Beachy Whiskers the Cat Card

Good morning friends

Today's beach card is one that I made as a sample for CHA and it uses lots of Karen Burniston's new Pop it Ups dies through Elizabeth Craft Designs.

The front has all three of the new Beach Edges, and the cute pail from the Palm Tree and Pail set. Karen B designed the pail handle to hook on and hang just like a real pail. Brilliant!  I added some fish-bones from the new Props 4, cut out of white pearlized card stock.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

There are more fish bones sprinkled around the sand, along with a satisfied looking 'Whiskers' - another new Character die. The inlaid paw print comes with the new Props 4 dies, and I hand lettered the words.

Love those Palm Trees ... I cut each palm tree from cork paper, 2 layers of Kraft and once from green card stock. The two kraft layers were adhered together for extra stability, I added the cork layer, trimmed the green fronds and adhered them over the cork. The coconuts were cut from bronze pearlized card stock for a bt of shimmer..  Both the Palm Trees and Whiskers are mounted onto the Lots of Pops pop up die.

The new Whiskers the Cat character is SO cute and fun make. You can change her expression by changing up her eyes, so for this one I added eyelids and turquoise Glitter Dots. After apparently eating all those fish, no wonder she's looking a tad smug.

The clouds are cut from white velvet self-adhesive sheets for a light, fluffy feel.

The Lots of Pops die cuts that larger platform and bump in the centre, as well as two on either side that don't come into the card as much as that centre platform. However, when I tried to mount the palm trees to those they were too close together and I didn't like the look. I wanted them further apart but still pop out.  I used one of Karen Burniston's ideas, and cut an additional Lots of Pops from a scrap of the oatmeal speckled paper. Then I trimmed away the two side platforms, discarding the rest. The two platforms were adhered to the card bottom and back then I adhered the Palm Trees. To finish them off I added two little sandy mounds that come with the Garden Bench set.
