Foxy Pop 'n Cut Card

I have a fun Pop 'n Cut card to share today ... using one of those cute felt stickers I mentioned finding on clearance on Thursday's post.

Ahahaha - I know, but sometimes I just have to do a corny card.  The 'smore' & words were trimmed from one of the journal cards in the 12 x 12" Scrapbook kit "Happy Camper" by Echo Park.

For the card I used the A2 Pop 'n Cut base with the Wavy Label insert and coordinating Wavy Label Framelits ... all by Karen Burniston.  The felt fox sticker is one from the package I found on clearance and I'm sure glad I bought them.  They are going to be SO much fun to play with even though I have no idea where I'm going to stash them in my studio.  ;-)

I also used a Chevron die from The Stamps Of Life, and other stickers from the package to finish the card off.

I haven't decided who I'm going to send this card to yet. I thought it would be a cute Love Note for the Grandkids, but since it's still making ME smile I think I'll be hanging onto it for a little while.

It's 'Flip-It Friday' here on my blog, and I have a Christmas Flip-it card to share today:

This card came together really quickly with a lovely pearlized patterned paper and sparkly 3-d sticker.

I stamped the words inside and ... done!

Squirrel Pop 'N Cut Card

Do you hear that? It's the sound of a dream shattering.

The dream of an organized studio where I have a few well organized embellishments, and when they run out I purchase a few more. That was the dream, that was the goal. To USE UP my huge embellishment hoard.

Sigh.

I found these adorable felt stickers ON CLEARANCE at Michaels after our Thanksgiving in October. I just could not walk away. Not only that, I couldn't walk away with only one or two packages - no siree. I put them ALL in my cart.  And did a little happy dance. Who needs a small stash of embellishments that are well organized? These things are SO flippin' cute!

I used one of the felt squirrels on this Thanksgiving card for a new friend ...

I added a tiny black brad for the nose, and he was ready to be attached to the card.  I am loving this Label Window insert for my Pop 'n Cut base ... and I have made several birthday cards with it to donate to Seniors Secret Service. (I'll share those another day).

I used the banner die from Karen Burniston's Border and Banners set and cut three banners. One from green, one from burgundy and one from Glimmer Paper.  (LOVE that stuff.) Each banner was cut in half, then I arranged three of the pieces on the front of the card. This is when I wish I had my Tiny Attacher with me - it would have been perfect. Glue dots had to work though ... it's all I have right now.

The remaining three banner pieces were trimmed and arranged inside the card.

I decided not to try to stamp and write directly on the printed paper, so trimmed a rectangle from a lightly patterned paper in the same stack and stamped on that. I die cut that little acorn out of a Glimmer Paper scrap, stamped the words and  the card was ready to pop in the mail.

Banner Thanksgiving Card

As soon as I got this package home, I had to play with it. It's a 12 x 12" Scrapbook kit by Echo Park called "Fall Fever", and I made a Pop 'n Cut card. No surprise there!

The 'Give Thanks' embellishment was fussy cut from one of the journal cards in the package, I popped it up over an strip of orange textured card stock.

Once again I have to say I LOVE the way this banner looks when it's all assembled. Such a fun little die! I used scraps of the textured card stock to cut out the flags, and I attached them right to the brown base after inking the edges.

I added another label (with inked edges) as a place to add a signature and a little note. It just seemed to look better attached at an angle, so I went with it.

Leafy Thanksgiving Card

I needed a quick Thanksgiving card so I pulled out my Pop 'n Cut dies.  Just one of the many reason's I love my Pop 'n Cuts ... you can put together a card that impresses in just a few minutes!

I used some fall themed paper and added a strip of Stampin' Up's Glimmer Paper. I know I've talked about this before - but I LOOOOOVE this stuff. It is such good quality - the glitter doesn't flake off and the shine is incredible.  Adding just that little strip (and believe me, I save all but the tiniest scraps of this Glimmer Paper) made such a difference in how the card turned out.

Since the goal was a QUICK card, I decided to leave the front as it was, and not add words or anything else. I always think that brings more attention to the Pop Up portion anyhow.

I used my new favourite insert - Karen Burniston's 'Sassy Label' ... and also her coordinating 'Sassy Label and Stitched Frames' Framelits. The words were stamped on the smallest Framelit in the set - I love that one.

To give the inside a little 'shimmer & shine', I attached a scrap strip of the Glimmer Paper, and traced over the stitch lines and above/below the white strip with a Sakura Gel Pen. It catches the light when the card is turned, but doesn't show up well in photos.

Finally, I added some hand cut leaves from a gold foil embossed scrap and my card was done.

Done and in the mail ... I know the friend who receives this will be happily surprised.

Thanksgiving Treat Bags

Good morning friends!

This year I made little treat bags to put at everyone's place for our Thanksgiving dinner. I had purchased the Tim Holtz "In the Bag" die many months ago and I haven't used it nearly as much as I thought I would.  These bags were all cut from Kraft card stock ...

I kept them fairly simple since really, my family just wants the treats inside. These were more because I wanted to do them as part of my table decorations, than they would mean 'so much' to the family. The one exception would be my Mom - I know SHE loved them, and took both hers and Dad's home with them after dinner. :-)  (Our Canadian Thanksgiving was last month.)

Just for fun, I did try an extra one with an embossing folder and that was really cute. But I didn't have the time to run each of the THIRTEEN bags through twice with an embossing folder. I just tucked the idea away for another time, because these little bags make great Gift Card Holders!

I decorated the fronts with die cut leaves, a label to pen their name, a glittery sticker and a Bakers Twine Bow.  Inside were little cello bags filled with Candy Corn, which was also tied off with Bakers Twine.

I wish I'd had the camera out and focused on Olivia when she saw she was getting a whole BAG of treats.  This Gramma has a sensible side too though, and Olivia and Ethan's cello bags were quite a bit smaller than the adult ones.  :-)

Kraft card stock - Michaels

Acorn Thanksgiving Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends!

Pop-up cards are not new to me. In fact, I used to go into our kids schools at least once a year and teach the kids how to make a basic pop-up card. I'd haul all my stamps, ink pads, sponges etc and the kids would have fun learning stamping techniques and pop-ups. Oh, and Explosion Cards - they loved those too. Good times.

That being said, I haven't made a pop-up card in many years - for no other reason than I never thought to do it.  Enter Karen Burniston's Pop 'n Cut dies which I bought when we were visiting Arizona in the Spring.  Now unless I'm making my bulk cards for Seniors Secret Service -- I'm having trouble making a card that ISN'T a pop-up!

Today's share is the Thanksgiving card I sent to my friend Sue.  I have had this package of K&Co cut-away cards for quite awhile but haven't used too many of them. Now that pop-ups are on my brain, I attached two together and made a basic pop-up card...

The labels were stamped and cut and inked, and I attached the little die-cut acorn, stamped words and a scalloped die cut border.

The metal 3-d sticker on the front was in a package I found at Michaels - it worked perfectly for the front of the card.

I was pretty happy with how the card turned out, and now I'm looking at the whole package of those patterned cards with new eyes.

Supplies used:
Patterned Card - K&Co
3-d sticker - Recollections
Label dies - My Favorite Things
Happy Thanksgiving stamp - unknown
Grateful stamp - Stampin' Up
Acorn die - Memory Box
Scalloped border die - My Favorite Things

Wintertime Kit Pop 'n Cut Card #4

Good morning friends!

Today's share is a Christmas card ... the 4th one I made using a 12 x 12" Scrapbook kit called "Wintertime" by Bella Road. Once again, I made a Pop 'n Cut card!

Once again I matted a trimmed journal card and stamped the words on the front. I knotted a ribbon around the front of the card then popped up the snowman panel with foam tape.

When you attach the inner pop-out layer to the base layer, it completely hides the ribbon - love that.

I tried to use only the kit for this card series, but this one also got some punched snowflakes from my stash and a die cut, stamped circle.

Another finished card for my Christmas Card Stash!

Sparkly Flip-It Birthday Card

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and today's share is a birthday card I made to donate to Seniors Secret Service.

I used some glittery card stock that I've had for a couple of years - and the CREASE PAD when I cut my Flip-It.

The card made up really quickly, and I love how cheery it is with the bright colours and bling.

First Chair Pop 'n Cut

Good morning friends!

First of all, today is the day that Karen Burniston does her Sizzix Blog post ... check it out later this morning HERE.   All the designer projects - and links - in one handy post, as well as Karen's project for the challenge! Hold onto your hats and be prepared to be amazed and inspired!

Secondly - today's card is a Pop 'n Cut card ... and that makes SIXTY Pop 'n Cut posts on my blog! Can you tell I'm a big fan of Pop 'n Cut dies?

Finally, onto today's share.  When I get a great new die, usually the first card I make a card gets sent to my Mom.

Karen Burniston's 'chair' insert for the Pop 'n Cut bases is one of those great new dies. And I made a card for my Mom. Just a simple card, but I knew she'd get a kick out of the chair pop out portion.  I used a 12 x 12" patterned paper for the decoration part. The little critter on the front of the card is from the bottom left of the paper.

The clouds, grass and bird are from the right hand side of the sheet. I cut the chair portion again using red paper, and attached it over the pop up chair that cut with the cloud piece.  I also attached a small piece of the same patterned paper over the opening behind the chair, to make everything but the red 'disappear'.

I added a die cut label to pen a note on, and sent it on it's way ...

Gregg's sister and brother-in-law frequent the Miskoka's, so I'm planning on using this chair die for their birthday cards next year.

Joy Banner

Good morning friends!

Today's share is my third project for Karen Burniston's Sizzix Designer Challenge "Crafting Red with Stitched Framelits"  I decided to make a holiday banner...

The letters were cut out with a Sizzix die from sparkly glimmer paper and embellished with 3-d stickers from K&Co.

I chose to use Karen's Labels and Stitched Frames (from her Snippets collection) for the base and layers, adding a stitching line to the base layer with one of the coordinating dies in the set.

I quickly went over the lines with a sharp brown pencil crayon ... just to give them some oomph. This takes just seconds, since the debossed stitch lines are already there. Some people stitch on their cards and some don't. I don't - but I sure like having dies to give me the LOOK of stitching!

I have a couple of places that to tie this banner on when I go to decorate for the holidays - and I'm thinking they might make nice gifts too! Dies make them so easy to cut perfectly, and decorate assembly line style.

Supplies used: (Sizzix links are clickable)
Labels and Stitched Frames - Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Glimmer paper - Michaels
3-d stickers - K&Co
Cherry Cobbler seam binding - Stampin' Up
Patterned paper - Stampin' Up (retired)
