White & Sparkling Pivot Christmas Card

Good morning friends

***NOTE:  I will be moving my cards and paper crafting to Painted Mountain Cards in the New Year. I've been thinking about it for a long while, and the New Year seems like a good time to make the change. I will leave this blog open, as there are frequent hits from Pinterest and over 5 years worth of cards etc to reference.

Today's share is one of those cards that looks better in real life - the camera just doesn't capture the sparkle. I made this holiday card for a friend who lives in the mountains - and used the Katie Label Pivot and heavy white card stock for the card base.

Then I had fun decorating with layers of white glitter paper, and this adorable owl 3-d sticker.

Here is the card open - with a Pivot card, the designs on the front and back pivot to the centre when the card is opened.

I've had the pine cone punch and evergreen bough die for years - and it was fun to get them out again.  There is a glittery snow bank strip across the bottom of the card, cut using one of the Beach Edges - another Pop it Ups set by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Even with the large size, this card fit easily in a 5 x 7 envelope and mailed for a single stamp.

Supplies:
Heavy white card stock
Katie Label Pivot, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Red card stock - Bazzill
White glitter paper - Stampin' Up
Beach Edges, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Owl sticker - Jolee's Boutique
Sprig - Marianne Designs
Pinecone punch - Emaginations
Red glitter paper
Cardinals - Impression Obsession

Dog Themed Sympathy Card

Good morning friends

I wanted to send my Sister In Law & family a card when their dog passed, and this is what I came up with. I used a heavy white card stock and the Heart Pivot by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs for the card base.

The designs on the front (and back) pivot to the inside when the card is opened. I added hand lettering and dog themed embellishments from Paper Smooches.

Whenever I give a Pivot Card to someone, they inevitably turn it so they can see what it looks like from the top. So I like to include a photo of the top on my Pivot Card blog posts.

Supplies:
Heavy white card stock - Michaels
Red and black card stocks
Xyron
Heart Pivot, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Paw Print etc - Paper Smooches
Hugs die - Technique Tuesday
Fine point Tweezers - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Bakers Twine
Oval Accordion (heart), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Card size - 4 x 5-1/2"

Heart Pivot Anniversary Card

Today's share is the Anniversary card I made for hubby ... it was fun to pull out the Heart Pivot again!

The key was cut away from the patterned paper on the front corner, then a second  key was cut from white card stock and adhered inside the card. You can see it through the key shaped opening when the card is closed.

When it is opened, you see the negative space for the key on the left and the white key on the right.

I also added additional layered hearts to the two pivoting hearts.

The back of the closed card ...

... and finally the view from the top, because everyone likes to see how a Pivot Card looks from the top. Whenever I give someone a Pivot Card, they eventually turn it so they can see 'how it works' from a top view.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - diana kappa
Heart Pivot, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Katie Pivot (labels), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
White card stock
Stamps - Verve
Glossy Accents

Card size - 5 x 6"

Coffee Pivot Card for the Coffee Loving Carmakers Blog Hop

Good morning friends

There is another Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop starting today and I thought it would be fitting to use the set of stamps & dies from Verve that I won at the last Coffee Loving Carmakers Blog Hop! Also since Karen Burniston is one of the sponsors - I combined the stamps with a Pop it Ups ... the Katie Label Pivot.

I also added a strip of Washi Tape, punched a hole and threaded some narrow black ribbon for a bit of pop.

I loved the pretty, cheerful summer print of this patterned paper. I scored 1-1/2" from each side then cut the outer edge with a stitched scalloped border die and folded it over to the inside. I like how it brings the pattern and colour into the inside. I also added a scalloped white border and a strip of floral card stock inside.

The fun thing about the Pivot Cards, is that the front (and back) decorations pivot to the inside as the card is opened. Pivot cards always give the recipient a lot of WOW but they are deceptively easy to create using  Pop-it Ups dies.

I hope you will check out the other blogs in the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop!   #summerclh

Blue Stencilled Birthday Pivot Card

Good morning friends

I wanted to include a WOW card in the set I was giving my Dental Hygienist Anne, so I grabbed the Katie Label Pivot die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. They are easy peasy to make but you get a lot of WOW.

Sorry for the weird shadows on the right ... they are distracting from the pretty sparkly background on the card. I used the Flowers Stage it Stencil and sparkly glitter paste and when it was dry I added the 3-d stickers.

Finally a photo of the top because people like to see the top view of a pivot card ...  I know whenever I give one the person will turn to view it from the top and open and close it. Then they will usually say Wow, or Amazing.

And when Anne opened the cards, she looked at this one and said Wow AND Amazing. She couldn't believe how it worked and was going to save it for someone special.

Supplies:
Blue card stock - Stampin' Up

Good morning friends

Today's share is the Passover card I made for our middle daughter and her family. I purchased a new set of Jewish stamps, and thankfully I recognized the Seder plate among them. I'm going to have to go through the stamps with her so I know what they are all to be used for.

I used the Katie Label Pivot for the card base - Pivot cards always give you such a WOW factor.

House Pivot Money Card

Good morning friends

Hubby asked me if I had a 'house die', and if I could make a house card that he could put some money in. Well yes indeed ... I do and I can. And I did!  :-)

I used the House Pivot die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I haven't used it in awhile so it was fun to pull it out again. Here is the front of the card, the house was paired with grass from the Outdoor Edges and the All Season's Tree.

Here is the inside - the house and fence pivot to the inside of the card as it is opened. I added a little envelope to the right side, with the 'a gift for you' from the Gift Card Accordion die.

I was happy to find a dog sticker that reminded me of their sweet little pit bull fur kid. That did not go unnoticed either - they LOVED their card!

I love how paper crafting allows me to personalize a card like this for the special people in our lives.

Karen Burniston's December 2015 Designer Challenge Card #2

Good morning friends

Here is my second card for the December Designer Challenge: Home for the Holidays - Let's see how you can interpret the phrase. Use the House, Holiday House or Barn (or are you making a tree house?) or some sort of "home" on a Holiday card.

I couldn't help it - I wanted the same idea as yesterday's card ... our home in the country ready to welcome the family for Christmas.

I made a three panel Pivot Card ... this is the front panel. A single tree decorated with glitter lines and a glittered star. The background was embossed with Karen Burniston's clouds embossing folder and the ground is the negative cut from the Beach Edges.

I inked both the snowbank and the clouds with PanPastels and added some glitter as well.

The panel opens from the left and reveals an embossed white tree decorated with Glitter Dots and more glitter. The white trees are each embossed using the embossing feature that comes on those dies. Each tree has a different pattern, which was highlighted with glitter.

I used the house from the House Pivot along with the Merry & Bright clear stamps on the inner right panel. The house also has an embossing feature - the bricks! After embossing I added some colour with PanPastels.

Finally, here is the card fully opened. The Evergreen Pivot was cut into the left score line, and those trees pivot into the centre of the card as it is opened.

The house has glitter and Glitter Dots, and the snowbank is outlined with glitter.

Karen Burnsiton will have her post tomorrow morning - you will want to check that out for sure.

Heart Pivot Anniversary Card and Tent Gift Card Holder

Good morning friends

I have a gift set to share today, that we gave to our friends who are celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary.

For their card, I used the Heart Pivot, a Pop it Ups die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft designs. While this die works for all kinds of different occasions - it is also perfect for Anniversary cards!

I added some pen work and fussy cut flowers to use as embellishments. Here is the front of the card:

And here is the card opened. I just love how much WOW you get from a Pivot Card! The decorated hearts pivot into the card as it is opened.

The stitched label is where we wrote our message and signed our names.

We also wanted to give them a little something, but we knew they'd be gifted with a lot of wine. Instead we gave them a gift card to a restaurant they go to frequently so they can treat themselves to dessert.

I LOVE the Tent Card that fellow teammate Frances Byrne came up with so wanted to make another one of those. Yet another way to use your Accordion dies! I used the Gift Card Accordion for this one, and a fussy cut flower was the only embellishment.

Usually when I make a Tent Card, I stamp a greeting on a decorated panel on the back. For this one though, I kept it really simple and wrote our message under the gift card.

Remember to check the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog later this morning, when Karen Burniston has her post for the November 2015 Designer Challenge!
