July 2014 Designer Challenge for Elizabeth Craft Designs (3 Cards!)

Good morning friends!

It's time again for the Designer Challenge at Elizabeth Craft Designs and I have three cards to share today. The Challenge was to make a Stand-Up card, and also to use one of the Word Stand Up Helpers in a way that wasn't a Stand-Up. Easy Peasy - these word Stand-Up Helpers are SO much fun!

For my first card, I used Julie Davison's instructions to create my Stand-Up card using the new Stand-Up Helpers 2.  I wanted to use the new Elizabeth Craft Designs snowman with all his dress-up pieces for the front and this centre panel was the perfect size!

I used the Poinsettia Stand-Up Helper, and decorated it with tiny holly and the smallest red Glitter Dots.  Those little holly leaves come with the Snowman die set.

I layered the snowflakes with foam tape …

Here is a peek at the inside …

Here is the card folded flat and ready to pop in the envelope...

For my 2nd card today, I cut a white block of card stock with the Merry Christmas Stand-Up Helper at the top edge. Then I embossed the panel below the words with the 'Lots of Dots' embossing folder.

I added a strip of double sided adhesive to white card stock, and burnished in Turquoise Silk Microfine Glitter. Then I die cut the cuff and toe/heel from this glittered paper. The Stocking Overlay was cut from a white pearlized Bazzill. Love how easy it is to change the look of this stocking set!

To get the sparkly border, I adhered a strip of 1/4" Score Tape across my card and burnished in Turquoise Silk Microfine Glitter. Such an easy way to add sparkle and colour!

I added panels and a stamped greeting inside and the card was finished.

And now for my third card today! I used a journal card that came in the paper stack (so everything coordinates), adding tiny Glitter Dots for seasonal sparkle. The stocking was cut from patterned paper in the same stack and pearlized white Bazzill. I added a Bakers Twine bow and pen stitching to give the card a more homey feel.

The Merry Christmas Stand Up Helper was cut from white card stock, then I easily snipped it along the score line at the bottom. That gave me a nice solid strip to adhere at the top of the journal card!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the different ways I've used the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stand-Up Helpers. Make sure to check out the BLOG and see what all the other Design Team created with these dies. You're in for a ton of inspiration!!

Poppy and Katie Pivot (Mesa card)

Good morning friends!

I made this card back in May, took a couple of pictures with my phone to share with the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Team … then mailed the card to Karen B.  Afterwards, I realized I hadn't taken proper pictures, so these will have to do.

I love the new Pop it Ups Character Dies … this card features Poppy the Owl and the Character Props die as well. So fun!  I added the embellished Characters to the Katie Label Pivot after stamping the leafy branch.

I added a little hand lettering and coordinating patterned paper strips and the card was done!

Candy Circles Evergreen Pivot

Good morning friends!

I have an QUICK and EASY Christmas card to share today, using the new Evergreen Pivot by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I cut an A2 sized card from sparkly patterned paper and scored it down the center, then cut the Evergreen Pivot towards the top of the card. That is one of the cool features of the Pop it Ups dies - YOU get to choose the card size and where on the fold you place your die.

I cut the green decorative layers from a different paper in the same stack, and the stars from red card stock scraps. These decorator dies come with the Evergreen Pivot!

I added a border trimmed from a third paper in the stack and stamped a greeting. Card - done! Easy Peasy, yet it still has some WOW factor.

Here is the view from the back ...

Right into my Christmas Card stash with this one, and it was so quick to make I think I might whip up a couple more!

Supplies used:
Card size: Standard A2 (4-1/4 x 5-1/2)
Evergreen Pivot - Pop it Ups, Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Patterned paper - MME
Red card stock
Stamp - Papertrey Ink

Pop up Thank You and Gift Card Holders (#5)

Good morning friends!

Awhile ago, a neighbour ordered 10 Pop Up Thank You cards for his office, and I'm slowly getting them posted.  This is the fifth one and I thought it would be good for Masculine Card Monday here on my blog.

To keep all ten cards looking uniform, I used one of Karen Burniston's older dies to cut the bases. I love the rounded corners this die gives the A2 cards!  The paper has lovely clear embossed bits on it, and I added a 3-d bird sticker on the front as well.

Inside I used the Lucy Label Pop Up  - a Pop it Ups by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. Because he wanted gift card holders attached inside the card, I added one die cut from white card stock at the top, and a 3-d bird sticker sits below it on the optional bump that cuts with the Lucy Label die.

Supplies used:
Card Size: standard A2 (4-1/4 x 5-1/2)
Lucy Label Pop Up - Pop it Ups, Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Katie Label Pivot ( Label) - Pop it Ups, Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Patterned Paper - Recollections
3-d Bird sticker - K & Co
Oval Accordion (oval and scalloped oval)
A2 Pop 'n Cut base - Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Gift Card Holder - Karen Burniston (Sizzix, Snippets Collection)

Christmas Cards!

Good morning friends!

Today's post is rather random … just trying to clean up some older photos and these are Christmas cards that I haven't yet posted. I wasn't really keeping track of the supplies when I was making these, so there isn't' a supply list.

These first three cards feature a bronze pearlized card stock for the ornaments and deer. It catches the light, and while it looks rustic, it gives a soft shimmer look as well.

The five cards below are also A2; the printed cards were in a package I found on clearance. I added pretty felt and paper punched snowflakes to decorate the fronts.

This next one is a 6" square card, using this lovely vintage image from patterned paper by K & Co. I stamped the 'ho ho ho' on the front, then popped the whole thing up on the folded card.

I think I made this next card for a sketch last fall, but never did get it posted. The metallic gold embellishment is by K & Co.

… and this is what I stamped inside:

For this next card, the velvet ribbon I added is SO pretty. I have to remember to use it again for my cards this year.

For the final card, I fussy cut two journal cards from a piece of printed paper and trimmed the top and bottom green portions from one of them. Then I popped both up over the original design on the first piece using foam tape. Punched snowflakes were also added …

So there you have it - a bunch of A2 sized Christmas cards ready for my stash.

C4C246 What's The Buzz?

Good morning friends!

It's time for another challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenge Blog, and our hostess Frances Byrne has asked us to 'Make a Card With More Than One Fold'.  I pulled out a bunch of older Karen Burniston dies for this one!

I paper pieced the stamped bees so they would have white glittery wings.  :-)

I know the Pop 'n Cut dies are now only available in select stores, but those of you that already own them will know how fun they are to get out and play with again and again.

We would sure love you to play along with the challenge, and link up your project. Be sure to check out what the rest of the Crazies have come up with for the challenge, at the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  (If you link up to an on-line gallery, please use the keyword C4C246.)

Sparkly Birthday Flip-It Cards

Good morning friends!

It's Flip-It Friday on my blog, and today I have two different Flip-It cards to share. This first one uses the Sizzix Circle die and sparkly patterned paper.

The second card is just as sparkly, but more suited to a man. I used a Flip-It Framelit for this card, which is exclusive to The Stamps of Life. Both cards are going into my donation box for Seniors Secret Service.

This sparkly patterned paper has almost a fabric feel to it. It's neat stuff! I used Silver Peel-Off's that I've had in my stash for several years - I have no idea where I picked them up.

Supplies used for First Card:
Circle Flip-It, Stephanie Barnard - Sizzix
Patterned paper - DCWV (Sorbet)
Butterfly punch - Martha Stewart
Circle dies - Spellbinders

Supplies used for Second Card
Fancy Edge Flip-It Framelit - Stephanie Barnard, The Stamps of Life
Sparkly polka-dot patterned paper - American Crafts
Silver Peel-Off's - from my stash
