Good morning friends

This is probably one of my favourite Halloween cards - even though it isn't a Pop-Up. I made it very soon after we received Karen Burniston's new Halloween Collection, but saved the card to post closer to Halloween.

Mummy Halloween Card

Good morning friends

I found this inked and embossed background panel in my stash, and decided to USE it and make a Halloween card. It's always such a good feeling to use something that you've been hanging onto ... done and done!

Inside, rather than have it be a simple flat card, I added the spinner from the Rectangle Pull Card to animate this fun Mummy sticker. Takes only a few minutes, but you get a card with some oomph!

Supplies:
White card stock
Orange card stock
Embossing folder - Cuttlebug
Rectangle Pull Card (Spinner,  Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
3-D Stickers - Recollections

C4C360 In a Name

Good morning friends

It's Saturday  so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our October 2016 hostess is Caz Counsell and our Guest Designer is Heidi Green - The Crafty Goat Girl

Caz's challenge is:  In a name.... using your initials make a card using dies/stamps that start with your letters

Since my first initial is 'K' for Karen, I chose Joset's KITE die and my favourite Pop-it Ups - the Spiral Circle Pull Card.

The card was cut from white card stock - remember with Pop-it Ups you get to choose the size of your card - and the patterned paper was cut with the Pull Card Edges. The little clouds were leftover on my craft table from a different project, but the shape worked perfectly with the paper. Love those happy surprises ... and using things up!

The notches that cut with the SCPC keep the card closed until the sides are pulled.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd  love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C360.

Supplies:
Spiral Circle Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
White card stock
Pull Card Edges, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Clock and Gears (Circle), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Olivia's Midnight the Bat Card

Good morning friends

Our Granddaughter loves PINK and PURPLE ... and she will tell you with vehemence if you ask her what her favourite colours are. I chose not to add pink onto her Halloween card, but did make a purple pearlized Midnight the Bat!

The background was lightly stencilled with the new Bats Stage it Stencil by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs, then the piece was cut with one of the new Labels and Circles dies. I added some black Glitter Dots on her eyes and stamped Trick or Treat from the Halloween Clear Stamps.

Inside is another stamp from the set. I was so happy that there were words to use inside the card. Everyone seems to make the titles or greetings, but never think of words for inside a card.

Supplies:
Purple card stock - Soft Finish Perfect Purple - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Purple metallic card stock
White card stock
Double Sided Adhesive - 6" width - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Glitter Dots - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Copics
Labels and Circles, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Wobbly Ghost Halloween Card

Good morning friends

Today's card is a little bittersweet for me. The ghost was cut from a Hallmark garland and sent to me years ago from my far away friend Impi. Impi wasn't feeling well that July and was gone from us in September - but with letters we got to say a proper goodbye to each other.

Impi was an amazing paper crafter. You see all those people using sponges  & torn paper masks or stencils to create scenes? Yeah - that was her idea. She came up with the technique many many years ago and was featured in RubberStampMadness magazine. She called it SMOOSHING, so to honour her I still refer to it as Smooshing and I smile every time I see someone use the technique.

She created the most amazing scenes using Smooshing and rubber stamps and the large envelopes that made their way to my mailbox were pieces of art. As were the margins of all her letters. Then there were the swaps. She would buy things like these garlands, cut them into pieces and tuck them into her pen-pals envelopes. And we would all do the same for her.

I think of her often, and feel her presence in the quiet when I'm making cards. She would have loved Karen Burniston's Pop it Ups!

Anyhow, I let go of the sentimental reasons to be hanging onto this piece and made a Halloween card for one of our Grandkids.

I stamped the orange banner on white card stock, using the new Occasions Clear stamps then cut them out with the coordinating banner die with the Anita Frames Pop-Up. Then I drew on the letters and hung it from the ghosts hands with twine.

The whole ghost was then adhered to the embossed orange background with an Action Wobble.

Inside is some hand lettering and glittered stickers.

This Halloween card is for our Grandson Ethan, who loves blue. Blue Blue Blue. Of course, I had to make Midnight the Bat in blue, just for him!

October 2016 Team Designer Challenge

Good morning friends

This month, Summer has the theme for our Designer Challenge "Boy oh Boy" ... think rough and tumble, boys will be boys, masculine or manly - no girls allowed!

Once again I used the Twist Circle Pop-Up with Karen Burniston's adaptation to create a Pop-Up Panel Card for the challenge. (Link to Karen's video at the bottom of the post).

How fun is this type of Pop-Up! I decorated each of the little panels with various clear stamps by Karen Burniston, and stickers from the same package as the boy themed patterned papers.

I'm going to save this card for our Grandson Zachary's birthday as it's just perfect for him.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Designer Challenge Team came up with for the challenge. Karen Burniston will have her post on her BLOG tomorrow (Tuesday).

If you would like to see Karen Burniston's video where she shows how to adapt the Twisted Circle Pop-Up (inspired by her cousin Jessica) - click HERE or check out her YouTube channel.

Wobbly Pumpkin Card for Zachary

Good morning friends

I may have mentioned this, but our Grandson Zachary is a bit of a wild man. The last card his Mom gave him, lasted only seconds before it was torn up. With glee, but still. So his Halloween card this year is fairly simple. He will flick that pumpkin a couple of times then ... off it will come. Zachary is very good at being two.

The pumpkin sticker was added to one of Karen Burniston's Labels then on an Action Wobble. I pounced three bats from the Stage it Stencil onto the centre patterned paper strip - a fun way to customize your patterned paper.

A little bit of hand lettering inside, and a bat from the Bats Stage it Stencil.

Have at it, Zachary.

Supplies:
Sticker - Stash
Black card stock
Circles and Labels, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Blueprints #23 - My Favorite Things
White card stock
Patterned paper - Recollections

C4C 359 Bee Happy Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday  so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our October 2016 hostess is Caz Counsell and our Guest Designer is Heidi Green - The Crafty Goat Girl

Caz's challenge is:  "Bees and Bugs – include bees or bugs on your card this week"

I immediately wanted to use Joset's cute bee dies ... so pulled out the Triple Circle Flip-Its to make my card.

The black is actually self adhesive velvet and I love the look it gives the bees. You just want to touch them when you hold the card.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd  love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C359.

'Wagon Full of Pumpkins' Card Duo

Good morning friends

Lawn Fawn's September release was amazing, and I could have just hit the BUY ALL button. But I exercised great restraint, getting this portrait Leafy Backdrop die and one other. But you should see my Wish List! Ha. It took awhile for me to get the die ... first it was pre-ordered, then there seemed to be a delay in shipping it to me, then they sent me the landscape die instead of the portrait orientation. As soon as I got it though, I made some Thanksgiving cards for the Grandkids. Since it was so late in coming, these will be put aside for next year.

I think this Leafy Backdrop is going to be SO much fun! The Happy Harvest set is one that had been on my Wish List for awhile, so I finally added it to my collection. I used the wagon full of pumpkins as the main embellishment for these two, and the cute crows come in the same set.

These two will be for the youngest Grands ... there are three others with a Scarecrow that I will share another day.

Supplies:
Leafy Backdrop - Lawn Fawn
Stamps and dies - Lawn Fawn
Blue card stock - Bazzill

Halloween Pop Stand Card

Good morning friends

I confess that this card has been done for months. It was the first card I made with Karen Burniston's Flower Pot Pop-Stand. I liked that the die could make a free standing 'in a box type' card, or be done inside a folded card with the included Pop Stand die.

I wanted this one to stand on it's own but also have a base, so came up with this circular base that folds up flat with the rest of the card for mailing.

Then it opens up to give the Flower Pot Pop-Stand a cute base! To make the base, I adhered a purple circle to the black scalloped circle and scored it down the centre. Note - I cut the purple circle down the centre before adhering it to the black one, which reduces the bulk at the fold line. Line up the Flower Pot Pop-Stand piece on the score line using the included alignment nubs and cut.

Adhere the completed Flower Pot Pop-Stand to the base using a strong adhesive and let dry. I used Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I then cut a smaller teal scalloped circle and cut it in half. This was adhered to the bottom of the black base, lining  up the cut lines on either side of the score line on the black piece. The reason I added the teal, is to hide the holes from the Pop Stand.

Midnight is the newest Pop it Ups Character, and he/she is SO cute. And easy peasy to assemble, I might add.

One of the labels from the new Labels and Circles was left blank on the back so I can write my message on it.

The Flower Pot Pop-Stand is completely generic and can be used for many different occasions. I like that my base option gives us a third way to display it!

60th Birthday Flower Pot Card

Good morning friends

I wanted to make a card for my friends special birthday, so turned to the Flower Pot Pop-Stand. The front has Suzanne Cannon's gorgeous calligraphy Happy Birthday Die and some 3-d stickers.

Here is a look at the card as it is opened:

Fully opened, it becomes this amazing 3-d Pop-Up!

I added more of the floral stickers, and die cut numbers inside the flower pot. Labels from the Circles and Labels are layered on either side of the card, with stamping and room for a signature.

I added the Ring Frame Edges as banners along the top edge, covering the joins with the little banners from the Anita Frames Pop-Up.

I love being able to make special cards like this, especially when the recipient is a fellow paper crafter and just gets it.

Supplies:
Dots & Plaid patterned paper - Lawn Fawn
Flower Pot Pop Stand, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
White card stock

Zentangle Center Step

Good morning friends

Note: This is a cross-post with my Zentangle Blog (alteredzen.blogspot.ca).

I wanted to do a special Zentangle tile for my friends birthday, so used a 60 as the string. When the tile was complete, I decided that I wanted a nice presentation and the Centre Step die by Sizzix has an area large enough for the tile.

I've said it before, but I have asked Karen Burniston for a Square Pull Card ... one that will fit a 3-1/2" Zentangle tile. FINGERS CROSSED!! Meanwhile, I'm happy to be able to use this card base to make an interactive card as they are a little more special, don't you think?

Supplies:
Centre Step card - Sizzix
Zentangle Tile - Zentangle.com
Cream card stock
Black card stock
Patterned paper - K & Company
Clear Bag for the tile - Clearbags.com

Halloween Twist Circle Panel Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

I had some insomnia one night last week - awake at 3am but refusing to get out of bed until 5. Then I headed to the craft room to make another Twist Circle Panel Pop-Up Card. This one is for Halloween.

I tend to keep the fronts of my Pop-Up cards fairly simple, because all the action is inside.

Here is the card opening ...

... then fully open.  I had so much fun making this card. The card base uses the Twist Circle Pop-Up, by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. At the end of the post I have a link to her video on how to adapt the die to make these Panel Pop-Up cards which are all the rage these days.

I added portions of the Iron Fence to each panel, then decorated the rest with embellishments from my stash. Note,  I did not use foam tape so the card would fold flat enough for mailing.

The labels from the Anita Frames Pop-Up provide the area for a message and signature. I put it on the left side, as you don't want any catch points for the corners of the panels. That way the card opens and closes smoothly.

Here is the link to Karen Burniston's September Designer Challenge Video. It's great to have a die do all the work for you, rather than complicated measuring or templates.

Supplies:
Twist Circle Pop-Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Black card stock
Fine point scissors - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Clear Double Sided Adhesive, 1/4 and 1/2" width's
Zutter corner rounder
Iron Fence Pop-Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Grey card stock
Fine point tweezers - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Embellishments - K & Company
Patterned paper - Doodlebug
Anita Frames Pop-Up (labels), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
