It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and I have a holiday card to share made with the Rectangle Pull Card by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I was having fun with the beautiful pinecone and sprig by Elizabeth Craft Designs and this card just made itself!

I had a strip ofgold foil card left from other projects and no way I was going to let any of it go to waste - so I trimmed it down and used the pieces on this card for some holiday shimmer and shine.

Into my Christmas Card Stash with this one.

Mummy Halloween Card

Good morning friends

I found this inked and embossed background panel in my stash, and decided to USE it and make a Halloween card. It's always such a good feeling to use something that you've been hanging onto ... done and done!

Inside, rather than have it be a simple flat card, I added the spinner from the Rectangle Pull Card to animate this fun Mummy sticker. Takes only a few minutes, but you get a card with some oomph!

C4C357 A Colour Challenge

Good morning friends

It's Saturday  so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our October 2016 hostess is Caz Counsell and our Guest Designer is Heidi Green - The Crafty Goat Girl

Caz's challenge is:  "Colour wheel mix up... find your favourite 2 colours on the wheel and use the 2 colours on the opposite side of the wheel …. this will challenge you to maybe use colours you would usually shy away from."

Given the choice, my favourite colours to work with would be blue and green. The opposite colours are pink and orange. I was going to use pink and orange card stocks to make my card, but found this patterned paper looking for something else and ... well, there was enough pink and orange on it to grab my attention.

I used the Rectangle Pull Card by Karen Burniston to create a 5 x 7" Pull card. There is lots of added glitter glue and this card is quite sparkly in real life.

When you pull the sides, the card opens and the cupcake spins up. The Rectangle Pull Card comes with this optional spinner and it's great for animating all kinds of things.

I used Joset's sweet cupcake die and added lots of glitter to that too!

Karen Burniston's August 2016 Designer Challenge "Flour or Flower "

Good morning friends

It's time for the August Designer Challenge "Flour or Flower' ...  Make a card with flowers OR make a card with a baking/cooking theme - you decide! What a FUN challenge! I opted for 'Flour' and this is what I came up with.

I can't tell you how much fun it was making this card. I just smiled the whole time it was coming together.  Sweet Baker has been busy baking and decorating a birthday cake, and the card base is a Stand Up card made with the Rectangle Pull Card die.

Here is the card in the closed position, ready to be put in an envelope.

I love it when I can get extra use out of my dies, and using the Rectangle Pull Card as a Stand-Up (or Easel) card is a great example of that. Also the cake layers - they are supposed to be layered onto the Cake Pop-Up but they also work great as a flat embellishment!

The little slice of cake was cut from Soft Finish Card Stock, then brushed with Wink of Stella (several coats). It looks so SHIMERY - I love it. The fork was coloured with a metallic marker.

I added a second oval inside the opened card as a spot to sign the card, and another little cupcake to carry on the cake theme.

C4C 347 Stand-Up Pull Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog.  Our hostess for July is Joanne Grzelak and the Guest Designer is Alexis Crossland-Smith Scrappin’ Sistah
Here is Joanne's challenge this week:  I love the ocean (thus the name of my blog).  Spending time there brings me peace and joy. Make a card depicting the type of place that brings you peace and joy.

I couldn't figure out what to make for the longest time. I always say that Arizona is 'my happy place', so I was trying to figure out a SW style card. Then, as we were driving home one day and I said to hubby - "I'm so glad we moved out here (to the country) - I love living here".  I've said that to him literally hundreds of times, but this time I went 'AH HAH ... now I know the theme for my C4C card! It's impossible not to feel peace and joy living in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

I used the Rectangle Pull Card by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs to create a Stand Up Card ... below is the card folded flat and ready to put in the envelope.

It was time to give the Tim Holtz Treeline a little love, so I combined it here with the Western Edges (Karen Burniston) and her Cloudy Day Stencil.

Carole at PaperPastimes in Calgary was good enough to hand deliver my Show Samples of Karen Burniton's newest release to Els at the Trade Show in Salt Lake City, and when I dropped them off to her I managed to pick up two new word stamp sets. This card uses one of them for the 'C'mon get HAPPY'.

You can see how the card stands for display, which is a cool feature of this type of card. It's always fun to find different ways to use the dies you may already have, as shown here with the Rectangle Pull Card. The cool thing about the coloured Soft Finish Card Stock at Elizabeth Craft Designs, is that it is white on the reverse side. Perfect for making a card like this!

Canada Day Pull Card

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and I have a Rectangle Pull Card to share today. I could not resist using Baker the Beaver to create a Canada Day card for a friend.

I've had the flag sticker in my stash for years ... I simply extended the flag pole with a narrow strip of black card stock and tucked it under Baker's arm.

The notch holds the card in the closed position, but you don't see it under the #proudcanuk hash tag banner. When you pull the card sides, the card opens up to reveal the greeting.

Zentangle ATC Pull Card

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog I'm doing a cross post with my Altered Zen blog. I have a Z-Fold card to share today that features a Zentangled ATC as the main embellishment.

I'm tickled to see how nicely the ATC's fit on the Rectangle Pull Card!

Here is a close up of the ATC itself - it was done on an official Zentangle ATC which is made from the most beautiful paper.

Inside is a tangled panel with stamped words and I wrote my message on the second one. It was a good opportunity to lightly stencil some colour onto the panels as well.

Karen Burniston May 2016 Designer Challenge, Card #1

Good morning friends

Today's share is my first card for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge ...  Stage it Stencils - Make a project of any theme incorporating one or more stencils. 

I'd been itching to use black card stock and metallic paints with the Stage it Stencils, and I'm really happy with how the card turned out. And it's WAY prettier in real life, where the light catches all the metallic.

I used the Rectangle Pull Card to create a 5 x 6-1/2" card and then I randomly pounced metallic paints through the Swirly Flourish Stage it Stencil.

I had these pretty 3-d stickers in my stash, so added them the front along with a heart brad.

Inside the stamp was gold embossed and coloured with metallic gel pens. The die cut flourish is actually the steam from the Cup Pop Stand, cut from black and outlined with a gel pen.

Lily Sympathy Pull Card

Today's share is a sympathy card - never fun ones to make but it's nice that I can be thinking of the family all while I'm making their card.

One of the great things about the Pop it Ups dies, is that you get to decide on the size of the card. Since I was using a Big Shot Pro, I was able to make a larger 5 x 7" card with the Rectangle Pull Card. I have been steering away from A2 cards the last little while - larger cards just feel so much more substantial.

The lily panel was fussy cut from a sheet of patterned paper and I added some glitter glue to the petals. The Pull Card Edges allow you to cut a mat around the left edge of the pull card and again - you get to decide on the size you want.

The notch holds the card in the closed position (love that) until the recipient pulls the sides to open and reveal the inside.

Foiled Egg Easter Cards

Good morning friends

I'm pretty excited about today's cards! It's no secret that I love Flip-its cards, and was happy to hear there was a new 5" x 7" Flip-Its on the market. But wait - with Karen Burnison's Z-fold Pull Cards, You not only get to choose where you want the centre shape to go on the fold, you get to choose the size of your card as well.

So if your cutting machine can handle a larger card, you can make a 5" x 7" Z-fold card using the Pop it Ups dies you already have!! Ha, there is no reason I haven't done this more often but now I'm HOOKED on making these larger cards. They just feel so substantial, not to mention that you get a lot more real estate for decorating. Note - you are going to need a larger machine to create a 5" x 7" card from most larger dies from any manufacturer.

For today's share I made a quick and easy 5" x 7" Rectangle Pull Easter Card using this beautiful foiled card stock. With the remaining piece I fussy cut some eggs for embellishments and also made two flat A2 cards.

Ta da ... with it's large size, the flip it interaction and beautiful foiled print - this card has a lot of WOW. Yet it took only minutes to make. Gotta love that.

I penned a greeting on a cream rectangle, punched two butterflies from a scrap and the card was done.

The two A2 cards are equally understated. I simply cut the panels using a Blueprints die and tied ribbons from my stash around the panel before adhering to the inside.

I have re-discovered heat embossing. Haven't done it in years and years but I dug out my heat-gun and purchased some basic embossing powders. I have no idea where my collection of powders is - haven't seen that bin since we moved, and the powder is over 20 years old anyhow.

The words inside the flat cards were gold embossed. So pretty!

Note - to create the 5 x 7" Pull Card, I used Karen Burniston's formula of adding 3" to the finished width of your folded card. I wanted a 5" wide card, 7" high. I cut my patterned card stock to 8" (5" for my finished folded size + the additional 3") x 7" for the height. Then I scored the 8 x 7" patterned card at 4" (in the centre), put the alignment nubs on that score line and ran the Rectangle Pull Card & card stock through my Big Shot Pro.

C4C 321 - Down Under Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday, and that means a new challenge on the Crazy4Challenges Blog:  The 26th January was Australia Day, as I live in the "land down under", lets celebrate with a Down Under Challenge. Create a card with something down under, it could be under the sea, or a tree or underground, under an umbrella or even from down under in the world.

I have a mischievous Jinks the Monkey on my card, who is after the slices of birthday cake. Obviously one of the party guests is a little scared of monkeys and is hiding under a bowl (made from the Cup in the Cup Pop Stand set).

I added the slider mechanism from the new Oval Pull Card on this Rectangle Pull Card so when you open it, Jinks slides across the card. You can see how he swapped out the slice of cake with a banana. Ha!

I drew the little banner - the card was made before I discovered how wonderful the Frame Edges for the Ring Accordion worked as banners. Balloons are from the Lucky Birthday Clear Stamps and colouring was done with coloured pencils. The sweet little frame around the words is from the Hanging Charm Pull Tab set.

Masculine Hot Air Balloon Pull Card

It's  Masculine Card Monday  here on my blog, and I wanted to share a card I made with the new Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up die. Here I used it with the Rectangle Pull Card for a fairly quick card.  I think Karen Burniston's new releases for CHA have hit the ball right out of the park - it's AMAZING. I added pen work to the basket and one of Karen B's new stamps on the front.

Inside is more stamping with the new stamps, and pen work around the edge of the stamped rectangle.

Rectangle Pull Gift Card Holder

Good morning friends

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog and I have a fun card to share today using more of Karen Burniston's newest release combined with older ones. The Pop it Ups all work so well together!!

You know I love to make Pull Cards, and one of the new die sets are the Pull Card Edges. You get edges that cut around the Spiral Circle, the Rectangle and the new Oval Pull cards leaving an even border around the inner edge. This was something I had been hoping and wishing, and yes - begging for so I'm pretty happy. In addition, there is a scalloped edge - that just happens (ha!) to be the perfect size, shape and placement for the notches that hold the Pull Cards closed. I am a happy camper.

I used the Rectangle Pull Card Edge die for the left side of the card, and because the die only cuts around the opening - the other side can be any size you wish. I cut it a little wider, then use the scalloped border to cut the very left edge. After it was adhered to the base, I added a Glitter Dot to each of the scallops.

The right side was cut with the scalloped border, and I added a glitter dot to the notch. What started this card, is I wanted to see if I could adhere the centre portion of the Gift Card Accordion to hold a Gift Card. And it worked perfectly! Thus ... the 'a gift for you' on the front.

Inside, you can see where I slid in a card with hand lettered spacer to show where to add a gift card. The right side is a stamped rectangle using some of Karen Burnston's new clear stamps! I added a couple of flourishes and more Glitter Dots, as well as a popped up tiny heart on the Eiffel Tower.

Kind of a fun way to combine a Gift Card WITH a greeting card.
