C4C271 - Masculine Birthday Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday, and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog.  This week Peggy challenged us to make a 'Masculine Birthday Card'.

When I was setting up the craft room in our new house, I knew I wanted my card blanks accessible. They were supposedly accessible in my old studio, but I hardly EVER opened that cupboard to see what was in there. So, for the challenge I went through the drawers of card blanks and decided to take this big  6-1/4" Petal Card and turn it into a slider card for my hubby's birthday.

I had SO much fun making this card! I love that little golf cart - it's so perfect for a masculine card. I used the Outdoor Edges by Karen Burniston to cut the hills and trees from different patterned paper, and when the layers were adhered together I cut the slot for the slider.

I had to add four pennies to this one - at first I only had pennies on the back wheels but the golf cart looked frightening, spiralling all over the track. I added pennies behind the front wheel and that solved the problem. It rolls back and forth along the track nice and easy.  (For each wheel, there is a penny on one side of the track, a double layer of foam tape, and a second penny on the other side of the track).  There are lots of tutorials on-line to create slider or penny slider cards, if you want more information.

I adhered the slider panel to an olive green panel, then attached that inside the petal card.  I added the new Elizabeth Craft Designs transparent double sided adhesive tape to a piece of patterned paper and die cut the Happy Birthday that comes with Karen Burniston's Happy Birthday Pop Up.  That made the words essentially a sticker, so they are very easy to adhere.  I stamped the words on both side petals and my card was done.

Here is the card, all folded up and ready to give to my hubby. Who actually smiled and slid the golf card back and forth several times.  Woot!

Check out the blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge.  We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C271.
