Clean and Simple Christmas Card

Good morning friends

If you follow my blog, you may have noticed I rarely post cards in the order I make them. So when I pulled out that Snow Drifts Cover Plate that I'd barely used, this is the first card I made with it. I wanted to get a feel for how the die worked, so stuck to a mostly white card.

The little tree layers comes on it's own little die (set of 3 trees for one easy pass) so I cut them from green card stock and inlaid them into the openings. They each got some glimmer using my Wink of Stella pen.

Before attaching the layers to my card though, I ran the pieces through with a snowfall looking embossing folder to give the card a bit of texture.

When I was finished, I was able to see some potential with this die and I hope to play with it a little more this holiday season.

****NOTE:  I have decided to move my cards and paper crafting to Painted Mountain Cards in the New Year. I've been toying around with the idea for a long while, and this seems like a good time to make the change. I will leave this blog open, as there are frequent hits from Pinterest and over 5 years worth of cards etc to reference.

White card stock
Snow Drifts Cover plate - Papertrey Ink
Green card stock - Stampin' Up
Snowy Embossing Folder - Stampin' Up
Wink of Stella
Inside stamp - Lawn Fawn
Red fine point marker

Card size - A2

Racoon and Beaver Valentine Cards

Good morning friends

It's Throwback Thursday here on my blog and I have a couple of Valentine's to share. I really want to get those pictures filed and not hold onto them until next February. :-)

This 'Clean and Simple' Valentine was made for my parents to give our son. I had done a Valentine with both the Racoon and Heart previously, but had stamped and coloured two of each so decided to assemble them to make a second card. This one is a different layout and not going to the same family as that first card so it all works.

I had just received my new Elizabeth Craft Designs order and wanted to play with Els new Curvy Ovals. I'd had my eye on them when they were first released, so I happily added them into my Spring order and they are FUN! The Valentine papers were on my stamping table so I decided to add a Baker the Beaver character (love him!!) and get a Valentine made for next year. So technically this one doesn't qualify for 'Throwback Thursday', but hey - it's my blog and I can bend my own guidelines. And now I can get that photo filed as well.

Open Banner Birthday Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is another quick Birthday card for my Mom. This time I didn't add any pen work or add any backing patterned paper - and I was very happy with the clean and simple look. Again, I made two identical cards but only photographed one of them.

The key to making a card like this is to use a nice, heavyweight card stock. It wouldn't have the same appeal if the card stock were 'flimsy'. I have heavy card stock from Papertrey Ink that I love. And I hoard it because the cost of shipping to Canada is outrageous. However, my friend "B" shared a sheet of 110# card stock that she picked up (with a coupon) at Michaels. OMGoodness - it's perfect!

Supplies:
Heavy White card stock - Recollections
Banner die - We R Memory Keepers
Happy Birthday - Stampin' Up
MISTI - My Sweet Petunia
Inside words - My Favorite Things
Easel Die - Elizabeth Craft Designs and patterned paper (K & Company)

Card size - both, A2
