Good morning friends.
Welcome to the first day of Karen Burniston's November 2014 Designer Challenge. Karen challenged us to create a card that was all red, all white or all blue. For today's card I chose blue, but I also did a red card and a white card ... to be shared in the coming days.
Here is the front of my blue card ... it features the All Seasons Tree and the snowflakes that come with it.
I cut the tree twice from white card stock, adhering the two together and stippling them with a shaving brush and blue ink. This thicker tree was then adhered to the trimmed panels. The snowflakes have Glitter Dots in the centre because I love the sparkle it gives them. Hey - I love Glitter Dots on just about everything for the holidays.
Inside, I made a Double Lorna Pop Up with Dutch the Fox as a 'Silver Fox'. She is perched on the top Lorna Label Pop up, with sponged background hills. (I used the Outdoor Edges to make the stencil to create the hills, die cutting them out of card stock so they can be re-used many times).
The pearlized blue card stock I had in my scrap bin and it worked perfectly for my Silver Dutch. I also used a scrap of white pearl for her white accents and black brads for her eyes. Then I perched a snowflake on her ear.
I love the look of a circle on the Lorna Label - and I wanted the Merry Christmas Peel Off to be be blue and not silver. So I coloured it with a blue Copic Marker before adhering it to the stitched circle from the Ring Accordion.
Next to Silver Dutch is an All Season's Tree that again was done with two layers and blue stippling to make it nice and sturdy. The other two trees are single layers and adhered right to the back layer.
Glitter Dots were adhered to the snowflakes on the inside as well. The sheer blue variegated ribbon was tied around the inside piece before I attached the inside to the outer card. That keeps the ends secure and you can't see the ribbon on the back of the card.
Make sure to check out the rest of Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge team - they are linked on the right side of my blog. Karen will have her post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog on Wednesday.
