Birthday Flip-It Cards for Seniors

Good morning friends.

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and I have four nearly identical cards to share today. I had fun using up bits and pieces from a paper stack to make these birthday cards for Seniors Secret Service.

Each card uses the Fancy Edge Flip-Its and paper flowers, with the birthday words on the flip side.

Since these are obviously cards for ladies, I added some bling as well.

I like to think the Seniors enjoy getting interactive cards like this on their special day.

Tag Gift Card Holder with Slot

Good morning friends.

It's my day to post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog, and I have a Tag Gift Card Holder to share today.  The Design Team has been making all kinds of things with these Tags & More die sets, and I wanted to show you how to use the little tab that comes with the Tags & More 2 - Deco to create a slot to insert your gift card.

Below is the tutorial I wrote for the post:

1.  Cut your patterned paper to 3-1/4 x 12"

2.  Score in the centre at the 6" mark to create a 3-1/4 x 6" tag card with the fold at the BOTTOM.

3.  Keeping the edges even, cut through both layers at the top (open ends) using the tag base die.

4.  Unfold the card, and cut the decorative insert in the top layer only. This will be the front of your Tag Gift Card Holder

5.  Take the tab die and place it in the centre of the top layer, 2-1/4" from the top edge. Run it through your die cutting machine.

6.  Now move the tab horizontally to the left - about 1/4" from the left edge and making sure the top and bottom edges line up with the cut you just made.

7.  Repeat with the other side.

8.  Insert your gift card into the slot and decide how much of it you would like to stick out of the slot at the front.  

9.  Working from the inside, add liquid glue below the gift card, up each side and around the top edges. Carefully remove the gift card, fold your Tag Gift Card Holder together with the wrong sides together and press until the glue sets. Note: I like to use liquid glue rather than double sided tape for this type of project, as sometimes the gift card can slide down and attach itself to the tape if you use double sided tape instead.

This is what your Tag Gift Card Holder should look like, once the glue is dry.  I added the gift card back in for this photo.

10.  Cut a piece from double sided tape and a piece of white card stock to 3-1/4 x 2".  Peel off the liner from one side of the adhesive tape sheet and adhere it to the white card stock.

11.  Peel off the remaining liner and pour on Solar Gold Silk Microfine Glitter.  Tap off the excess and return to the jar, then burnish the glitter in with your fingers. This really brings up the shine!

12.  Cut a second decorative tag insert from this piece, staying close to the top and left edge of your glittered paper.  Save all the little pieces as these are what we will be using.

13.  Adhere each of the glittered cut out's from step into the opening on the top layer of your Tag Gift Card Holder. 

14.  Using the accessories that come with the Tags & More 2 - Deco set, cut two corners and one reinforcement from your glittered card stock.

15.  Adhere them to your tag and add Glitter Dots as shown.

16.  Take the gold border Peel-Offs and carefully outline your slot. Press down well.

17.  Tie red seam binding around the Tag Gift Card Holder below the slot.

18.  Tie another piece of red seam binding at the top with some gold Bakers Twine.

19.  Add a large gold Merry Christmas Peel Off below the bow.

Because we used a folded piece of patterned paper, the Tag Gift Card Holder is nicely finished on the back as well.

Now that you know how to add a slot to a Gift Card Holder, you can add slots for other reasons asa well. I immediately think of a Spinner Card. In fact, that is what I will have for you the next time I post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog!

Thanksgiving Wine Bottle Hanger

Good morning friends

Elizabeth Craft Designs has a new double sided adhesive tape - in full sheets all the way through to smaller rolls.  They sent a sample to each of the Design Team members to play with but mine has not arrived yet. One of the joys of moving into a rural area is that ECD can no longer courier samples to me because of the outrageous cost. However, most of the design team has received theirs and everyone thinks it's a great product.

Because we are going to be in Arizona for a few more days, I placed an order for some of this new tape -- simply on the rave reviews of my fellow team mates.  I played with it yesterday and I understand what all the fuss is about.  This tape is strong but the liner is nice and thin so it die cuts easily. I can't wait to play with my ECD glitters with this tape, because it is transparent.  No more yellow cast to our glitter peel-off snowmen!

Today's post is a quick one -- a Wine Bottle Tag I made for Thanksgiving.

Stampin' Up Glimmer Paper is SOOO pretty - that is what I used to cut the two champagne glasses from and they sparkle and catch the light.

Kraft Thinking of You - a Pop it Up card

Good morning friends.

Today's share is an older card - one of the first ones I made with Karen Burniston's (then brand new) Pop it Ups dies.  I was in Arizona at the time, and only lad limited supplies ... but I think the card turned out pretty cute. Just goes to show you, you don't need a ton of stuff to make cards.  That being said, I have a ton of stuff at home.  Wink.

The chipboard butterfly was rubbed with pink ink to tie it in with the rest of the card. I fussy cut the log ring from a piece of coordinating paper in the stack.

Inside I used the Lucy Label Pop Up and another chipboard butterfly.

As I said, this card was made when the Pop it Ups dies were just being released through Elizabeth Craft Designs. I was SO excited about them ... and when I look at these photos I can easily recall the excitement. Know what? I'm STILL excited about the Pop it Ups.  Wafer Thin dies that allow YOU to decide on the card size and where on the fold you want your animation to be. What's not to get excited about?

The Kraft card base I used is from a card/envelope package from Hobby Lobby. The folded cards in these packages are usually just a little smaller than the standard A2.

Gopher Masculine Birthday Card

Owl Thanksgiving Card for Olivia

Good morning friends.

I have one last Thanksgiving card to share today - this is the one I made for our Granddaughter Olivia.

Love these Character dies by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs, and when I saw this owl patterned paper I knew I'd have to pair it with Poppy the Owl.

I didn't add Poppy's feet this time, instead perching her on a strip of fabric Washi Tape.

C4C260 - Movember Ring Accordion

Good morning friends.

Saturday brings a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges blog.  Our hostess for November is Frances Byrne, and our Guest Designer is Tanya Adams http://www.studio5380.com

Frances' challenge this week is "Movember - Let’s Celebrate “Movember” by including a moustache somehow on your cards ... big or small all moustaches are welcome! "  I went with a small moustache, heh.

But let's start at the beginning, shall we?

I used a bunch of Karen Burniston's dies for this card ... mostly because she has come out with these new Frames for the Ring Accordion. You get FOUR different frames in the die set and I've been itching to play with them.

The stars are from her new Happy Birthday Pop Up ... I'm not usually a star person, but I'm trying to embrace them. These got some shimmer using my Wink of Stella pen.  I also added some hand lettering to the panel that shows when the card is closed.

Here is the card open - it's a 3 panel Ring Accordion, with Hoppy the Frog in various positions.  Two are wearing moustaches from Karen B's Props 1. Just for fun you know, because it's Movember. (Click HERE to learn more about Movember).

The centre Hoppy was cut from patterned paper with embedded glitter, and I used scraps of glittered card stock (made using ECD's Silk Microfine Glitter) to cut glittery eye balls.  Glittery Eye Balls - now those are words I don't say very often.

Elizabeth Craft Designs has these new larger word Peel Offs, so I used a Happy Birthday on the back of the centre panel to finish the card off.
