framelit for the tag-card base, and added the stitching lines to the front one with the coordinating Sassy Label Stitched Framelit - both sets by Karen Burniston.

The dress form and spools were cut a couple of times - from Kraft and from patterned papers, and after trimming all the edges were inked before assembling.

I folded the Kraft card stock and cut it with the Sassy Label die, keeping the fold line just inside the top of the die. The patterned paper was cut with the same Sassy Label die and attached to the front. I then scored the back panel about 1/2" below the fold line.

This label die is my favourite one in the set - it's so versatile!

I still have quite a few Christmas cards to share, but I think I'm ready to take a few days off of Christmas.  I'll post them in the coming weeks.

Sassy Framelits - Karen Burniston (Sizzix)

Christmas Tags with Stitched Framelits

As soon as I opened the packages of Karen Burniston's Labels & Stitched Frame dies, I just knew the largest ones would make beautiful tags.

For this first tag, I cut red Stardream with the largest tag in the Circle and Stitched Labels package. I rotated the die 90 degrees, traced the edge with a pencil, and trimmed the bottom 'arm' off to create  this lovely ornament shape. Easy Peasy!

I ran the ornament shape through the Big Shot using Karen's 'Trellis & Swirls" embossing folder - the beautiful texture shows up so nicely on the pearlized Stardream. I cut a 2nd Circle Label from white card stock, and used the coordinating stitch die to add the pretty stitching lines.  I stamped the 'TO & FROM' before attaching it to the red tag base.

The poinsettia was die cut from Stampin' Up's Glimmer paper (gold for the flower and red for the flower center). I also added a gold glitter paper punched circle to the top of the tag using a regular hole punch and punched through both layers with a tiny hole punch. That gave me a place to thread the bakers twine.

For my second tag, I broke out that BEAUTIFUL red Glimmer Paper. I just love that paper and have it in all three colours.  I die cut the tag base using the largest Sassy Label Framelit.

My favourite die in the Sassy Label set is the smallest one - it's just so versatile!  I folded it in half and attached it over the top of the tag to give me a loop for threading the twine through.

I cut another, smaller Sassy Label from white card stock and added the stitching with the coordinating die. To make the stitching lines pop a little, I went over them with my Sakura glitter pen - that is fast, it takes just seconds as the stitch lines are already there for you. Then I stamped the words and added the white label to the red glittery one.

I layered on some pretty K&Co Christmas stickers and added some Stickles.

This is one SPARKLING tag - perfect for the holidays and so quick to make with dies!

Snowman Gift Tags

Good Morning Friends!

Today is a happy day - Daylight Savings Time ends. YAY!  (I am NOT a fan of DST).

Today's share is a trio of Snowman tags. While visiting Arizona in the Spring, I added (ahem) quite a few Sizzix dies to my collection. This tag die (Tags #3) is one that has gotten quite a work out in my studio - I really like the size of the tags. Not too big and not too small, and you have a coice for the top shape either traditional angled sides or the semi-circle.

.

After putting away a stack of Christmas papers, I discovered this one left out. Instead of digging through all the papers to put it where it belongs, I decided to cut some tags with it and here are the first three...

The little snowman was inked with grey and the details were added with markers before stamping onto scraps of white card stock. It didn't take very long to fussy cut these little guys out, either! A stamped label was punched out with the coordinating punch, 'To & From' added to the back side then the label & snowman were popped up with different heights of foam tape.

Supplies used:
Tag #3 die - Sizzix
Merry Christmas stamp - Hero Arts
Snowman and label stamp - Stampin' Up
Snowman stamp - Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper - from my stash
Bakers Twine

Sparkly JOY Christmas Tags

W O W !!!     My 'Shades of Green' Christmas card took Top Honours at the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Blog.   Wow!  Thanks ladies - thanks very much for liking my card enough to choose it.

While I was cutting ornaments for Christmas cards, I decided to make a couple of gift tags too.

Each tag was cut twice ... the first (top) layer was cut out of red & white sparkly paper with the word JOY cut out of the top.  The remaining layer was cut from white cardstock and attached to the sparkly ornament.  "To & From" are stamped on the back side.

I added red Bakers Twine so the tags can be tied onto a gift bag as well as a package.

Freshly Made Sketch #88

The latest sketch at the Freshly Made blog (#88) is my new favourite sketch. I have SO many ideas for it!

I'm not a huge fan of top fold cards since they tend to collapse when displayed, so I turned the base card around but kept the rest of the sketch the same.

I love the floral glittery card stock on this card - so cheerful and perfect for a birthday card.

While I was punching out the glittery card stock for the flower on the card, I decided to make a couple more so I'd have matching gift tags...

Pine Cone Gift Tag Set

It's Saturday, and I have a holiday share today.  There are many Christmas pictures still in my file that have not been posted, and I hope to continue with the Merry Monday's challenge and work on my holiday cards all year long. Saturday's sound like a good day to share them!

I just found these photos in my file ... they are actually from 2011 when we had our Christmas Craft Sale. I made a couple of packages of these for the sale, and some to tuck into stockings.

The image was stamped with brown on white card stock, coloured with chalks then punched out with a coordinating punch. I packaged them in a polka dot cello bag with brown bakers twine. I thought they were so sweet!

Most people who visit my blog have a pretty good idea what supplies I've used, so I am not going to continue to list them. If you have questions though, please feel free to leave me a comment and I'll give you the specifics.

Christmas Tree Gift Tags

When I started on this 'Christmas Gift Tag Making Craze' I mentioned having lots and LOTS of embellishments in my stash. I have had this little package of sparkly Christmas trees for a couple of years. They turned out to be a little small for Christmas cards, so I just hung onto them. Well, they are the perfect size for tags!! Since there were over a dozen of them in the package, I made a bunch of tags and also several wine bottle hangers (that I will share another day).

I used a Spellbinders label die - and the tag bases are made with two layers. The top green layer was embossed with a Stampin' Up embossing folder before attaching to the cream back tag.  That back tag has "to & from" stamped on it.

I had ordered some cream velvet ribbon from  Stampin' Up, and oh, that is beautiful ribbon. Love it!  I used it on these tags, tying off the top with a bit of button twine (PTI).

These were actually fairly quick to make, assembly line style... and they made a TINY dent in my stash.
