Another Princess Card

In keeping with the Princess theme, this is the card that we made for Shae's 4th birthday.

I used a Sizzix die to cut the A2 shaped card out of pink 2 sided paper. The pennants were hand trimmed from a coordinating piece of patterned paper, the white textured label is from a Sizzix die, and the crown was leftover from the glittered chipboard stickers  I used on yesterday's card.

 

A princess card has to have BLING, so I added lots of adhesive gems.

The castles panel was from a third piece of patterned paper, trimmed to fit inside the card and the word stamp is by Gina K.  I made a third card for Shae, for my parents to give her. But I didn't take a picture of it!!!  It was a VERY glittery pony, done in pink and white and mauve, and lots of foam tape.

Sparkly Princess Card

My cousin (Shae's Grandma) asked for a special, sparkly, princess birthday card for Shae's 4th birthday. I was happy to oblige. 

This is a large card, it's 6" square and I used one of my (wonderful) 6.5" square envelopes, which left me room for the embellishments on the card.

I found these glittered chipboard stickers at our dollar store and knew they would be perfect for this card for Shae.

While the background doesn't show up well on the photos, I used torn scrap paper, ink and sponges to create hills and stamped (Posh) clouds.

I then did a simple pop up base for the sparkly castle to rest on, sponged some hills in behind it and added cloud die cuts and some die cut scallops.

I was able to add the bulky embellishments since the card was being hand delivered.

A fun card for a special little girl. I would have loved to have seen her face when she opened it at her birthday party.

Bird & Branches Card

I found this die at the Mesa Rubber Stamp Show,  and this is my first time using it. But it won't be the last -- it is such a nice cut!

I cut it out of Kraft card stock, and the negative piece looked so interesting I used it to make Sue's April 1st card.  This was supposed to be the 'test cut' but I liked the pieces so much I wanted to use them immediately. I dug through my stash and found this die cut card in colours that worked with the kraft die cut so put together a feminine card for my stash.

I glued the kraft die cut onto a Nestability label, cut from white card stock and the edges inked with blue ink. I popped it up onto the patterned card front (K&Co) with foam tape.

I added a white card stock panel matted with kraft, to the inside of the patterned card -- and will write the words inside when it is time to use the card.

When I was done, I set about cutting several more of these bird & branches to use on Easter cards.  Fun!

Tiny Miracle

Our holiday was coming to an end when we noticed something AMAZING in the little palm tree outside the front door of the house we were renting.

 

It was something I never thought I'd be lucky enough to see ...

Yes, that is a hummingbird, sitting on her NEST.  There were two eggs in the nest, unfortunately we wouldn't be able to stay long enough to see what happened with them. I'm happy to have noticed the nest in the first place - what a little miracle!

'Prickles' Birthday Card

Yay - I finally got to play with one of my new stamps ... meet 'Prickles'.  I just could not resist him when I was at the 'Stamps By Judith' booth at the Mesa Rubber Stamp Show.  Almost every stamp I bought can be classified as CUTE.  (Sorry Tim Holtz style lovers).

This card (loosely) qualifies for 'The Great Outdoors" challenge at the Cards For Men Challenge Blog. 'Cause Prickles is sitting outside holding his balloons.  ;-)

This is one of those cards that I think looked better in my head, but I'm happy enough with it. There is certainly a learning curve to colouring line images that I have to re-learn.  I used pencils and mineral spirits to colour Prickles for my first attempt.

 

I punched the balloons out of coordinating patterned paper (Prima), and tied narrow twine around the bottom of each of them. I poked holes around Prickles' paws so the twine could go underneath them. 

A little glitter glue in spots, some Crystal Effects on his nose - and I have another masculine birthday card for my stash.

Easter Sketch Card

There is a new sketch at the Clean And Simple Stamping Blog:

I was just ITCHING to play in my studio, so even though this sketch wasn't really 'speaking to me' I went ahead and made a card. I should have known better - circles are just not my thing.

I made an A2 sized card base from Pear Pizzazz (SU), and cut a white card stock circle with a Nestability die. That was stamped with clouds (Posh) and lightly inked at the edge with blue ink.

The sweet wreath is a Memory Box die, cut out of kraft card stock and I attached it to the circle with a (Tim's) Tiny Attacher.

The bird die is also from Memory Box - and it was cut out of Baja Breeze (SU), inked and then stamped with dots in blue and green ink.  Stamps By Judith makes the dot stamp - it's one I have had for years and years and I still love and use it often.

I used a MFT die to cut the long oval, and the word stamp is from Impress.  It still needed something, so I added gems with my iRock tool.

 

 Here is a peek at the inside - I stamped the same cloud around the edge of the white panel before attaching it inside, and will add the Easter or Spring verse when it comes time to send the card.

 

So while this isn't a card I'm overly happy with ... it's done and I really REALLY enjoyed getting back into my studio.

Anniversary Sketch Card

Even though hubby is wanting to get going, I managed to get a little time in the studio this morning. I got a CAS card finished and even got the photo taken, but the washer taps started to leak and now we are a little delayed in leaving to check on our cabin.

Until I post the new card, here is one I made using an older sketch (FTL141) from the Clean And Simple Stamping Blog. It's another wonderful sketch and I have made several different cards using it!

This is a larger card, 5 x 6.5" - and while the card base is plain white, the additional papers have a lovely pearlized shimmer.  The paper flowers (Prima) were attached with a gold heart brad, and I wrapped the green panel with gold wire  and ribbon for a little more glitz.

I said I would get things packed up while he was off to the hardware store, so I'd better get off the computer here and get going!
