Silhouette Birthday Card

Good morning friends

I am loving the new Western Edges by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. For Masculine Card Monday on my blog, I made a western themed Birthday card. (The newest collections will be shipping to retailers in early August(.

I found this patterned paper in my stash and knew it would be perfect with these new dies. The Barbed Wire was cut from black card stock, and the Happy Birthday was cut from Black Velvet.

The inside is my favourite part. I folded the black card stock (lightweight) in half, and die cut the horse edge. That gave me the mirrored images.

Barn Birdhouse Card

Good morning friends

I have a fun flat card to share today, made using the Barn Pop Stand card by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

With the help of a stitched circle die, I turned the barn into a birdhouse.  Then I adhered it to white card stock and hand cut a mat layer around the assembled barn birdhouse. The little bird was fussy cut from a scrap of patterned paper in the same stack.

Barn Pop Stand, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Blueprints #12 (Small Circle) - MFT
Patterned paper - DCWV
Brown card stock - Stampin' Up

C4C295 Sketch

Good morning friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. I am the hostess for July, and my amazingly talented Designer Challenge Teammate & friend Kelly Booth is our Guest Designer.

Since it''s the third Saturday of the month, the challenge is a SKETCH CHALLENGE and I have an easy but very versatile sketch for you.

I used the sketch to make some Love Notes for our Grandkids, and one to send to someone special. For the Grandkids I used some of my new 'hugs' dies.

For this final card, I tucked in a vertical scalloped edge and used the MISTI to stamp on the banner.

Check out the blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C295.

Birthday Owl Pull Card

Good morning friends.

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and I have a cheerful Z-fold card to share today using one of my favourite Karen Burniston Pop it Up dies - the Spiral Circle Pull Card.

This paper pad seems to be never-ending, I can't tell you how many cards I have made with it and it doesn't look like there is more than a small dent in it. Good thing I really like the colours and patterns! I paired it with a fun chipboard sticker owl for this birthday card.

The tuck slots keep the card in the closed position until the recipient pulls the side to open it. Here is a peek at the inside ...

Supplies:
Spiral Circle Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Blueprints #12
Patterned paper - DCWV
Cream card stock - The Paper Studio

Black & Teal Note Card

Good morning friends

It's Throwback Thursday on my blog, and I have an older note card to share that I made a very long time ago and didn't get posted.

I remember our daughter had given me some felt tape, and I immediately put it to use on this card.

I do know that those sweet labels are by Verve, but that's it for the known supply list.

Karen Burniston's July 2015 Designer Challenge ... Red and Kraft

Good morning friends

Today's share is my third card for Karen Burniston's July Designer Challenge:  "Homegrown Holidays - here's your chance to celebrate Christmas (or other winter holiday) on the farm. Create a holiday card with a country feel, using any Pop it Ups dies including (but not limited to) the brand new Farm 2 and Merry & Bright."

Once again I went with red and Kraft. I thought it would be fun to add the Barbed Wire (from the new Western Edges), and the Outdoor Edges as well. Here is the front of the card:

I LOVE the detail on this barbed wire!

Inside I used the new Merry Christmas Pop-Up. Oh, this die is going to get a lot of use this year for the holidays.

Here is the side view so you can see the Pop-Up a little better.

To make the red Merry Christmas pop more on the gingham shadow, I outlined them with a fine point black marker. I also added chunky  glitter glue to the hearts & trees and used the new Merry & Bright clear stamps for the greetings.

Karen Burniston will have her post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog later this morning, so be sure to check it out!!

Karen Burniston's July 2015 Designer Challenge Sleigh Gift Card Holder

Good morning friends

Today's share is my second card for Karen Burniston's July Designer Challenge "Homegrown Holidays - here's your chance to celebrate Christmas (or other winter holiday) on the farm. Create a holiday card with a country feel, using any Pop it Ups dies including (but not limited to) the brand new Farm 2 and Merry & Bright."

I had the perfect patterned paper stack and I couldn't wait to try Karen Burniston's new Sleigh Gift Card Holder Pop-Up. Oh. My. Goodness - this die is positively brilliant!  It comes with an optional angled platform and I knew I wanted to add a 'Chilly the Penguin turned Snowman' to that. Here is how I made my Chilly Sowman:

First, I cut Chilly's Shadow layer from white card stock and trimmed it as shown ...

Then I cut the hat from Props 1 from charcoal pearlized card stock and trimmed it as shown:

I didn't want a huge carrot nose as in the patterned paper, so I trimmed a 'Cheepers the Chicken' beak as shown ...

I added some pen stitching and Glitter Dots, sponged the edges and I had my little country snowman! I wanted to add the branches from the new Props 5 for snowman arms, but they didn't work for this card. I'll be doing that for sure on another card though!

Here is the front of the card. The 'Winter' was fussy cut from a different paper in the stack, and the round stamp (Santa Says and Nice!) are from Karen Burniston's new Merry & Bright clear stamps, which are available now at Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I apologize for the terrible photographs. But - here is the inside - you can see the Sleigh Pop-Up and my little Chilly the Snowman. So fun!

The embellishments were fussy cut from different papers in the stack. I added a little heart to Chilly the Snowman's hat, cut from Poppy the Owl.  I stamped Merry Christmas on the card from the new Merry & Bright Clear Stamps.

There is a slot that cuts with the Gift Card Holder, so I added a tag (from the Tags Pivot) to that, with a hand lettered 'peeking'.  The heart with NO on it was fussy cut from patterned paper. I didn't have a gift card that I could add to the card for photographs, so instead I used the smallest rectangle from the Accordion Rectangle to cut a sample. It fits in the tuck slots perfectly!

Here is a side view so you can see the Pop Up better, and how a Gift Card tucks in behind the sleigh. The sleigh, by the way - is independent of the Pop-Up mechanism so you can use it on it's own and add other things to the Pop-Up platform to use it year round.

Both the Farm 2 and the Merry & Bright Collections will be shipping to retailers in early August. Be sure to contact your local shop to place your pre-orders! I will be back tomorrow with a third card for the Designer Challenge and Karen Burniston will have her post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog. The Designer Challenge team is linked on the right of my blog, so you can also check out all the wonderful creations that they have come up with for this fun theme.
