C4C279 Think Spring Hybrid Card

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. Our hostess for March is Anja de Regt, and her Guest Designer is Andrea Murdock (My Stamping Heaven).

This is not what I intended to create for this challenge. I was thinking more along the lines of the Pop it Ups Garden Bench ... but the new Adirondack Chair die is stored on the same magnetic sheet as the Garden Bench, so I decided to use it instead.  I also used a digital scrapbooking kit and some graphics to create the card.

I added the printed and fussy cut flowers around the pop up Adirondack Chair but the rest was printed as a single piece.

I printed an extra piece of the cloud background and also of the green, to slip in behind the openings created by the Adirondack chair. I like the seamless look this gives. The chair was die cut again from white card stock, and adhered over the original one, which had the blue clouds on the top and the green polka dots on the seat and legs from the original cut.

I added Stickles to the banners and pink Glitter Dots to the flower centers.

All in all, I was happy with how this turned out. I still need to work on my sizing, as it can be tricky (for me) working from the computer screen and visualizing how it will print out to assemble a pop up card.  LOVE the Adirondack Chair - it's going to be so much fun to play with and it's so easy to create. Karen Burniston thought of everything - look at the embossed texture on the arms of the chair! 

This card is going to my Mother-In-Law for Mother's Day.

Shamrock Pull Card

Good morning friends

I had printed a couple of extra paper panels when I made my friends Birthday card (see HERE), so used them to make a surprise St. Patrick's Day card for my Mom. I don't usually send her a card for St. Patrick's Day but I know she loves to get Happy Mail.

I used the Spiral Circle Pull Card die for the card base, which is a Pop it Ups die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I just happened to have some gold Washi Tape, so I added it along the fold.


I also decided to add a stamped, die cut dog to yesterday's Adirondack chair Pop Up. So cute!

St. Patrick's Day Birthday Card

Good morning friends

Today I have a hybrid Birthday card to share - my friend Kelly's birthday is on St. Patrick's Day!

I used the Spiral Circle Pull Card die, by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. The patterned paper etc were printed from a Digital Scrapbook kit, and I did the word-art on the computer too.

The spinner comes from the Rectangle Pull Card die set, and I used it to animate the green hat when the card is opened. The hat is from the Props - 1 die set, and you can have lots of fun changing up the look of it.

Hybrid St. Patrick's Day Cards

Good morning friends

Today's share are the St. Patrick's Day cards I made for the Grandkids. I don't know that I will always send them St. Patrick's Day cards but this year I wanted them to get some Happy Mail Love Notes from Gramma.

I used a digital Scrapbooking kit, and printed everything out on white card stock.

Floral Photo Card

Today's share is a card from my older photo files ... a hybrid card. 

The entire 4x6 panel was created in Photoshop, using one of my photos and digital elements from my collection. Unfortunately I had an 'external hard drive OOPS' and lost all of my files so can't comment on the designers of the papers. Some were from my own designs as well, which I also lost in the Big Oops.

Yes, even the paper clip and ribbon were added digitally.

Once I was happy with the project, I printed it out on 4x6 photo paper and attached it to a slightly larger folded card. I love being able to use one of my photos on a card ... it makes it so personable, both to make and to receive.

Hybrid Easter Card

Today I'm sharing the Easter cards I mailed out this year:

The inside and decorated panel were created in Photoshop with a digital scrapbooking kit, and printed onto smooth white card stock. The 'bunny chick' was stamped onto the same white card stock, coloured with Copic markers, then cut out with a Spellbinders label. It was popped up with foam tape onto the printed panel.

I added 'hand painted' digital shadows to the elements before printing for realism - but I have a confession to make. I did all the printing a long time ago ... and now I have no idea who the designer of the digi kit is, or where I even got it. I had an accidental wipe of my external hard drive that contained all my digital kits.

All I needed to do to finish the cards was to assemble the printed pieces and stamp/colour/cut the 'bunny chick'.  These are A2 sized cards, and I loved how they turned out.

Hybrid Valentines

These are the Valentine cards I made for our Grandkids ...

Once again I used graphics from Lettering Delights to create the image panels, then printed them out on 4x6 glossy photo paper with my Epson PicureMate photo printer. I love how they look on glossy paper. 

I barely nicked the sides with a small hole punch, then tied bakers twine around the panels. The little notches keep the twine nice and snug.

Even though these were quick and simple to make, I think they turned out pretty cute.

Action Wobble Valentines

I was feeling pressed for time, so decided to try and keep my 2013 Valentine's somewhat simple this year.  These two were made for my parents to give our Grandkids. I used clip art from Lettering Delights to create the image/words, and printed them out on my (fabulous) little Epson PictureMate photo printer.

 I cut the 4x6 glossy panels with a Stampin' Up/Spellbinders label die, then used Action Wobbles to attch them to the printed paper panel. They wobble and bob and are just plain fun!

The sweet owl got some stamped dots (Stamps by Judith) and sparkle.

 I know the kids are going to enjoy these.   :-)))

Christmas Card from the Dogs

We always give our vet and groomer a little Christmas gift and card. This year I decided to go with photo cards:

Earlier this fall, I bought an Epson Picture Mate Charm, which prints beautiful 4x6 photos. I love that little printer, and once this card was designed I simply printed out 2 copies on glossy 4x6 photo paper.

The digital scrapbooking kit I used is from Scrappers Guide. Both pictures were matted with red card stock, then attached to a folded white card base and I stamped a Christmas verse inside.

Now I need to shop for the gifts to go along with the cards.  :-)

Hybrid Thanksgiving Card

Our Grandson wasn't even going to be 3 months old at Thanksgiving, but since I made his sister a Thanksgiving card I wanted to make one for him too.

I printed a panel using Hallmark Card Studio onto light white card stock, trimmed and matted it with a textured orange card stock. That was popped up onto a royal blue folded card and I added Glossy Accents to the bears nose for a little somethin' somethin'. I also added some shading with coloured pencils so the image wasn't quite so 'flat' looking.

The words inside were done the same way - printed then matted and mounted onto the A2 card base.

Hybrid Card for Freshly Made Sketch 50

I wanted to make a cute card for our Granddaughter for Thanksgiving, but I don't have any cute (toddler) stamps. I thought about firing up my Cricut, but then I remembered that I have a Hallmark Card Studio installed on my Very Old Windows Laptop.  Perfect!

I also checked out the latest sketch at the Freshly Made Sketch Challenge Blog, and decided to combine it with the Hallmark image.

I chose not to use the embellishment from the top left in the sketch though.

Two full images were printed onto heavy computer paper, then one was glued to white card stock for stability. I fussy cut the little raccoon from this second image to layer onto the full printed one. But - I didn't use foam tape, I used one of my Action Wobbles!!!

I think Olivia will get a kick out of  this 'boinging' racoon.  I know I do.  :-)

 

The card started out as 6" square, but when I was laying out the pieces I decided to trim off 1/2" from the right side. It worked much better for the sketch that way. I was able to use my new Wisteria Wonder card stock for the matted layers, and a textured embossing folder (Stampin' Up) on the brown banner. Also, I added some orange Bakers Twine.

 

This was such a fun sketch to use, and I can see lots of different ideas for it.

Teacup Hybrid Card

Sorry folks ... we had a really busy holiday weekend and I'm whipped. I have only a quick post today.

This is a large card - about 5x7".  A friend gave me a couple of these tea cup printed, scalloped panels a few years ago and I thought it was time to USE them.  The word-art (my own) was printed on a transparency, trimmed and attached to pink striped paper with gold eyelets. That was then attached to the scalloped panel, which in turn was attached to a pink card stock base.

CFC 10 ... Shaped Card

 

So challenge #10 at Cas-ual Fridays (see sidebar for link)  is to make a Clean And Simple SHAPED Card.   I had to put my thinking cap on for this one, although now that I have looked through the amazing submissions I could have been more inspired had I done that earlier!  If you have a chance to swing by and see all the great shaped cards - do so. It's worth it!

I went with a Christmas card ... sized to fit into a #10 business envelope. The shaped card is Cricut cut from "A Child's Year" cartridge. I used the 'hide contour' feature with my Gypsy to hide the heart that would have cut out of the front as I wanted to add my own.  

The holly punch is by Emagination, and the heart is a Tim Holtz Sizzix die. Both are stamped with a background image (Stamps by Judith), edges are inked and doodling added with a brown pen. The heart was popped up with foam tape. I cut another bone shape slightly smaller, inked and doodled on the edges of that, then attached it inside with a red Merry Christmas greeting (DeNami Design).  The red envelope is stamped with a bone tree (Magenta) in hunter green, then the little bones were coloured with pencils. Totally a cute card to give a groomer, vet or dog care provider from your furry kid.  :-)

Originally I thought I'd add a smaller bone shaped panel to the front of the card, but when I decided not to I had a large bone die cut to add to my 'Odds and Sods' pile. Plus, I cut both heart shapes -- so I had an extra heart too. I'm trying to USE UP that pile, not add to it ... so I immediately put together this card to have on hand. Hope I don't have to use it for a very, VERY long time.

I was also able to use up a leftover piece of that digital cloud paper! (Digital Design Essentials)  The wings (Stampendous) were stamped with brown and coloured with Copic markers before cutting them out. I attached them to the back of the die cut heart after inking and stamping and doodling on it, then popped the whole thing up with foam tape. I loved the little tear drop gem (iRock) - it seemed fitting somehow. The words are by Technique Tuesday (Ali Edwards).

Summer Card

Challenge #82 this week at the Cricut Cardz Challenge Blog, is: 
For challenge #83 make a card with summer apparel or an accessory, using any cartridge and colors you'd like
 Hmmm ... I really wasn't sure what to do with this one. Especially since I haven't even USED my Cricut in weeks and weeks! However, a quick flip through the Kate's ABC handbook and I knew exactly what I wanted to make:

 I thought sunbonnets and butterfly nets are perfect apparel for a summers day! I cut this image at 3", but another time I would cut it larger and mount it on a 5x7" card. This one is an A2 card.

The sentiment stamp is by Hampton Arts, and I stumbled on it at Michaels. Actually there was a whole bin of them and I bought one of each one that appealed to me. For $1.50 each I thought it was a great deal and I have used a couple of them already.

That blue cloud paper? A digital paper from Digital Design Essentials. I printed it on regular computer printer paper just to see how it looked, and decided to keep and use it!

I have seen so many Cricut cut images cut from Bo Bunnies dotted paper and I love the look. Even bought a couple of sheets to use but was a little CHOKED at the price of each sheet and didn't buy very many. So ... I had a look through my older stamps and found some background images that will give card stock some pattern without the cost of the others. 

I also hoard Bazzill card stock, and save all but the tiniest scraps. This light green strip at the bottom of the card came out of the scrap bin. Love it when it works out like that.
