Cute Little Reindeer

I have quite a few Christmas cards that I made last year that didn't get posted, and I'm slowly wading through those photos.  This cute reindeer card is one of them ...

The reindeer was Cricut cut using 'Create A Critter' cartridge, and the snowflake background is all sparkly.

He is pretty cute, and one of these days I'll try cut a couple more and use a different background. Any of the Create a Critter cuts would be adorable on a Flip-It or Pop 'N Cut card!

Vintage Santa Card

I have not been in my studio very much lately, so have nothing new made to share! This year I have decided not to play along at my regular challenges just to participate. I have a huge stockpile of cards, so unless a challenge really inspires me - I'm taking a break. (Now watch, the next dozen challenges will inspire me and I'll make 100 new cards).

I have been busy with my loom knitting though, and have some new projects posted on my knitting blog Knitting With Looms. You can always find that link here on this blog, over at the top right hand side under:  MY BLOGS. 

Here is a Christmas card that didn't get posted last year, but did go out to friends.

It's a 5.25" square card, and the vintage Santa image is from a sheet of K&Co 12x12" scrapbook paper. I stamped the 'Ho Ho Ho' in brown ink before matting and popping the panel up with foam tape.

Tomorrow is there will be a new Merry Monday sketch or challenge, so I might have another post for you early next week!

Poinsettia Christmas Cards

It's Saturday, which means I have a Christmas card to share today.  Three of them actually!

The patterned cards and word stickers are from a Christmas Card kit that I found a couple of years ago on clearance.  Everything coordinated which sure made it easy to put together some mail friendly cards.  I matted the word stickers on whtie card stock, and added a strip of red textured card stock across the center of the patterned A2 card front.

The Christmas flowers were made with some bridal flowers, glued together with some glitter glue in the center. They added a bit of shimmer to the cards.

These cards were mailed out in 2012, so they are not part of my (small) 2013 Christmas Card Stash.

Reindeer Christmas Card

Last year, towards the end of the season, I bought this adorable reindeer stamp and die set by Hero Arts. I didn't have much opportunity to use it, so I hope to use it more for next years cards. So cute, and I love that they come with a coordinating die.

The doily die is by MFT and I'm always pleased with how well it cuts. I coloured the stamped deer with Copic markers, and added a bakers twine bow and a red adhesive gem on his nose. the stripes and dots in the patterned paper are embossed and sparkly, which of course doesn't show up in the photos.

Layered CAS Christmas Card

I have a Clean and Simple card to share today ... featuring a 3-d Christmas sticker from K&Co.

 The (K&Co) patterned paper has an embossed pearlized finish to it, and I layered it onto some green Bazzill card stock.

The A2 card base is an off-white confetti card stock which works so well with the sticker and paper.

2012 Christmas Cards for the Grandkids

I wanted to make a Christmas card each for Olivia and Ethan:

This card for Ethan is a 4.25" square. I used a cute little wooden reindeer embellishment from my stash, and that striped sparkly paper? It is the center of the frames I used on THESE cards.  It's hard to tell in the photo, but the 4" square white panel is embossed with a textured embossing folder and I tied a sheer red ribbon around it.

I found the CUTEST set of stamps (Stampendous) while visiting Arizona last month so used one of them on the envelope. I stamped the rectangle frame (Stamps By Judith) then the reindeer peeking over the top. He was coloured in with Copic markers and I wrote Ethan's name in the rectangle.

I used another wooden decoration for Olivia's card - hers is an A2 size. Both the white panel and the red areas of the label are embossed with a texture folder. The fancy label is a Stampin' Up die.

I used the same stamp set for her envelope, this time stamping a peeking elf over the rectangle stamp. It's a little boy elf, so I had to add some pigtails to make it a little girl.  :-)  Artistic liberty.

Snowflake Greetings

This A2 card was made entirely from scraps and bits from my stamping area.

It's one of those cards that looks better in real life, with all the sparkle and dimension. The white dots on the red patterned panel are embossed and sparkly!  The blue circle base is also cut from sparkly paper.

Some punched snowflakes, bling and a stamped greeting and I was done! (Can't remember who makes the stamp but it's so cute I have to go find it in the drawer and use it again).

Sue's Christmas Card for 2012

This is the card I made for my friend Sue this year for Christmas ... too bad you can't see the shimmer and shine in these low resolution web photos!

 The Stampin' Up Top Note Die was embossed with a holly embossing folder, then rubbed with dye inks and spritzed with metallic spray.

The ribbon and scalloped netting are both by Stampin' Up, and the plaid paper is embossed and sparkly. I used a larger card, this one is 5 x 6.5" with the Christmas verse was stamped inside.

Penguin Christmas Card

Last year for our craft sale, I had Cricut cut these little penguins to use as decorations for decorated packages of gum. This little guy was leftover and when I found him in my Christmas embellishment pile I wanted to add him to a Christmas card. (I don't remember what cartridge the penguin is from though).

I used a label die to cut away the center of a white panel, backed it with an embossed panel then matted it with a red panel that has a scalloped bottom edge.  The "Holiday Cheer' stamp is by Hero Arts, and the punch is by Stampin' Up. 

The polka dotted background is a digitally printed scrap that was also in my pile.  :-)

Such a cheerful little guy - I'm glad I was able to use this last one on a card that will hopefully make someone else smile too.

Large Poinsetta Card

I like to make my parents a special Christmas card each year, so this year I decided to pull out my Poinsettia die (Sizzix).  I have had this die for a couple of years, and used it exactly once.  I thought it was going to cut the poinsettia, but it turns out it cuts just ONE large petal, one small petal and the small center flower.  Running it through the Big Shot multiple times for a single bloom was not my idea of fun at a time of year when so many other things require my attention and time.

Now that I've made one and now that I know that I can cut multiple layers at a time, I may be tempted to make some more of these beauties. Wouldn't they make gorgeous package toppers?

This is a full 6" square card, and I used some pearlized, embossed patterned paper for the background.

Some of the petals were embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder for texture, and I used a stamen punch from my stash for the center. And glitter glue.  :-)

Large Snowflake Card

Today's card share is actually an A2 card -- I haven't done to many of those in the past little while.

A die cut snowflake (Sizzix), layered patterned paper, a 3-d sticker (K&Co), a stamped greeting (Hero Arts?) -- and the card was finished.

The decorated panel was popped up from the white card base with foam tape. While there is glitter on the sticker, there is no bling so the card is mail friendly.

Little Snowman Card

I have a Christmas card to share today, using the little snowman from PTI's "In The Meadow" stamp & die set. Totally cute.

The trees (Posh) were stamped on a white panel with a green rainbow ink, then the snowy mounds were lightly sponged with blue ink. Stampin' Up's Season's Greetings was stamped with Real Red (SU) and I also stamped some of the tiny snowflakes from the set.

Then the snowman was stamped, die cut and popped up with foam tape. I even managed a little Bakers Twine for his scarf. His face was penned on, using markers.

The stamped panel was popped up with foam tape onto a 5 x 6.5" white card base and a greeting stamped inside in red ink.


No sparkle on this one - and it is completely mailable. Such a cheerful little snowman, don't you think?

Snowflake and Button Cards

I have a couple of quick and easy cards to share today.

The word panel was cut from patterned paper, the same K&Co stack that the printed strips came from.

I punched the snowflake (Martha Stewart) from white card stock, and cut the buttons (Papertrey Ink) from a green card stock in the paper stack. The die cut buttons were tied with button twine (PTI) and attached to the snowflakes.

These cards are completely mail friendly!

Merry Monday #43

This weeks Merry Monday challenge at Always Playing With Paper is their last one of the year so I really wanted to play along. I've been so busy making Christmas tags and Wine Bottle Hangers I haven't participated in many challenges lately. Below is the sketch followed by my take on it.

I went with turquoise, red and snowflakes - all of which make me happy.

The three stacked snowflakes were cut using dies by MFT (My Favorite Things) - they cut SO nicely! Then I dabbed the centers with blue glitter glue for some seasonal sparkle. I stamped the Merry Christmas (Stampin' Up) on a scrap of white card stock, then cut it out with a MFT banner die. Since the die only notches one end, I re-inserted the strip back in the die and ran it through the Big Shot again to get a matching notch on the other end.

 

I have to get my cards addressed and in the mail soon - usually they are ready to go by December 1st!

Christmas Card from the Dogs

We always give our vet and groomer a little Christmas gift and card. This year I decided to go with photo cards:

Earlier this fall, I bought an Epson Picture Mate Charm, which prints beautiful 4x6 photos. I love that little printer, and once this card was designed I simply printed out 2 copies on glossy 4x6 photo paper.

The digital scrapbooking kit I used is from Scrappers Guide. Both pictures were matted with red card stock, then attached to a folded white card base and I stamped a Christmas verse inside.

Now I need to shop for the gifts to go along with the cards.  :-)

Framed Snowman Cards

I have had this Sizzix frame die for a couple of years, but haven't actually used it all that much. Mostly because I used to make mostly A2 cards and the frame just barely fit on it. The cards just didn't look balanced.

One of my 2012 New Years Resolutions was to make cards in different sizes, so the frame works much better on the larger sizes! I was flipping through one of my paper stacks recently, saw this glittery striped paper and knew immediately how cute the frame would look using it.

These cards are 5 x 6.5" and I added these sweet 3-D stickers inside the frames.

I found the stickers when visiting the United States last month, and just couldn't resist them.

Shae's Christmas Card 2012

My cousin asked me to make her a two special cards for her granddaughters. I've already shared the one I made for Ayda, and this is the one I made for Shae. Because the cards will be hand delivered, they are a full 6" square!

This sweet reindeer image was on a sheet of patterned paper by K&Co. I cut it into a 5.5" square, stitched a tiny jingle bell to the bow (over the printed one), &  added glossy accents to his nose. When it was dry, I matted the reindeer panel with a gold print paper from the same stack then popped it up on the folded card base.

The paper has glitery accents, and 'snow' on the reindeer's antlers. The words were penned inside to personalize the card for Miss Shae.

Glossy Birch Cards

Here is another card using the same beautiful glossy patterned paper as yesterday's card. I cut both the 12x12" papers in the stack into 6" squares, so I had 8 pieces of glossy patterned paper to work with (four 6" squares from each paper). The sleigh portion from yesterday's card was the bottom left corner of the 12x12 sheet, and today's two cards use the top left.

These cards, however, needed something else besides the glossy birch. I used a Papertrey Ink die and cut the 'Peace' out of kraft card stock and spritzed it with glimmer mist before attaching to the card front.

 The photo below gives you a better idea of the glossy tree.

For the 2nd card, I cut the 'Peace' out of cream felt and I really REALLY liked that look. The soft felt with the stiff glossiness of the birch - perfect!

These two cards use kraft card stock for the 5-1/4" card bases and I know just who I'm going to send these to over the holidays.
