Mini Cards, Set One

I have wanted to try my hands at making some mini cards (3x3") for some time now. I even bought some envelopes with my last SU order, and that was quite awhile ago!   Then, when I pulled out that glossy die cut bunny that I used to make our granddaughter's Easter card, I found these in the box. Glossy, scalloped edged, 3" folded cards WITH matching envelopes with a scalloped edges on the flap. SWEET!

 

I found some stickers that worked well with the coloured paper scraps I had on my stamping area, and made these three mini cards. I can see that they are going to be FUN to do and I plan on making more of these over the summer.

Then I decided to make a little box to put them in for gift-giving.  I used a 5" square of card stock, scored at 3/4" on all sides to make up the box base. A couple of snips and some Score Tape and I had the perfect size box for these three cards. That bird one is VERY dimensional and needed some extra room.

I used some crafting plastic transparancy to make the lid, cutting it at 5-1/8" square. Again, I scored it at 3/4" on all sides, snipped and attached with Score Tape.  I made a belly band out of another scrap of paper, and stamped/punched a label to finish it off.

Considering everything was already in my stash, I was very happy with this little gift idea.  Plus, it felt so good to USE things, especially the little cards. I've had them for at LEAST 10 years. 

Supplies:  Scalloped edges enclosure cards and envelopes - Stampendous.  'For You' Stamp - Hero Arts.  Label Stamp - SU.  Stickers, embellishments, patterned paper - all from my scrap bin and Odds & Sods pile.

Today we get to look after our daughter's puppy. That means we will have FOUR dogs at our cabin. FOUR. And our Mr. Cooper doesn't take too kindly to other dogs in 'his' house. So - lets all hope we can keep him from eating the puppy while she is in our care. Yikes! I'm going to have my work cut out for me for sure.

Heart Puppy

Here is another card in my 'puppy parade'. I used the same puppy stamp I've been playing with, and this time I tried a little something different with it.  First, I stamped the heart on scrap paper, and again on the white card panel. I cut the inside of the heart away from the scrap paper one, creating a mortise mask.

The mask was placed over the heart then the puppy was stamped on top. When I removed the mask, the puppy was inside the heart.

All the stamps are from "Stamps By Judith", other than the words which are Stampin' Up.  I penned the little strings and bows with a black fine tip markers.  Colour was added with pencils, sponges and Copic Markers.

 

I actually got a card made for the Clean And Simple Stamping Blog's sketch last Friday, but didn't have time to photograph it or get it uploaded.  With any luck I will get some of my studio dug out tomorrow and that should help streamline things.

Cat Sympathy Card

I needed to send my Sister-In-Law a sympathy card on the loss of their  family cat. I don't have many cat stamps, and the ones I do are funny or goofy; images that appealed to me because of their character and those ones do NOT loan themselves to a respectful card. So, this is what I came up with ...

I used a 4x6 Hero Arts card - that came printed with this pretty water colour wash. I stamped the cat face (All Night Media?) in charcoal ink on a white card stock scrap then cut it out with a Nestability label. The edges were sponged with blue ink and brown. The leaves (Sizzix) were cut out of white card and sponged with the same blue ink for consistency.

The words are by Stampin' Up.  On the envelope,  I used two stamps - a vine and dots ... both are 'Stamps By Judith' images.  I like how soft it looks, fitting for the card itself.

 

Sympathy cards are sure no fun to make. They will miss their family pet for a long time.

Birthday Puppy

Continuing on with the Puppy Parade, here is another card I made with that adorable puppy stamp by Stamps By Judith.

In fact, other than the words, all the stamps on this card are hers.  (See, I told you I had fun at her booth!!)

 This A2 card is for my nephew's fiance - a fellow dog lover. She is going to get such a kick out of this one, and that makes me happy.

 I used masking to get the party hat onto the puppy, and the next time I try this I will have to also mask the sides of the hat and get it a little further down on his head. It's sort of balancing in between his ears on this first attempt.

Another 'Prickles' Birthday Card

Here is another card using that C*U*T*E stamp, Prickles (Stamps by Judith).

This is a 5.25" square kraft card, and because of the colours used I'm adding it to my Masculine Card Monday lineup. 

Prickles was coloured in with pencils and mineral spirits, and I added a little Crystal Effects on his nose. I love that look on these cute critters!  After colouring, I used a Nestability die to cut it out and a 2nd, larger panel was cut out of patterned paper (Prima).

A square panel of kraft card stock was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, inked and added to a narrow confetti panel then everything was attached to the front of the card. I think Prickles' expression lends itself well to the words inside.  ;-)

I added a confetti white panel inside the card, stamped with a (Fiskars) image and some more dots.

I still really (REALLY) want to do Prickles holding a bouquet of flowers, sitting in a basket, sitting ON a flower pot or ??, and I have other ideas as well.  LOL - more ideas than time, I'm afraid.

A New Puppy! Card

Happy Easter, to those of you who are celebrating today. I do have one more Easter card to share, but it was in the envelope I sent to Sue for our April First exchange and I don't know if she has had a chance to open it yet. I don't want to spoil it by posting before she opens her envy, so I will post it later this week.

Our daughter and new hubby got a puppy, and I wanted to send them a card to welcome Tika into the family.  Tika is almost jet black - which didn't lend itself to much creative colouring. But when you have a stamp that has this much character, you don't need to do much to it. I think this was the first stamp I put in my basket at the 'Stamps By Judith' Booth (Mesa Rubber Stamp Show). 

It's a large stamp - this is a 5x7" card!  I used mostly chalks with some shadows added with pencil crayons, and some dog themed paper from my stash. The little heart is a peg stamp from the same booth.

 

I could not resist adding Crystal Effects to the nose, since the card itself was so basic.  The gems on her collar were dotted with my Sakura gel pen for a tiny bit of shimmer & shine.

You will be seeing more of this image for sure - I just get SUCH a kick out of it.

Springtime Puppy Card

Springtime does mean puppies, doesn't it?  :-)  This is one of my new stamps from the 'Stamps By Judith' booth at the Mesa Rubber Stamp Show last month. There is just something about her critters that had me practically swooning.

This little pup was stamped with Momento Rich Cocoa ink, then coloured with Stampin' Up Watercolor Wonder crayons and a damp paintbrush. The dots around the grass are also one of her stamps, but that one I've had for many years.

Best Wishes is by Hero, the fancy label is a Nestability die and a SU oval punch.  The pretty paper is by Prima - one of several 6x6 paper stacks I got in my Christmas stocking.  (Thanks Mom!)


Nothing fancy, but this is one of those cards that just makes me smile. Probably because this puppy image makes me smile every time I see it!
