Halloween Accordian Flip Card

Good morning friends!

Now I'm glad that I had yesterday's post scheduled, as I had NO INTERNET from Monday evening until late Wednesday afternoon. No Internet. Seriously - I was having withdrawal. Even the house phone is tied to the internet. No emails and no Pinterest. AACK - it's a wonder I could even sleep at night. I guess I'm one of those people they talk about on the news when they mention Internet addicts.

I have an Accordion Flip card to share today, using Karen Burniston's dies. I actually made this for Sue's 'October First' mailing, but didn't want to post it until today.  (For those of you who don't know, Sue lives in a city a few hours away from me and we pop something into the mail to each other the first of each month).

The photo below shows the front of the card ... oh, I had SO much fun making this.

 

I am really enjoying these Accordian Flip cards, and hope to make a couple more of them in the next week or so.

It's Brandi's Birthday!

Brandi is 15 years old today!  She is sporting a new hair-cut and her Blue Merle colouring shows up so nicely when she is clipped.

The groomer said she really noticed how weak Brandi is getting in her hind-end - something we see as well. But she is happy and her arthritis/old-girl pain is managed with medication. She goes for a little walk with me every day - we leave her rambunctious 'brothers' at home - and she wags her tail the whole time.  For those that don't know, she is not winking in the photo - she lost her eye a few years ago due to complications from a tumor removal. Doesn't phase her in the least.

I have a 5-1/2" square Halloween card to share today ... the embossed circle panel was in the 'Odds & Sods' Halloween pile, so I dug it out and layered it with patterned paper (Recollections).

Since I did it a couple of years ago, I'm thinking I inked the embossing folder with black in before running it through the Big Shot with orange card stock. The popped up circles were punched out with a circle punch.

Smiling Pumpkin

Good morning friends!

Today's share is the card I made for my parents to give our Grandson Ethan, who is one.  I actually made it in November putting it away for this Halloween ... but I cannot see that I posted it.  You know if I'd been making it this year, it would have been a Pop 'n Cut card!

The card is 4-1/4" square, and I used the same Recollections paper stack I've used for all my Halloween cards. Also a cute 3-d pumpkin sticker from K&Co. I get such a kick out of that pumpkin's expression and his glittery grin.

Halloween Gift Bag

Good morning friends!

For my family this year, I opted to tuck their Halloween treats and card in a gift bag. I love these paper gift bags - they are about 8-1/2" tall and 5-1/2" wide, and are easily decorated with patterned paper.

I trimmed some tags from scraps, and added a die cut fancy label that was stamped and decorated with a die cut bat.

Easy Peasy, and I think they turned out pretty cute!  I made 4 of them - each a little different - but only photographed this one to share.

Ethan's Pumpkin Card

Good morning friends!

When Olivia's bat card (see Saturday's post) turned out SO cute, I went ahead and cut all the pieces for this pumpkin from the same cartridge. 

The green flourish was in my 'Odds & Sods' pile, but I though it would be cute on the pumpkin so I added it to the stem.  I also stamped around the outer edge with my trusty dots stamp (Stamps by Judith) and sponged on the inside of the pumpkin.  Both the outer frame and the stem portion were embossed with the same embossing folder as I used on the bat card.

This one is about 6" wide, so I had to make an envelope to fit it as well. I used the Recollections paper pad and my ScorePal to make the envelope. The label was fussy cut from one of the sheets in the stack.

Olivia's Bat Card

Good morning friends!

Today's share is the card I made for our Granddaughter Olivia for Halloween. She is two and she loves PURPLE.  :-)

I used the paper stack by Recollections and my ScorePal to create the matching envelope - the card is over 9" wide, so I needed to make one to fit. 

The card was Cricut cut using the Hello Kitty cartridge - there are SO many cute cuts on that cartridge I am looking forward to playing with it more.  Before attaching all the purple pieces, I embossed them with an embossing folder.  The black border was outlined with a Sakura pen for some shimmer and shine, and I doodled on the inside before adding the message.

Pumpkins and Frogs

Last year I could not find my cute K&Co stickers when I went to make my Halloween cards. It drove me crazy, but I did find them for this year. And I immediately made a Pop 'n Cut card for our Grandaughter Olivia.

She is two, and she is going to love this happy frog. I attached it to a fussy cut label from one of the stack.

I added a couple more of those fun stickers on the Pop 'n Cut layer, and some sparkly paper strips.

My parents asked me to make them a card for Olivia and one for Ethan, so this is the one they will give Olivia.

Cute Ghost Pop 'n Cut Card

I have another Halloween Pop 'n Cut card to share today ... using the same paper stack as yesterday's card. I hesitated buying it last year, but I am sure getting good use out of it!  The large ornate frame was fussy cut from one of the papers in the stack.

I have a little bag of 'odds and sods' in my Halloween card box ... this laminated ghost has been in it for a couple of years. I stamped and laminated quite a few of them one Halloween and of course didn't use them all.  It turned out to be a perfect match for a Pop 'n Cut card!

I cut the inside twice, once out of the purple bat print paper and one from the orange. Then I simply trimmed the orange piece to fit on and around the label. Easy Peasy.

Karen Burniston's Fancy Frame die is easily one of my favourites. I love how you can change up the look just by changing what you cut it out of.

Some of the patterned papers in the stack have embedded glitter and embossing - and that always adds to much to the finished card.

Spooky Pop 'n Cut Card

Karen Burniston challenged us to use a clear material when making a Pop 'n Cut card. I have wanted to try this for a long time - ever since I saw a fabulous butterfly Accordian Flip card by Helen Cryer. (You can see that one HERE).  With Halloween right around the corner I decided to go with a Halloween theme ...

The ornate frame was fussy cut from one of the papers in the Halloween stack. I love the glittered accents on these papers - the chandeliers are also sparkly.

I had SO much fun making this card, and I don't know why I waited so long to use the clear plastic on my cards. It's a little bulky inside because of the depth of the stickers, but it stays open for display without any effort at all! 

I stamped a graveyard scene on a hand cut hill, to have a place for the house sticker to 'sit' on, although it's hard to see in the photographs. I also cut a narrow pop-up platform at the top of the wavy label portion so the house would stick out from the top of the card.  Since the house was a full sticker, I added a 1" Pop Dot to the bottom center of the house sticker, leaving the top cover on the adhesive but the sticker adhesive exposed on the rest of the house.

 Brushing BABY POWDER over the adhesive gave me an embellishment rather than a sticker, and the Pop Dot adhesive was strong enough to attach the whole house to my little hand cut platform! (I know I use this trick often and mention it every time, but there are so many new people popping by my blog that may not have heard of it before).

The ghost stickers were attached to narrow strips of transparency so they would float in front of the house. If I had attached them to the Pop 'N Cut insert, they would have blocked the graveyard scene in behind.

Look at the owl on the tree - he's sporting a real feather! They sure put a lot of detail into stickers these days.  :-)

While the point of using the acetate was to have your images 'defy gravity', I'm loving the reflection it gives when you hold the card. It changes with the light and I know this won't be the last time I play with it.

I used another paper from the stack and my Score Pal to create an envelope for the card, and added one of Karen B's die cut labels on the front.

Happy 'Owl 'oween

I had SO much fun making this card!

The snail and owl images are from The Stamps Of Life ...  owls2love and snails2mail. Adorable! I just had to pair them together, and the witch hat happened to fit the owl perfectly! I pulled out a little bag of goodies from my Halloween card box, and this hat was in it.  It had been stamped (Printworks) and embossed with black sparkly powder then fussy cut out. Both the snail and owl were paper pieced.

The words and small owl are also from the owls2love set. Patterned paper for this A2 card are by Recollections, and the card stock is Basic Black from Stampin' Up.

This is one of those cards that just makes me smile. I know I should wait until October to post a Halloween card, but I just had to share this one now.  :-)
