Flowers & Hearts Anniversary Card

I have an Anniversary card to share today ...

This one has a window cut out of the front, using one of the heart decorator dies that come with the Heart Pivot (also a Pop it Ups die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs). I covered the opening with a scrap of transparancy (from the back) and a piece of patterned paper with a Peel-Off open heart on it. This blends in with the card, but the transparency catches the light as the card is turned.

For the inside, I used the Lucy Label Pop Up die, and I added some more hearts and a punched banner decorated with small Peel-Offs.

The smallest heart is brushed with my Wink of Stella pen ...

Heart Pivot Anniversary Card

Today's share is an Anniversary card I made for our daughter and SIL for their Anniversary last month:

Of course I used the Pop it Ups Heart Pivot die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I use this die for all different occasions, but it's perfect for an Anniversary as well.  I used the nested Decorator dies that come with the Heart Pivot to cut the layers, sandwiching a piece of transparancy in between the hearts so the word sticker 'together' would show when the card was closed.

I popped up another one of the die cut hearts with foam tape, and added glitter with my Wink of Stella pen.

Here is a look at the inside - I love how the decorated heart on the front of the card pivots to the inside as the card is opened. I added some patterned paper strips, a word sticker, another small die cut heart and stamped words

To create the popped up heart below the pivoting hearts, I scored the die cut heart down the center and added foam tape just to the two outer edges. Then I attached one side to the card but kept the center of the heart away from the score line by almost 1/4". Then I peeled off the remaining foam tape backing and closed the card. This allows the heart to attach to the base card the same distance on both sides.

Anniversary Flip-It

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and today's share is the Anniversary card I made for my husband. We will be celebrating 32 years of marriage this year!

Funny story about the light bulb image.  I stamped it on white card stock, covered it with a piece of double sided adhesive, polished in Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and coloured it with Tombow Markers. It had dried and I fussy cut it and had it in my hands while I selected the papers to use for the card. Then ... it disappeared. I searched everywhere!  Since I really wanted to use the light bulb, I stamped this one. I added colour with pencils and stamped the words beside it then assembled the Flip-It card. Two days later, the lightbulb appeared on my stamping table. Apparently I was not meant to use the glittered one on this particular card. Go figure!

Speech balloons are so trendy right now, and I can see why. They are just SO much fun to play with!

While I love corny and puns, hubby not so much. This will make him roll his eyes, but he will smile at the same time.

Anniversary Card for my Parents

Good morning friends!

I've had this card done for awhile, but couldn't post it until my parent's anniversary. It's a large, 6" card and I used the Pop it Ups Heart Pivot as the main feature.

I found this lovely paper with a bit of sparkle, cut it and got the inside attached to the outside.  Then, as I stood there admiring it - I realized I had meant to cut the right edges with the Agatha Edges die BEFORE I attached them together. Sheesh.

So instead, I added a pretty gold Peel-Off border sticker and coloured inside the open hearts with my Sakura gel pen. 

Each die set in the Pop it Ups collection come with decorator dies, so I used several of the heart ones for layering. This pretty gold metallic paper was in my stash and I embossed two of them with a circles and hearts embossing folder then popped them up with foam tape. I stamped 'Happy Anniversary' on a gold die cut label, added Glitter Dots and a sparkly pink Peel-Off. The pink was completely the wrong shade though, so I coloured it with a Copic marker so it better matched the background paper.

Here is a peek at the inside. You can see those gold hearts pivot to the inside when the card is opened. Lots more die cut hearts were added, and I also added the lovely scroll that cuts with the Agatha Edges to the inside. The gold hearts in the upper corners are the leftover bits from the heart border Peel-Off I used on the front!

I penned the words on another die cut label then folded it in half. I attached it inside, but not right to the fold - so it has another little pop out feature. Glitter Dots were added to that label as well. What would a card be without Glitter Dots?

This Anniversary was hard for my parents, with my Dad being in a full care facility and them being apart. I know life is all about changes, but that doesn't mean we have to like them all.

Designer Challenge Card - Using the Heart Pivot Die

Hello friends!

This is a Very Exciting Day ... welcome to the first group post featuring the Pop it Ups dies by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. Check the right side of my blog for links to my fellow Designer Challenge teammates. We will be posting our projects today and/or tomorrow, with Karen doing a big post on Wednesday showing her project.

Karen challenged us to use one of her Pivot dies, so I chose the Heart Pivot. These are wafer thin dies, they come WITH decorator dies for layering and accents, and YOU get to choose the size of your card and where on the fold you want the Pop it Ups feature. Most of the dies work well together AND if you have any Pop 'n Cuts ... they work with those too. Karen really thought of everything with these dies and the entire design team has been having a blast with them.

We were invited to a 50th Wedding Anniversary party and to celebrate this special milestone I wanted to bring an extra special card.

Because we were bringing the card to the party, I was free to make the card large (6" square), add bulky embellishments (ribbon & bow), and heavy (lots of foam tape).  I also decorated the envelope, and wrote their names on the front with Calligraphy, but I didn't show that in the envelope photo below.

I used lots of Pop it Ups dies for this card, which looks way better in real life because of all the shimmer. The patterned card stock is pearlized, there is shimmer in the sheer ribbon, I used a metallic silver marker, and Glitter Dot Peel-Offs add even more sparkle.

The top patterned layer is popped up with lots of foam tape. To get the Heart Pivot to cut in the proper place for both layers, I attached the smaller top panel to the card layer with temporary adhesive. Then I opened the card, placed the Heart Pivot on the fold and ran it through the Big Shot with all the layers. Even though this is a heavy weight patterned paper, the dies had no trouble cutting through them with one pass. Being free to move the die wherever you want to on the fold is a key feature to these dies ... I chose to move mine up towards the top so as not to cut through the pretty swooshes on the inside.

I removed the temporary adhesive, outlined the panel with a silver marker and ran just the panel through the Big Shot with the Slot dies that come with the Lucy Label Pop Up.  The ribbon I wanted to use was too wide for the slot, so I lined them up again, moving them each over a little to the left and ... ta da ... the perfect slot width for my ribbon.

I added some pen doodles in spots, and added some heart layers with the Decorator Dies that come WITH the Heart Pivot.  I added Glitter Dots to the die cut '5' and '0' then popped them up too. (LOVE love love Glitter Dots.)

The Agatha Edges set comes with two edge dies and a pretty scroll that matches them. I cut one of the scrolls from coordinating paper, cut it in half, and added each piece to the two right corners of the top panel.  Then the panel was popped up with lots of foam tape onto the main Heart Pivot card.

Here is what the card looks like inside. The two decorated hearts pivot to the inside of the card when it is opened.

I stamped the word Cheers! and added some hand lettering under it, on a hand cut banner. The banner was popped up with foam tape too. The ink wouldn't dry on the banner though, so I ended up wiping it off and using a Sharpie marker to trace over the word.   V E R Y  carefully.  :-)

On the 2nd pivot heart, I added two wine glasses cut from silvery shimmery card stock and they were popped up onto a die cut heart, which was popped up onto the Heart Pivot. I added a Glitter Dot to each of the wine glasses too. This couple loves their wine, so I know they would appreciate that touch.

I added a scroll (from the Agatha Edges set) on each side of the opened card ...

Because the front of the card is so heavy, I wanted to balance the other side. I cut a piece of the patterned card stock with the Agatha Edge die, and attached it at the back - it looks pretty and adds the stability I was looking for.

Another February Annviersary Card!

I have a quick and easy Anniversary card to share today. Remember I said that I wanted to use things UP in my studio? Well I've had these rose printed cards for years and YEARS. I wondered if the Heart Pivot would work on them, and it did!

The cards are an A6 size, so I trimmed them down to 4-1/4" x 5-3/4".  I used a gold Sharpie on the edges and I was ready to decorate the card.

The Heart Pivot die is a Pop it Ups die, by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.  There are three Pivot dies in the collection; this heart, a butterfly and a pretty label shape.  Each one comes WITH the decorator dies for creating layers and embellishments, so I cut two of the smaller hearts out of patterned paper and added gold Peel-Off stickers.

The Best Wishes are from a sheet of Peel-Off stickers I've had in my sticker drawer for a very long time. Since I"m enjoying the Peel-Off's so much these days, I pulled out all my older ones as well.  I painted inside the 'heart flowers' with Twinkling H20's.  I love the subtle shimmer this paint gives. No surprise that I also added Glitter Dots to the card ... I love those Glitter Dots! The photo below is the back of the card ...

When you open the card, the back and front hearts pivot to the inside ...

I added two more heart layers and a Glitter Dot as an place to add our signature ...
