C4C275 Water Scene

Good morning friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog.  Our hostess gave us this challenge:

"Create a water scene to celebrate the 2 Zodiac signs of February; Aquarius and Pisces. "

Of course I had to use Karen Burniston's new dies and make a Water Scene Pop Up Card!

All three of the Beach Edges were used for the card front. I added colour by sponging and chalking, and the lowest layer of sand (which is actually one of the Outdoor Edges) has some copper Silk Microfine Glitter added to it.

I love Rocky the Crab character die and am happy for any occasion to use it.  He is popped up on the front of the card with foam tape.

Inside, Rocky appears again - this time holding a camera. This is the birthday card my parents gave our son-in-law, who is a photographer.

Elizabeth Craft Designs has come out with an Alphabet die and it is the perfect size for personalizing cards. You will be seeing a lot of it - from me and the rest of the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Team, from the Elizabeth Craft Designs Design Team, and all over the web as customers snap up this handy die. I cut it from adhesive backed patterned paper (made using the  ECD Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape) which makes them easy-peasy to adhere.

The 'Birthday' was cut using the same patterned paper as Rocky, using the Happy Birthday Pop Up birthday decorator die. All the letters were chalked on the bottom for an ombre look before adhering them to the Lucy Label Pop Up card.

Check out the blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge.  We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C275.

Tree Flip It's Duo for Seniors Secret Service

Good morning friends

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and I have a couple of masculine Birthday Cards to share today.

I used the Circle 2 Flip-It's and some patterned paper scraps for the layers. I love that I can use up so many of my scraps and still end up with a polished looking card.

I have had this tree die for quite a while, so was tickled to see how well it matched this patterned paper. I die cut the tree out of coordinating paper, inked the edges and added it to the inside of the card.

On this second card, the tree die didn't really go as well ... but there was nothing wrong with the embossed tree trunk part.  So I punched some flowers from green patterned paper, inked the edges and adhered them behind the tree trunk.

There isn't room for any writing on the patterned paper, so I adhered white labels to the back of the black card bases. Both these cards were donated to Seniors Secret Service.

Patterned card stock - Recollections
Circle Flip It #2 - Stephanie Barnard (Sizzix), The Stamps of Life

'You Make Me Smile' Accordion Card

Good morning friends

Elizabeth Craft Designs has new Peel-Off's that coordinate with some of Karen Burniston's new Pop it Ups dies. I just had to play with these pretty Flower Vases again, so adhered them to water colour paper. I thought I'd try using pencil crayons and Gamsol, but they just didn't blend as nicely as I was hoping ... so I ended up going over the flowers and vases with my Tombow Markers and a wet brush.

When Els designs the Peel-Off's, she often puts little goodies in the spaces ... and that is where I got these bees from. They come on the Roses in Oval Peel-Off's ... so I adhered them to cream card stock and added colour with Tombow's.  To get the glitter on their wings, I added glue from a glue pen then sprinkled on the Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.  Once the glue was dry I lightly polished the glittered areas with my fingers to bring out the shine.

I used the new Accordion Rectangle with the new Katie Flourish Frame Edges to create the card. To make the Edges easy to adhere, I backed the green patterned paper with transparent double sided adhesive sheets then die cut them. The thin liner on the new ECD double sided adhesive makes them SO easy to die cut.

Here is the card open ... I added border Peel-Off's down each side, and coloured in the open circles with a Tombow marker.

This is the back of the card when it is closed up ... the front is in the top picture, above.

972 Accordion Rectangle, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Pop Stand Love Notes

Good morning friends

I have a couple of Love Notes to share today ... I like to pop Love Notes in the mail for our Grandkids, as they love to get mail of their own.

I had just picked up this cute Paper Stack on sale and wanted to use it right away. I also wanted to use one of the Pop Stand dies that Karen Burniston released at CHA through Elizabeth Craft Designs. Pop Stands is a new category in the Pop it Ups line.  I used the Pop Stand die from the Eiffel Tower Pop Stand as I wanted to animate something other than the Eiffel Tower. Worked like a charm!

Here is the front of Olivia's card ...

Inside, the card opens completely flat and these journal cards stand up inside. Pop Stands - get it?

This is the back side ...

Here is Ethan's card ...

I thought these 'King and Queen' journal cards were so fun - I just matted them with black card stock and attached them to the Pop Stand tabs.

This is the back of Ethan's ...

Zachary gets a Love Note too - but not a Pop-Up. At 9 months, he'd have it torn apart waaaaay to fast. I just fussy cut some of the patterned paper pieces to make up his card.

Supplies:
978 Eiffel Tower Pop Stand, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
915 Lorna Label Pop Up (Stitched Label), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
506 Elizabeth Craft Designs Transparent Double Sided Tape 6mm (1/4")

Cupcake Birthday Pull Card

Good morning friends

Something about this stack of patterned paper makes me want to make Birthday Cards with it. Since we have several Birthday's in May, I thought I'd work ahead and create one of those Birthday Cards.

I made this card when we were visiting Arizona last month, and I couldn't bring many supplies with me in my carry-on. I DID bring several of Karen Burniston's Pop it Ups dies - the Rectangle Pull Card was one of them.

Before I adhered the centre rectangle to the card, I added a strip of wash tape towards the bottom. The little cupcake was stamped 3x on different patterned papers in the stack, then paper pieced together to form one image. I added some shading with pencil crayons, and some glitter glue to the dots and heart on the cupcake.

The little notch that cuts with the Rectangle Pull Card keeps it closed until the recipient pulls the sides. This is the card on the inside:

I bought a new Birthday stamp set, as I make a LOT of Birthday Cards. I paper pieced the 'CELEBRATE' banner, and added some washi tape and more glitter.

I couldn't resist adding the little 'ice cream' stamp on the right side of the card, so it got the glitter treatment also.

I think this is just a fun and happy Birthday Card, and I know the gal I made it for will like it too.

Supplies:
974 Rectangle Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
972 Accordion Rectangle Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
White card stock
Patterned paper - DCWV
Washi Tape
Word Stamp - Stampin' Up
Cupcake stamp - Michaels
Pencil Crayons
Gamsol and blending stump
Stickles
Card size - 4-1/2 x 6"
