Santa Cocoa Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

It's Throwback Thursday here on my blog, and I have an older Christmas card to share today using Cocoa the Horse. Our eldest daughter had called to say she was doing a Secret Santa exchange with another young Pulmonary Hypertension patient who was CRAZY about horses. Did I have anything that I could make into a card for her to put into the parcel?  HA - well in fact, I had Karen Burniston's Cocoa the horse die AND stamps so I got to work.  Here is the front of the card ...

... with a stamped and fussy cut Cocoa.

And you know i had to make it a Pop-Up inside, using the Lucy Label Pop up and a die cut Cocoa sporting a Santa hat. :-)

Word is, she loved her card  :-)

Happy Dance.

Full of Bears Pull Card

Good morning friends

I had ordered some Stampin' Up goodies in the early Spring, and one of my sets is this adorable bear stamp and die set.

I wanted to work ahead and use the bears to make a Grandparent's Day card for my Mother-In-Law. I used the Hanging Charm Pull Tab by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs for the card base, then added the stamped, coloured and die cut bears. One little bear for each of her Great Grandkids!

When you pull the tab, the label stands up with the Great-Grandma and two of her little ones ...

... and the greeting is revealed.

Here is a side view so you can see the stand-up portion a little better. You can also see that I used the little Postage Frame from the Rectangle Pull Card folded in half for the pull tab.

I penned the words on the back side and the card is ready to be mailed in September. I always remember to make the Grandparent's Day cards, but I don't always remember to mail them on time. Going to write it down in my planner this year. Ha!

I had so much fun making this card ... probably due to the fact that I made it the day after my dental surgery with the assistance of some really good pain killers.   Note - Because the decorated label is fairly heavy, I reinforced the pull tab 'arms' with strips of card stock on the underside.

There was a communication error about my new RA medication, and it looks like it won't be delivered until today. The nurse has also been rescheduled to later this afternoon. This is going to be fun - looks like I will be required to have a two day 9am - 5pm window where I have to stay home and wait for the meds. Every month. Hmmmmmm. I'm thinking they should at least be able to narrow it down to ONE day. Time will tell I guess. I just want to get better.

Supplies:
Hanging Charm Pull Tab, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Rectangle Pull Card (postage for pull tab), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Open Banner Birthday Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is another quick Birthday card for my Mom. This time I didn't add any pen work or add any backing patterned paper - and I was very happy with the clean and simple look. Again, I made two identical cards but only photographed one of them.

The key to making a card like this is to use a nice, heavyweight card stock. It wouldn't have the same appeal if the card stock were 'flimsy'. I have heavy card stock from Papertrey Ink that I love. And I hoard it because the cost of shipping to Canada is outrageous. However, my friend "B" shared a sheet of 110# card stock that she picked up (with a coupon) at Michaels. OMGoodness - it's perfect!

Supplies:
Heavy White card stock - Recollections
Banner die - We R Memory Keepers
Happy Birthday - Stampin' Up
MISTI - My Sweet Petunia
Inside words - My Favorite Things
Easel Die - Elizabeth Craft Designs and patterned paper (K & Company)

Card size - both, A2

Masculine Birthday Card

Good morning friends

Today is Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and my card share is one of the cards I put in the card set for my dental hygienist Anne.

The photo card stock is from a stack I found on clearance and I only used a portion of the 12 x 12" sheet for this card. Anne really liked this card, so I think I will use this idea of splitting the patterned paper panel again.

Below, the chevron border is die cut from the beige Astroparche panel so the Kraft card background shows through.

Supplies:
Kraft Card stock
Patterned paper - DCWV
Chevron Die - We R Memory Keepers
Stamps - Papertrey Ink

Card size - A2

Red & Blue Trees Christmas Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is another Christmas card for my stash. I'm really liking the Stampin' Up Peaceful Pines set, and that you can make them specifically to coordinate with the patterned paper you are using.

On a personal note, the insurance company finally approved the new medication. Well, 60% of it - which still leaves a $960 per month tab. Sheesh ... It's not like this is a new to the scene medication, how in the world can it cost that much money? It looks like the drug manufacturer has some financial assistance, which we are now applying for. The drug will be shipped to me in a little cooler sometime tomorrow, and a nurse will come to the house to help me administer that first dose (injection). Then I should be on my way to getting this Rheumatoid Arthritis into remission. Whew.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - My Minds Eye
Tree stamps and dies - Stampin' Up
Stitched Ovals - My Favorite Things
White card stock
Words inside - Papertrey Ink

Card size - 4-1/2 x 6"

C4C 342 - Add a Butterfly

Good morning friends:

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. I am the hostess for June and our Guest Designer is fellow Designer Team Challenge-mate Caz Counsell from Stamping Caz.

My challenge this week is "Add a BUTTERFLY! I love butterflies, so have a butterfly be the main focus
of your card this week. If that doesn’t work of you - just add a butterfly. :-)"

Once again, I was working ahead. I made this card back in the Spring as I knew I wouldn't have a lot of crafting time in May. There hasn't been much in June, either! We've been busy babysitting the Grandkids, Gregg's been doing yard work and helping the kids with theirs (can you say MULCH?),  recovering from my bottom molar abscess and subsequent extraction, and dealing with a lot of pain and lack of mobility while the insurance company and Rheumy figure out what drug I will get on next. Poof - time goes by in a flash.

I used the Butterfly Pivot  and Butterfly Accessory dies for my card, and a pretty photo patterned paper to make our daughter a Mother's Day card for my Mom to give her.

There is just something special about a square card, isn't there?

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C342.

'Be Fierce' Pull Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is an Oval Pull Card I made using a new stamp set from Verve. I stamped the words in light grey, went over the printed letters with a marker and painted the brush lettering with water colours. My first time doing this and I will be doing it again for sure!

The notch at the top cuts with the die and keeps the card in the closed position until the recipient pulls the sides to reveal the inside. This card is larger, and will fit in a 5 x 7" envelope for mailing with a single stamp. I'm loving this larger card size, and the beauty of Pop it Ups dies is that YOU get to choose the size of your card, as well as where along the fold you place the design. Pretty darned versatile.

Here is the card opened. We will write our message on the solid white oval.

The boxing gloves were stamped on patterned paper then fussy cut. I made this as a Love Note for our daughter, who fights daily for our Granddaughter's survival with Pulmonary Hypertension.

Supplies:
Oval Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
White card stock
Stamps - Verve
Staedtler Fineliners
Copics
Dr. PH Martins Hydrus Water Colours
Ribbon
Patterned paper - diana kappa

Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up

Good morning friends

Today's share is a Love Note I made for our eldest daughter and husband. They deal with a lot for Olivia's Pulmonary Hypertension ... it's stress and juggling 24/7. I bought this awesome stamp set from Verve so used it for their card.

I stamped the words in light ink, then did the lettering with a water colour brush and Water colours.

Inside is a Pop-Up made using the Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I used her Partly Cloudy Stage-It Stencil with the same water colours for the cloud background.

I also added some water colour touches to the Hot Air Balloon.

Supplies:
Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Patterned paper - We R MemoryKeepers

Heart Pivot Anniversary Card

Today's share is the Anniversary card I made for hubby ... it was fun to pull out the Heart Pivot again!

The key was cut away from the patterned paper on the front corner, then a second  key was cut from white card stock and adhered inside the card. You can see it through the key shaped opening when the card is closed.

When it is opened, you see the negative space for the key on the left and the white key on the right.

I also added additional layered hearts to the two pivoting hearts.

The back of the closed card ...

... and finally the view from the top, because everyone likes to see how a Pivot Card looks from the top. Whenever I give someone a Pivot Card, they eventually turn it so they can see 'how it works' from a top view.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - diana kappa
Heart Pivot, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Katie Pivot (labels), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
White card stock
Stamps - Verve
Glossy Accents

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Card #2

Good morning friends

Today's share is my second card for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge for June - "Summer Lovin'. I think Ice Cream is perfect for Summer Lovin' and I used an ECD Ice Cream  Cone with the Spiral Circle Pull Card (one of my very favourite card dies) and the Clock & Gears to make my card.

The white banners are from the Lorna Label Pop-Up, with one edge trimmed off. The clock hands are attached with a brad, so they can be moved to any time I want to feature. I also added Els Ribbon borders to each side, using my favourite technique of outlining just one edge with a fine point marker.

I cut the clock face twice, once from the pink patterned paper and once from black card stock with double sided adhesive attached to the back. Then I used just the numbers from the black piece, inlaying them into the pink one - love the POP the black gives this card.

Here is a closer look at Joset's Ice Cream Cone - it's so fun! I'm glad it hopped into my ECD shopping cart this Spring. :-)

I hope you will check out what the rest of the Designer Challenge Team comes up with for the challenge, and Karen Burniston will have her post tomorrow (Wednesday) on her Blog.

Karen Burniston's June 2016 Designer Challenge, Card #1

Good morning friends

Today's share is my first card for Karen Burniston's June Designer Challenge - Summer Lovin'.

My card front has layered circles, a Pull Card Edge panel, a stencilled Kraft panel, banners and a postage edge border. You get to decide on the size with the Pop-it Ups and this card is a full 7 x 5".  After adding a couple of 'banners' using the Ring Frame Edges, I did some pen work and hand lettering.

Along the bottom edge, I used the Rain Stage it Stencil to create the stripes. To get the soft and mottled look from the Swirly Flourished stencil, I pounced the ink pad onto the stencil and rubbed it through the stencil with a baby wipe.

Inside I used a photo printed card stock photo with embossed bits and the Adirondack Chair Pop-Up.

When I was placing my ECD order this Spring, Joset's banner dies were the first thing in my shopping cart. Here I used them with the Alpha Caps 1 to spell RELAX. It seemed perfect for an Adirondack chair on a dock on a white sandy beach.

I love this Adirondack Chair Pop-Up - look at the embossing on the arms of the chair!

The clouds were each cut twice - once from a scrap of the same blue photo printed card stock and once from white Soft Finish Card stock. Then they were off-set with foam tape.

Finally, here is a side view of the card so you can see the Pop-Up from a different angle.

Floral Cup Pop Stand Card for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop

Good morning friends

Today I have another card to share for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop. I think the little 'to go' coffee cup & liner from Karen Burniston's Hanging Charm Pull Tab is so cute I wanted to use it on the front of a card but still leave it as a charm.

It's combined with labels from the Katie Label Pivot and that FUN Coffee Bean embossing folder. I also used clear stamps from Karen B's Coffee & Tea set - I like how they can be combined in so many different ways!

Here is the card fully open - I used the Cup Pop Stand to 'pop up' the coffee cup.

The Coffee Bean embossing folder was used at the top and bottom of the card base for some fun texture.  I'm happy with how the card turned out - it was fun to use such bright summery colours.

I used a silver marker to colour the bowl of the spoon and add some details. The sugar cube was cut from a scrap of glittered paper, made with white card stock backed with ECD clear double sided adhesive then warm diamond silk microfine glitter was rubbed into the adhesive. I cut the square using the gift from the Evergreen pivot. Love how all the Pop it Ups play so nicely together. :-)

I hope you will have a look at the rest of the amazing cards on the Coffee Lovers Cardmaking Blog Hop!
