Good morning friends!
Once again I get to play with Karen Burniston's wonderful design team for her December Sizzix Designer Challenge. The theme is "Pop 'n Cuts Anything Goes" BUT each designer was to use a different insert. How fun is THAT? You are going to get to see about a dozen completely different Pop 'n Cut cards!! I chose Karen's Sassy Label insert (my new favourite) and made a Christmas card.
This is one of those cards that is WAY better in real life. It's hefty because of the size (5-1/2" square) and all the layers. It shimmers and shines and is going to be sent to someone Very Special.
The tag was trimmed from one of the papers in the stack and matted on red Stardream, which has a beautiful pearlized finish. Then I went around the edge with my Sakura gel pen for even more shimmer & Shine. There is gold foil on the patterned papers, and I added a strip of Glimmer Paper and tied a bow on the tag top with Cherry Cobbler seam binding.
Now for the inside ... I cut another piece of the red/gold dots paper slighlty smaller than the card base, and attached that inside the card. I cut the red/gold snowflake paper using the Square Pop'n Cut with Ornate Edge with the Sassy Label insert with a crease pad**, and cut the scrolls from a strip of the gold foiled paper.
**I do need to use a crease pad with this insert and the Big Shot I was using. I do NOT need to use crease pad with the Big Shot I have at home ... from what I understand, it all depends on your particular machine.
I really wanted to use one of these white sparkly snowflake stickers, and I wanted it to stand out more from the card without the bulk of multiples foam tape layers. So I cut a small pop-out bump from the top of the Sassy Label piece, which is easier to see in the last photo. Easy Peasy!
I attached the lower edge of the snowflake sticker to the 'bump', then brushed baby powder on the top part of the sticker which I did NOT want to stick.
I cut a label from the gold foiled paper using a Sassy Labels and Stitched Frames Framelit, and attached it right to the Sassy Label portion of the insert. I love that it's sized to leave a little border around the outside. I cut the same label from white card stock, this time running it through the Big Shot again with the Stitched Framelit die. That will give me a spot to add our signatures and a little note, and the embossed stitching line dresses up the label shape. It's great that the cutting die and the stitching pieces are on their own dies and can be used independently or together!
The banner is from Karen's Banner & Borders set, stamped with a Papertrey Ink greeting and popped up on the Sassy Label with foam tape. Just for fun and a little MORE sparkle, I added two of the Elizabeth Crafts flat gemstone stickers.
Here is a better picture of the 'bump' I cut from the top of the Sassy Label ...
