Card for Merry Monday Challenge 44

They are shaking things up over at Merry Monday, and instead of having only sketches they are going to have other challenges as well. This week is a colour challenge:

 I used the same Echo Park scrapbooking kit as yesterday's card, and since I don't have Island Indigo I substituted Baja Breeze.

The snowflake panel was cut from a 12x12 sheet of different panels - it had the perfect colours of snowflakes on it!  The blue card stock panel was embossed with a textured folder to give it just a little more interest.

The deer was stamped then fussy cut and popped up with foam tape. I coloured his scarf with a red Copic marker, and added glitter glue to his nose and the center of the snowflakes.

This is an A2 card, and will go towards the 40 or so Christmas cards my Mom sends out every year.

Making single Christmas cards is sort of new to me ... I usually do multiples. I am going to enjoy making a couple of single Christmas cards each week, and will be able to do matching envelopes this way.

Penguin Christmas Card

I am hoping to play along more with the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown challenge blog this year, and took some time this morning to check out this week's challenge.

This week is a sketch challenge:

 

I knew immediately that I wanted to use this adorable penguin stamp from 'Stamps By Judith'. It's been awhile since any of my 'Stamps By Judith' images have seen ink so it was time. I stamped the penguin on white card stock, added colour with pencils and markers, then stamped the heart (also 'Stamps By Judith).

I fussy cut the penguin and popped it up on a panel of patterned paper. All the patterned paper is from a 12x12" scrapbooking kit so everything coordinates. Well, everything except the blue chalk I added around the outside of the penguin on the envelope corner. :-) But I didn't have that shade of dark blue in chalk.

I added red stickles to the heart, and bakers twine to the corners of the panel. The penguin was popped up with foam tape, and so was his snowy panel!

That is a MFT stamp, and while it's hard to see - I stamped a 'Stamps By Judith' dots stamp around the words ... and on the envelope around the penguin.

So! Another Christmas card towards my 2013 card pile.

Elegant Black and White Card

I have a quick and easy card to share today - but it turned out just beautiful!

 This embossing folder was on my "Have To Have" list when it first came out, but I haven't actually found too many uses for it. Well, until I started using larger format cards than A2!  This folded white card base is 5 x 6.5".

I embossed a black card stock panel then added flat adhesive pearlized stickers. The card has a lovely elegance to it, but is completely mail friendly!

Poinsettia Christmas Cards

It's Saturday, which means I have a Christmas card to share today.  Three of them actually!

The patterned cards and word stickers are from a Christmas Card kit that I found a couple of years ago on clearance.  Everything coordinated which sure made it easy to put together some mail friendly cards.  I matted the word stickers on whtie card stock, and added a strip of red textured card stock across the center of the patterned A2 card front.

The Christmas flowers were made with some bridal flowers, glued together with some glitter glue in the center. They added a bit of shimmer to the cards.

These cards were mailed out in 2012, so they are not part of my (small) 2013 Christmas Card Stash.

Rattle Baby Girl Card

I have a sweet baby card to share today - although with the black background the photo doesn't have the same 'feel' that the card does in real life.

I started with a pastel coloured patchwork 4x6" card base from Hot Off The Press. I've had a package of them for years, found on clearance somewhere and then hoarded.  Sigh.

 The lovely baby rattle is a sticker (from my stash), attached to a rectangle of textured card stock. I attached the ribbon bow since the card was being hand delivered and not going through the mail.

The 'Blessings' word was stamped with pink chalk ink, and believe it or not - there was no foam tape used in the making of this card!

Vintage Floral Card

It's no secret that I love K&Co - pretty much everything they make. Last year I worked really hard at USING my stash and not just continue to add to it. A polite way to stay I tried to stop HOARDING. ;-)

This is a large, 5 x 6.5" card, and the 3-d flower stickers & pretty papers are by ... K&Co. I inked the edges of the papers to give them more of an aged look.

Quick and easy to put together when everything coordinates so nicely. I stamped Verve's 'Wishing You' with brown ink, and left the inside blank. That leaves several different occasions I can use this card for, stamping the appropriate words inside. Right into my card stash with this one!

Simple Note Cards

Happy New Year!

Today's share is another photo from my files - I had these leftover panels from some patterned paper and decided to trim & attach them to 4x6 card bases. Quick note cards are always handy to have on hand when a more time consuming card would be wasted.

 

These two cards - while simple - have some details to them.  One, the 4x6 size. The envelopes I have to go with them have a nice square flap. Two, the card bases are a lovely felt finish soft grey colour. Three, the patterned paper itself is nicely textured. And four, the cards are tall with a top fold. All little details that make the card much more than just slapping some patterned paper onto cardstock.
