On the first of each month, Sue and I pop something into the mail for each other. This is the card I sent to her this month, and since it is also for the 'Heritage Curly Tree' challenge at the Bitten By The Bug 2 blog, I have to post it before she receives it.
It's a large card ... almost 6" square! I used teal Bazzil card stock for the card base, and some pretty tan paper by K&Co for the layers. It is subtly patterned and was just what I was looking for. Love it when that happens.
The tree was cut out of kraft card stock at just over 5.5" (I used my Gypsy, so didn't dial in the size) and the shadow in black. After they were attached together, I spritzed the tree with glimmer mist. The sheen doesn't show up in a low res web photo.
I backed the paper panel with a heavy card stock, then wrapped it with twine before popping it up on the teal base with foam tape. The tree is also popped up. I tried several different ribbons, and even though the colours were good - it just didn't look right. The twine did the trick for me.
Inside is stamped a wonderful tree quote, and I used that bare tree from Michaels at the bottom. The acorn stickers were leftover from a scarecrow card I made (will share that later on). I spritzed them too and popped them up with foam tape.
I used one of my large square envelopes that I got last year from a wedding card designer. I had to order something else from her, and was able to tack on an order for these envy's too. I don't need them often, but they are sure lovely when I want to make a big card. And I knew I wanted to cut that tree large, with all the details in it. When I'm cutting a detailed image, I lower the pressure and cut twice. Works like a charm. I didn't do this with the shadow, just the tree itself. I spent more time 'weeding' the shadow than I should have had to. It was fun to pull out this cartridge again, so I was happy to participate in the challenge.
Have a wonderful weekend - Thanks for stopping by today!
What an effect! Truly stunning Karen!

Beautiful and elegant. That background paper with the swirls matches the tree so nicely. Thanks for sharing with us at BBTB2.
