Karen Burniston's July 2014 Designer Challenge

Good morning friends!

It's time again for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge ... this month the challenge is Christmas in July.

I made a super sparkly Christmas card - and while it didn't turn out the way I envisioned in my head, I'm very happy with it!  When I make a Pop-up card, I tend to keep the outside fairly simple.  This one has a triple layered Evergreen tree ... cream sparkly paper on top decorated with glitter dots and a red star, the center layer is cream card stock and the bottom layer is red card stock. Each layer is lifted up with foam tape. The tree and stars are the Decorator Dies that come with the new Pop it Ups Evergreen Pivot, by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. (Shipping this month!!)

Also brand new is this exquisite Holly Border - one of the Summer 2014 Release by Elizabeth Craft Designs. (Also shipping this month).

I still have SO many ideas to use with the Garden Bench, I really wanted to use it for this winter scene. I used the (AMAZING) new Outdoor Edges to cut the snowbanks and the tree/snowbanks from various cream papers in my stash and added Stickles to the edges.

The top and bottom card edges were trimmed with an Agatha edge die, and the bottom edge was decorated with the scroll that comes with that die set. I added the Holly Flourish, which coordinates with the border used on the card front, and lifted each of the leaves with a bit of foam tape. Lots of Glitter Dots were added to both the Flourish and the Scroll. I told you this was a sparkly card!

I just had to add the little punched cardinal for a pop of red.

The sweet Christmas Lights come with the new Holiday House - and I cannot WAIT to decorate a Christmas Dog House (using the House Pivot, of course) using these lights. I cut them from white card stock, added colour with Copic markers, Stickles on the bulb portion then adhered a teeny gold rimmed glitter dot to each light base.

Be sure to check out what the other designers have for the challenge today and/or tomorrow, and check the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog on Wednesday for Karen Burniston's card and take on her challenge!
