Butterfly Sympathy Card

(Remember you that you can always see my Sizzix Flip-it and Pop N Cut cards by looking on the right side of my blog under LABELS then scrolling down to the 'S' section.)

Earlier this month I mentioned that I was working really hard to love this butterfly insert for my Pop 'N Cut dies. I made three cards that week using it, and here is the 2nd card.  (You can see the first one by clicking HERE).

I thought I'd try some softly coloured patterned paper and make a sympathy card. I do like the way it turned out!

I know now that I like the finished cards much better if that back spine is covered.

 

I sure get a lot of use out of the labels that are on the same die as the butterfly layers. Gotta love that.

 

While the butterflies are a little plain on their own, when you add a butterfly body/antenna I like them much better. These ones were trimmed from a Sizzlet butterfly die.

I am completely in love with my Pop 'N Cut dies and most of the inserts that I have. At least I want to play with this one a little more so that is encouraging. And I do like this card!

Purple Flower Sympathy Card

This is one of those cards that looks better in real life. Even though it's Clean And Simple (CAS) - the different textures are quite effective. I actually made a couple more of these after this one, since it turned out so nice.

The A2 base card is a lovely soft purple colour, with a pebbly metallic finish on the outside and cream on the inside. I added a strip of pearl embossed card stock, and the flower is a Stampin' Up stamp/punch set (Mixed Bunch).

My Mom has asked that I don't use verses that have small text, as they are often hard for a lot of elderly people to read.

I think my Sympathy Card Stash has been replenished now ... time to move on.

CAS Sympathy Card

Still keeping things simple, I have another sympathy card to share today.

The card is an A2 size, cut with a Sizzix die that gives this lovely bracket edge. With all the new Sizzix dies, I'm falling in love with A2 cards again.  :-)

The inside is lined with the same printed paper that the bird is punched from (Stampin' Up punch).

Sympathy Card Trio

My Mom's sympathy card pile was getting low, so she asked for a couple more to top it up. I made these three cards for her.

This week I've been keeping things simple, so I let pretty patterned paper take the stage on these cards. 

The card below uses a new Sizzix Edger die I've had for awhile. I don't use it often enough ... and when cut out of textured card stock like this the card didn't need anything else on the front.  This one was her favourite out of the bunch.

All three cards are a different size than I've made before... 6x4"   I mistakenly picked up a package of envelopes thinking they would work for that mid-size card I've been doing, but they are for a 4x6" card and not a 4.5 x 6" card.  So - I am going to have to make some 6x4" cards and use up those envelopes.

Blue Rose Sympathy Card

One of the things in my 'Odds & Sods' pile was this lovely blue metallic patterned paper panel. I decided to make a sympathy card to replenish my dwindling pile of those.

The blue rose piece is actually printed on acetate, so I backed it with white card stock and fussy cut it out before popping it up on the card front.

The card is larger, 6.5 x 5" and inside are stamped words and two more acetate embellishments.

Little Bird Sympathy Card

Yesterday I mentioned how much I like the latest sketch at the Freshly Made Sketch blog, and today I have another card to share using it.

I used a white Bazzil textured card stock for the white card base, using the Sizzix Pop N Cuts base to create the A2 sized base. This gives me the look of a top fold card, without having to deal with a top fold card!  The rounded corners are just a bonus.  :-)

It's been awhile since I've used this sweet Stampin' Up bird punch - and I knew I wanted to use it on this card.  Unfortunately my Mom has had to use a number of sympathy cards these past few weeks, so I need to replenish that stash.

Dog Sympathy Card

Unfortunately I needed to make a sympathy card for our Veternarian, who's beautiful old dog passed on. 

I used a lovely cream pearlized card stock and my Score Pal to create an A2 sized gatefold card, then embossed the side panels with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.  The Sizzix Scottie Dog was cut out of the same pearlized card stock.

I added some cream velvet ribbon and a pink gem brad (both, Stampin' Up).

The inside was stamped and I added a pearlized bone die (it cuts with the Sizzix Scottie Dog).

Sympathy cards are just not easy to send. Everyone at the vet clinic will be so sad, as this dog went to work every day with our Vet. She met many patients and families throughout her 17 years.

I just wanted them to know I was thinking of them, and I hope this card shows that.

Dynamic Duo's #43

Today's colour challenge at the Dynamic Duo blog feature two of my very favourite colours to work with. I LOVE this combination, and could make card after card after card using it.

While those colours just make me happy, I went with a Sympathy card. How is that for ironic?

That fabulous background stamp is one I picked up last year at the Mesa Rubber Stamp Show - it's by BJ's Rubber Stamps. I inked it up then LIGHTLY spritzed it with water to combine the blue and green inks.

Since I was SO pleased with the card, I made a happier one using the same images but swapping out the sentiment.

 If I had time today, I'd be in my studio all day working with these colours. But ... this is it for me, as Real Life is about to cut into my stamping time. :-)

Layered Flower Sympathy Card

Today's share is one of the cards I made using the layered flower die from Papertrey Ink:

The label was scored with two lines at the top and bottom - I don't do this nearly enough but it adds a lot to the card in a subtle way. Just a nice detail, I think.

I embossed a white panel to layer onto the card, and stamped a leaf image (Verve) onto the envelope as well as behind the words inside.

The card is an A2 size, and will likely be one that will need to be hand delivered because of the bulk of the button and twine. I may cut a piece of thin packing foam for the envelope though, as I have received bulky cards in the mail this way.

Watercolour Background Paper

It feels strange to be posting something other than Christmas, but I do have a couple of CAS (Clean and Simple) Sympathy cards to share. I found a pretty 12x12" sheet of water colour paper in my stash, so cut it down into panels and used those as the feature of the cards.

So soft and pretty!  I also added some soft twill ribbon and a stamped & punched label.
