Halloween Pop Stand Card

Good morning friends

I confess that this card has been done for months. It was the first card I made with Karen Burniston's Flower Pot Pop-Stand. I liked that the die could make a free standing 'in a box type' card, or be done inside a folded card with the included Pop Stand die.

I wanted this one to stand on it's own but also have a base, so came up with this circular base that folds up flat with the rest of the card for mailing.

Then it opens up to give the Flower Pot Pop-Stand a cute base! To make the base, I adhered a purple circle to the black scalloped circle and scored it down the centre. Note - I cut the purple circle down the centre before adhering it to the black one, which reduces the bulk at the fold line. Line up the Flower Pot Pop-Stand piece on the score line using the included alignment nubs and cut.

Adhere the completed Flower Pot Pop-Stand to the base using a strong adhesive and let dry. I used Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I then cut a smaller teal scalloped circle and cut it in half. This was adhered to the bottom of the black base, lining  up the cut lines on either side of the score line on the black piece. The reason I added the teal, is to hide the holes from the Pop Stand.

Midnight is the newest Pop it Ups Character, and he/she is SO cute. And easy peasy to assemble, I might add.

One of the labels from the new Labels and Circles was left blank on the back so I can write my message on it.

The Flower Pot Pop-Stand is completely generic and can be used for many different occasions. I like that my base option gives us a third way to display it!

60th Birthday Flower Pot Card

Good morning friends

I wanted to make a card for my friends special birthday, so turned to the Flower Pot Pop-Stand. The front has Suzanne Cannon's gorgeous calligraphy Happy Birthday Die and some 3-d stickers.

Here is a look at the card as it is opened:

Fully opened, it becomes this amazing 3-d Pop-Up!

I added more of the floral stickers, and die cut numbers inside the flower pot. Labels from the Circles and Labels are layered on either side of the card, with stamping and room for a signature.

I added the Ring Frame Edges as banners along the top edge, covering the joins with the little banners from the Anita Frames Pop-Up.

I love being able to make special cards like this, especially when the recipient is a fellow paper crafter and just gets it.

Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge - "Be Inspired"

Welome to the second Designer Challenge for September 2016. This month Caz is offering the challenge: Take inspiration from a fellow teammate for a card or technique of any theme!

This was a hard challenge ... the Designer Challenge team is amazing, and they inspire me daily. To have to narrow it down to one card from one teammate? Couldn't do it.

However, I was wanting to try one after seeing Fran Sabad's beautiful Vertical Flower Pot Pop Stand Card so that is where I started. But I also wanted to try the Rectangle Pull Card spinner with the Flower Pot as in Kelly Booth's fun Halloween Card. So for this card, both Fran and Kelly are my inspiration.

Since all the 'OOOOOH' is on the inside, I kept the front of my card fairly simple. Hand lettering, patterned paper and the Outdoor Edges used as a border. Done. The flowers inside stick out a little on the bottom and on the right, but I am completely fine with that. I think of it as a little teaser. If it bothered me, I would have just made the outer card a little larger.

Here is the card as it is opening ...

Then ... ta da - a fully three dimensional flower pot filled with holly, candy canes and Christmas flowers. There is SO much wow with this die, and it's completely generic so you can fill it with all kinds of things for all kinds of occasions.

Since the recipient will likely turn the card to view it from all angles - the embellishments are double sided with a card stock strip sandwiched and sticking out between the layers. The strip is how I adhered them to the honeycomb grid inside the flower pot.

I added two charms (with the hang tabs trimmed off) to the spinner from the Rectangle Pull Tab ... the little gift and the dotted tree. I added gold gel pen dots to the embossed dots on the tree for some holiday shine.

I trimmed the vine into holly shapes with fine point scissors, and also added a couple of candy canes from the Holiday Charm set. The words were stamped with pale ink, then I went over the stamping with a gold gel pen. It's a fun way to add a 'hand lettered' look.

The Outdoor Edges worked really well as a border - I will have to remember that idea for another time.

Grandparents Day Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is the card I made for my Mom for Grandparent's Day.

As the card is opened, you see the cup and saucer in the centre, as well as the greeting.

When the card is opened all the way, the cup stands up!

My Mom is a tea drinker, so the Cup Pop Stand seemed like the perfect fit for her card.

C4C-353 Any 10 Items

It's Saturday and so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our September 2016 hostess is Raquel Mason and our Guest Designer is Fran Sabad (Stampers Blog)

Here is Raquel's Challenge:  Let’s make this really easy or it could be hard.  Put any 10 things on your card, it can be buttons, brads, die cuts, layers of card stock, flowers, rhinestones etc.  The items could also be a stamped image that has 10 things on it.

Such a fun challenge, and it could be interpreted several ways! I made a Flower Pot Pop Stand Birthday Card for our eldest daughter using older papers from my stash. There was a snippet left over, so I punched the top to create a bookmark and will include it in the envelope for her.

I did some hand lettering, then added a couple of die cut flowers and leaf from the Flower Pot Pop Stand to give the front a little dimension.

The card folds completely flat for mailing, but look at what happens as you open the card ...

Ta Daaa ... I swear this never gets old. It is this completely 3 dimensional flower pot filled with cute embellishments. What a great way to celebrate any occasion!

Halloween Cauldron (NEW RELEASE)

I have had this card done since July and planned on sharing it closer to Halloween. But Karen Burniston's new Flower Pot Pop Stand is SO popular, I thought it would be fun to share another idea using it.

I'm also trying to use some older products, so pulled out some Halloween stickers and REALLY old rub-ons for this card.

That Spooky branch is just SO fun!

It is amazing how nicely the Flower Pot Pop-Stand folds completely flat for mailing. Below you can see the card opening ...

I had the idea to make the Flower Pot portion into a Cauldron and it worked out great! I kept this one fairly simple, with bubbles (from the Bath Tub Pop-Stand & clouds from the Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up)  and steam (from the Cup Pop Stand) but there are all kinds of things you can add into the Cauldron to make it spooky and fun.

The new Halloween Scene Graveyard is great and if you follow my blog at all you will remember that I like to add the Character eyes to various cards. Of course for Halloween they are PERFECT! I cut them from white card stock backed with double sided adhesive, which makes them easy peasy to adhere.

Below you can see the rub-ons I added, as well as bats from the Halloween Scene die set.

The spoon was cut twice, so I could have a double sided spoon. A witch needs a good sized spoon for stirring her Cauldron, right?

Note, I trimmed the flap's of the Flower Pot around the edges of the bubbles, but they could be left as is.

Holiday Card In A Box - (NEW RELEASE!!)

The Designer Challenge Team was pretty excited when Karen Burniston showed us the Flower Pot Pop-Stand die set in her latest release. It's another completely generic die that can be used for many occasions and themes. It can be a stand alone card, attached inside a folded card so it expands as the card is opened, or as I like to do - add it to a circle base for a free standing card that's quite stable.

Without the base, this card fits into a standard A2 envelope for mailing. With the base it fits in a 5 x 7" envelope. I assembled the Flower Pot die as per the instructions, then added some chipboard embellishments from my stash to decorate the inner braces.  It turned out so cute!

After cutting the red scalloped base (using the included Pop-Stand die) I adhered the Decorated Flower Pot to that, then added a larger white circle of card stock. Note, the white one was scored in the centre but I cut along the score line then attached it to either side of the score line. Leaving that narrow gap along the score line allows the base to open completely flat and since it's on the back you don't see it.

I cut two identical tags and a reinforcement using Tag Pivot decorator dies, then fussy cut the white tag smaller leaving just the green mat.

See how it folds completely flat to insert into an envelope?

Note, the Flower Pot Pop Stand new release die is so popular, it is already sold out! It is expected to be back in stock around September 6th, which really isn't that far away if you are having to wait.

Floral Cup Pop Stand Card for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop

Good morning friends

Today I have another card to share for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop. I think the little 'to go' coffee cup & liner from Karen Burniston's Hanging Charm Pull Tab is so cute I wanted to use it on the front of a card but still leave it as a charm.

It's combined with labels from the Katie Label Pivot and that FUN Coffee Bean embossing folder. I also used clear stamps from Karen B's Coffee & Tea set - I like how they can be combined in so many different ways!

Here is the card fully open - I used the Cup Pop Stand to 'pop up' the coffee cup.

The Coffee Bean embossing folder was used at the top and bottom of the card base for some fun texture.  I'm happy with how the card turned out - it was fun to use such bright summery colours.

I used a silver marker to colour the bowl of the spoon and add some details. The sugar cube was cut from a scrap of glittered paper, made with white card stock backed with ECD clear double sided adhesive then warm diamond silk microfine glitter was rubbed into the adhesive. I cut the square using the gift from the Evergreen pivot. Love how all the Pop it Ups play so nicely together. :-)

Tea Solves Everything, a Pop-Up Card

Last week I shared two cards using a pretty metallic striped and a floral patterned paper (see HERE). I was able to make seven cards from these two 12 x 12" sheets, including this Pop-Up card.

Inside I used Karen Burniston's April 2016 technique of turning a Pop Stand into a Pop-Up. You can see her card, instructions and video HERE. It worked like a charm - and is a technique I'll use again.

I used the scalloped edge from the Pull Card Edges on the flower paper borders and also added scallops to the cup's top edge. The heart was sitting on my stamping area from a different project, but after I added some pen work with a copper gel pen I added the heart and coloured it with the same pen.

The words were stamped on a label from the Katie Label Pivot.
