Good morning friends
It's time for the Designer Challenge at Elizabeth Craft Designs, and this month Joset challenged us to make GIFTS, not cards. With the holiday season fast approaching, I immediately thought of hostess gifts and have two to share today.
My first project is a little tin with wrapped chocolates inside.
Once the chocolates were wrapped with sparkly patterned paper, I put them inside the tin and started decorating the top. A 'belly band' holds the tin closed, but is easily removed to access the yummy goodness inside. I decorated the 'belly band' with Glitter Peel-Off borders, a die cut flower and holly leaves. Both the flower and leaves were die cut using Shimmer Sheetz and the metal adapter plate, then I embossed the flower portions for additional texture. The bends and dips from the embossing folder catches the light beautifully!
To get the corners of the paper to match the corners of the tin, I traced one corner of the tin onto a scrap of card stock and cut it out on the pencil line. Then I simply traced it onto the back side of the trimmed patterned paper and cut that out.
For my second project, I made a topper for a cello bag using the new Tags & More - 1 Lace die. It cuts such a pretty shape, and you can make any length of tag you want. I cut two pieces of green card stock 4-1/2 x 3" and ran them through my machine at the same time.
To do this, centre the Tags & More -1 Lace base shape at the top centre, but stop the cutting pad 1-1/2" up from the bottom edge. You only want to cut the fancy top edge, and 1/2" down each side.
Cut the top edges away as shown, leaving you with your topper all ready to decorate.
Once the top was cut away, I embossed the pieces with the Sprig embossing folder. This is a new ECD design, and it's going to get a LOT of use.
I also die cut a tag and stamped 'To & From" on it with red ink. After adding the candy to the bag, folding over the top edge and stapling it in the centre, I sandwiched it in between the green toppers. Below is a photo that shows where I put the tape. The topper on the left was adhered first, then the one on the right by lining up the holes and edges.
To get the glittery sprigs and reinforcement, I added Silk Microfine Glitter to a strip of (card stock backed) double sided adhesive. Once the excess glitter was poured back into the jar and the strips were polished with my fingers, I was easily able to die cut the glittery shapes.
I wanted the Season's Greetings Peel-Off to be red, so I coloured it with a red Sharpie marker before peeling it off the sheet and adhering it to the cello bag.
I couldn't help myself, and added a couple of red Glitter Dot Peel-Off's too. You know I love those Glitter Dots! Then I tied a red polka dot bow at the top.
The bags can be filled with all kinds of goodies, depending on your hostess' preferences - and a decorated topper adds that special touch.
