Elizabeth Craft Designs, November Designer Challenge

Good morning friends

It's time for the Designer Challenge at Elizabeth Craft Designs, and this month Joset challenged us to make GIFTS, not cards. With the holiday season fast approaching, I immediately thought of hostess gifts and have two to share today.

My first project is a little tin with wrapped chocolates inside.

Once the chocolates were wrapped with sparkly patterned paper, I put them inside the tin and started decorating the top. A 'belly band' holds the tin closed, but is easily removed to access the yummy goodness inside. I decorated the  'belly band' with Glitter Peel-Off borders, a die cut flower and holly leaves. Both the flower and leaves were die cut using Shimmer Sheetz and the metal adapter plate, then I embossed the flower portions for additional texture. The bends and dips from the embossing folder catches the light beautifully!

To get the corners of the paper to match the corners of the tin, I traced one corner of the tin onto a scrap of card stock and cut it out on the pencil line. Then I simply traced it onto the back side of the trimmed patterned paper and cut that out.

For my second project, I made a topper for a cello bag using the new Tags & More - 1 Lace die. It cuts such a pretty shape, and you can make any length of tag you want. I cut two pieces of green card stock 4-1/2 x 3" and ran them through my machine at the same time.

To do this, centre the Tags & More -1 Lace base shape at the top centre, but stop the cutting pad 1-1/2" up from the bottom edge. You only want to cut the fancy top edge, and 1/2" down each side.

Cut the top edges away as shown, leaving you with your topper all ready to decorate.

Once the top was cut away, I embossed the pieces with the Sprig embossing folder. This is a new ECD design, and it's going to get a LOT of use.

I also die cut a tag and stamped 'To & From" on it with red ink.  After adding the candy to the bag, folding over the top edge and stapling it in the centre, I sandwiched it in between the green toppers. Below is a photo that shows where I put the tape. The topper on the left was adhered first, then the one on the right by lining up the holes and edges.

To get the glittery sprigs and reinforcement, I added Silk Microfine Glitter to a strip of (card stock backed) double sided adhesive. Once the excess glitter was poured back into the jar and the strips were polished with my fingers, I was easily able to die cut the glittery shapes.

I wanted the Season's Greetings Peel-Off to be red, so I coloured it with a red Sharpie marker before peeling it off the sheet and adhering it to the cello bag.

I couldn't help myself, and added a couple of red Glitter Dot Peel-Off's too. You know I love those Glitter Dots! Then I tied a red polka dot bow at the top.

The bags can be filled with all kinds of goodies, depending on your hostess' preferences - and a decorated topper adds that special touch.

C4C264 Square Dance Day

Good morning friends

It's Saturday, and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog! Our November Hostess Frances Byrne came up with this:

"Square Dance Day
Apparently today is Square Dance Day, so to celebrate lets get those square cards, dies etc out! Bonus points if you incorporated Dancing somehow on your card as well."

I have a Christmas Flip-It card to share:

Not only is it square, I used a dancing Santa sticker animated with an Action Wobble. He bobs and wobbles around on the card - too much fun. I had to trim the Action Wobble to fit on the Santa, but it still works great.

Here is what is stamped on the reverse side of the circle ...

Check out the blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge.  We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and add the link to your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C264.

Word stamp - David Walker
Glitter Dots (green) - Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hanukkah Pull Card

Good morning friends

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and I have a Z-fold card to share today that I made for our daughter and her husband.

I used the Spiral Circle Pull Card die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs and I added the spiral inside.  The dreidel's  were stamped and fussy cut, then added to the spiral, with a little glitter on both the dreidel's and the popped up star.

I will have a second Hanukkah card to share in a week or so, as my parents asked me to make one for them to give our daughter and family as well.

Supplies:
Spiral Circle Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
1134 - Gold Border Peel-Off's - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Stamps - CASual Stamps
Label punch - Stampin' Up

Spiral Circle Pull Card for Karen Burniston

Good morning friends

Today I have another card using the Spiral Circle Pull Card  (SCPC) die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I've been having so much fun with this die lately, and wanted to send a card to Karen B to brighten her day. Everyone loves getting Happy Mail!

I outlined the cute bird on the front circle with my sparkly gel pen, just for tun - then added glitter flower Peel-Off's.

The tiny flower die comes with the SCPC and each of them got a glittery flower Peel-Off in the centre.

When the card sides are pulled open, the spiral reveals letter stickers that spell "KAREN" with more flowers. I decorated the inside circle with more stickers from the pack.

Even with the spiral additions, this A2 card mailed flat for a single stamp.

Supplies
916 Spiral Circle Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs
Patterned paper  &  stickers - Basic Grey
7048 Glitter Flower Peel-Off's in Pink - Elizabeth Craft Designs

Christmas Wine Bottle Tags

Good morning friends

I have a bunch of Holiday Themed Wine Bottle Tags to share today.  These first ones have a beautiful champagne pearlized card stock base - it's heavyweight and just lovely stuff.  I used some 3-d Tags from K& Co to decorate the embossed, die cut label.

This next one has an accordion embellishment that was in my 'Odds & Sods' pile. The tag base is the same card stock as above, only in red. I added a small tag to this one to write a 'to & from' onto.

The third one has a charcoal pearlized card stock base, and a chipboard house embellishment from my stash.

I penned the greeting with a gold marker and tied on some gold figure.

The last tag is a really simple one, using patterned card stock as the base and a stamped greeting.

(Wine bottle tag dies from Papertrey Ink and My Favorite Things)

Ornament Z-Fold card for the Holidays

Good morning friends

I have been having fun with Karen Burniston's Spiral Circle Pull Card die, making some Christmas cards that are an A2 size and are completely flat for mailing.

The pretty ornament topper die comes with the Ring Accordion Album, and it was just crying to be cut out of gold Shimmer Sheetz.  I adhered some of the new double sided adhesive tape from Elizabeth Craft Designs to the back of the Shimmer Sheetz before die cutting, and I did use the metal adapter plate. Then I cut a 2nd ornament topper out of white card stock and attached the two together with the white one on the back.

I actually have a series of these cards! They were all made with the Spiral Circle Pull Card die to an A2 size, and they all use the same paper stack. I chose not to add the spiral to any of them - love that I have an option to use the spiral or not.

I was feeling frantic when I was making these, as I couldn't find the box of my finished Christmas cards. They turned up on the weekend, stored safely out at our cabin so the ones I just made are going into my stash for next year.

Spiral Circle Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

C4C263 World Hello Day

Good morning friends

It's Saturday, and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Here is the challenge our November hostess, Frances issued:

World Hello Day
Yesterday was World Hello Day ... So for our challenge this week let’s create a card that says “Hello”. Bonus points if your card shows some way that we can say Hello ... eg by using speech bubbles on your card, using a phone stamp/die; using letters/envelopes on your card; Image of someone sending or delivering mail; saying Hello is different languages etc.

I didn't use the word 'Hello', instead substituting 'Greetings'.  Same meaning, but it worked better with the penned sentiment inside.

Inside I made a Pop Up card (no surprise there) using the Lots of Pops Pop Up and the Holiday House die set. (Both by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.)

I made a large word bubble to pen the words onto (for the Bonus Points!) using a die from Paper Smooches. Note, since the patterned paper from this company tends to crack along the folds, I applied Washi Tape on the back side of each scored fold of the Pop Up for added security.

I finally found all my finished Christmas cards - they were stored out at our cabin to keep them 'safe' during our recent move. Turns out I have more finished than I thought, so this one is actually starting my 2015 Christmas card stash.  I like to work on our Christmas cards all year long so when it's time to send our cards, I have a big stash all finished and ready to go.

Check out the blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge.  We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy4Challenges blog and add the link to your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C263.
