Baby Boy Pull Tab Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is a card I made for Els to take to the Collins Retailers show, using the COMING SOON Baby Charms for the Hanging Charm Pull Tab. Of course, I'm sure you've seen all the wonderful ways the Designer Challenge team has been using the charms - there are three new sets being released... Baby, Wedding and Steam Punk.

This is  definitely one of those cards that is better in person. The largest panel is shiny embossed, and the houndstooth pattern is actually flocked. You just want to reach out and touch it, it's so sweet.

I added a little decoration to the pull tab with the COMING SOON Petite Flourish stencil.

There are going to be coordinating stamps as well - for each of the new charm sets!! While I wait for them I decided to add some hand lettering to be revealed when the tab is pulled.

My dentist appointment yesterday actually went differently than my dentist had hoped. I am now referred to an oral surgeon who will extract this abscessed lower molar. I'll be slow to heal because of the RA drugs - never mind the extra risk of infection with a suppressed immune system. So once the tooth is removed, we will just be letting my jaw heal until December when we can decide how to proceed. The good news, is that I'm not too sore today and functioning well!

This is actually the first time since I was diagnosed with RA that my immune system has been an issue so it's a little surprising to me at how everyone is reacting. Guess I should be taking it a little more seriously myself.

Baking Buster Pull Tab Card

Good morning friends

I owe someone a very belated Birthday Card, so decided to use Buster the Dog and the Hanging Charm Pull Card together.

Love that Bakers hat from the Props 8 set (all by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs) and you can find all kinds of reasons to add a slice of cake to a card.

I stamped the words from Just A Note Clear Stamp Set and added colour with pencils. Since the blue polka dot paper isn't very sturdy, I added narrow support strips to the back arms of the pull tab mechanism.

I usually make my Pull Tab cards flat, postcard style - and I like to decorate the back a little. I will write my message below the scalloped circle.

It's Saturday, and that means there is a new challenge on the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our March Hostess is Rebecca Ednie and the talented Teresa Kline from Paperie Blooms joining us as our Guest designer. I've been a long time fan of Teresa's so I'm excited she can join us! Here is Rebecca's challenge:

April Showers bring May flowers! Please use some springtime flowers on your card or project this week! I can't wait to see all of your daffodils, hyacinths, tulips, crocuses, cherry blossoms and all the others I've not listed!

I chose a pretty Spring time floral patterned card stock from a new paper stack and of course I used the Hanging Charm Pull Tab for my card.

The top of the tab was extended then punched and tied with seam binding. The butterfly is hanging from a 2 ply of Baker's Twine which is sandwiched between another frame. The gold bling is simply decorative. The butterfly body was cut from a scrap of black velvet adhesive paper, then the wings were glittered after a little pen work.

Joset's banners were one of my early Spring purchases, and I've used one of them here with some more bling. The words were hand lettered.

When you slide up the tab, the greeting is revealed ...

The card is a full 7 x 5", so there was lots of room for embellishing. I did a little doodling on the card back, and this is where we will write our message.

Karen Burniston's April Designer Challenge Card #2

Good morning friends

Today's share is my second card for the April Designer Challenge "Great Outdoors".  I had a 12 x 12" sheet of patterned paper that I really wanted to use for the challenge, so this is the card I came up with.

The palm tree was made using two layers of Kraft card stock for stability, then heat embossed with two different colours. The embossing powder has some sparkle to it which is fun.

On the Pull Tab Frame, I added two fussy cut faux postage from the patterned paper sheet and layered them. You can see all the raised & shiny bits on the patterned paper in the photo. The frame was stamped with my favourite dot stamp to give it a little somethin' somethin' and the bottom faux post was added with foam tape.

When you pull the tab, the frame stands up and reveals the lighthouse faux post and a greeting stamped below

After colouring, I added Glossy Accents to the word 'hello'.

The medallion stencil was used on the back panel, which was left blank as an area to write a message.

C4C332 Sketch Pull Tab Card

It's Saturday, and that means there is a new challenge on the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our April  Hostess is Rebecca Ednie and the talented Teresa Kline from Paperie Blooms joining us as our Guest designer. I've been a long time fan of Teresa's so I'm excited she can join us!

Rebecca has this fun sketch for us this week:

I had fun with this sketch! I decided to make a 4 x 9" card, taking advantage of the bird design on the patterned paper. Because it's a flat, post card style card, it will fit in a regular #10 business envelope.

To make it interactive, I added the Hanging Charm Pull Tab to the top portion for the oval in the sketch. That little to-go coffee cup charm is so cute! I used a fine point marker through the stencil lines in the holder for more definition and fade out stamped the coffee beans.

When you pull the tab at the top, the frame slides up and the coffee cup dangles in the opening. This also reveals the greeting, a stamped "flying by to say" with more stamped coffee beans.

Here is a look at the back, with a doodled border and die cut coffee beans as well as a stamped greeting.

Hot Air Balloon Pull Tab Card

Looks like I have another Grandkids card to share today!

I was working ahead after the holidays & having SO much fun with Karen Burniston's Hanging Charm Pull Tab. I am also a huge fan of the Hot Air Balloon with Pop-Up so combined the two here and made a birthday card for our Grandson Zachary.

I used one of the Ring Frame Edges to create the little banner on the pull tab which was extended by keeping the cutting pad just short of the tab dies top edge, then scissor cutting the remaining sides to the height I wanted. I punched the top and added ribbon & Bakers Twine.

I added stars from the Happy Birthday Pop-Up set which cuts 6 at a time! So no fussing with putting a tiny die through six times - that Karen Burniston thinks of everything.

Karen Burniston's March 2016 Designer Challenge

Good morning friends

Today's share is my first card for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge for March 2016 ... "Pull It". This was barely a challenge for me, as I love LOVE all three of the PULL CARDS and you know how much I like the Hanging Charm PULL Tab.

Below is my card in the closed position, ready to be put in the envelope. I love that you can change up the size and orientation of the HCPT so this one is a generous 5 x 7".

The card front is decorated with 3-d sticker embellishments and a pretty ECD flower die. I added a decorated egg sticker into the sweet basket from the Props 7 set, and used labels from the Katie Label Pivot set on either side of the HCPT.

If you stop the cutting pad short of the end of the pull tab, you can make it as long as you wish. This one is about 3/4" taller and I hand cut the corners to resemble a tag. The butterfly is from the Butterfly Accessory set and was brushed with Distress Stickles.

When you slide the pull tab, the lamb stands up and reveals the greeting underneath.

I recently purchased a couple of Els' Fitted Frame sets, so used two here for the back as well as the Flower Stage it Stencil and flourishes from the Oval Landscape Accordion. While it's not shown, I hand lettered a greeting on the cream oval before mailing the card.

St Paddy's Day Beaver Pull Tab Card

I've had this card made for several weeks, but just getting a chance to share it today. I have an Irish friend, and every year I send her a St. Patrick's Day card. This year I chose to dress up one of the newest Pop it Ups Character 'Baker the Beaver' for St. Patrick's Day.

The heart charm that comes with the HCPT was used on the elongated tag, and I added a little bow from the Props 1 set and Baker's Twine.

Baker moustache & hat are from the Props 1 die set, and I used my new favourite interactive die - the Hanging Charm Pull Tab (HCPT). The shamrock was made using the little heart from Poppy the Own on a hand trimmed stem.  I cut a second shadow layer for Baker, and adhered it behind Baker after he was attached to the frame.

Black and Cream Butterfly Pull Tab Card

Good morning friends

This is one of those cards that looks WAY better in real life. You can barely make out the butterfly in this first photo, where the card is ready to be put in the envelope.

When you pull the extended tab, the frame lifts up to reveal the stamped sentiment. I added a reinforcement from the Tags Pivot and used butterflies from the Butterfly Pivot and Butterfly Accessories. The card base is the Hanging Charm Pull Tab - my new favourite card die - all by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I like to make the HCPT cards flat, post-card style and do a little decorating on the back as well.
