A Little Birdie Told Me ...

Good morning friends.

I thought you might like an update on our little Olivia, who was recently diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension.  This is a degenerative disease with no cure, but we are all hopeful that advancements will be made in treatment.  The Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada calls people with the disease PHighters.

Three year old Olivia has a medicine pump (similar to an insulin pump) which is keeping her alive, and right now she is her happy, vibrant self in between the days where they have to up the medicine dose (once or twice a week).

The Children's Wish Foundation will grant Olivia a wish, so when that has been determined I'll be sure to share. Our daughter, her husband, and Olivia could sure use something joyful to look forward to these days.

Also, we want to send a huge THANK YOU to my friend J, who has dropped everything to make a couple of prototype 'pump holsters' for our Olivia. She can wear it under her clothes and it keeps the pump and tubes close to her so they can't get tangled (or fall in the toilet!!). J is more than happy to keep making adjustments to the design until they have the perfect ones.  Replacing a pump is $5000, but more than that - if the hose gets tangled in bed sheets, or caught on something and tugged loose, there is only 30 minutes to get a new one in and working before Olivia's lungs completely collapse. This is Serious Stuff, and we are grateful to everyone who is so willing to help.

Onto today's post - it's Flip-It Friday here on my blog and I have a masculine Birthday card to share today.

I cut the patterned paper incorrectly for this one, but simply flipped the black card base around so the the card flips opposite to how is usually opens. Ha!  The little foil owl is a sticker from a sheet of them I got in Arizona last Spring. They are SO cute!

Olivia spied them when she came to visit us last week, and she thought they were amazing. Which means, I'll have to make her a Love Note using them - and maybe even tuck a couple into her card for her to use. That girl loves to make cards.

The words on the flip side were hand lettered, then I tucked this card into my last donation box for Seniors Secret Service.

Supplies:
Black card stock
Patterned paper - The Paper Studio
Square Flip-It Framelit - Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix

Thanks for stopping by today.
