C4C 355 Birthday Pull Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday  so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our September 2016 hostess is Raquel Mason and our Guest Designer is Fran Sabad.

Raquel's son Jake celebrates his birthday today, so her challenge is to make a Birthday Card for someone you love. Our son had a birthday this month, so this is the card I made for him using some fun beer stickers from my stash.

I started my card with an A2 patterned card - pattern on the right side and and the solid coloured back on the left. These cards are white inside, and they are perfect to use for any of the Pull Cards by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

As is, it would create a 5-1/2" square card. I trimmed 1/4" off each side for a 5 x 5-1/2" card which fits perfectly into a 5 x 7" envelope for mailing.

I stamped the banners with Karen Burniston's new Occasions Clear Stamps, then die cut them with the coordinating die in the Anita Frames Pop-Up. The banners were strung with bakers twine.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C355.

Gourd Oval Pull Card for Thanksgiving

Good morning friends

Today I'm sharing a Thanksgiving card made using the Oval Pull Card by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. This time though, I didn't cut the notch that holds the card in the closed position by stopping the cutting pad before the notch.

I had a piece of this lovely gourd printed paper leftover from a different project and when I saw the gourd embellishments in my stash I knew exactly what I wanted to do. The Pull Card Edges were used on the left side of the card, cutting a pretty gold foiled patterned paper in the same paper stack. Below you can see the card as it is opened.

Supplies:

Father's Day Oval Pull Card

Good morning friends

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and I have a Z-Fold Father's Day card to share today using the Oval Pull Card by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I had just received my Stampin' Up order and wanted to use this cool airplane stamp so this is what I came up with.

The Oval Pull Card comes with optional Slot and Slider dies and I chose to use them here to animate the plane. I added some pen lines on the card, including the little heart trail on the slider arm. There is a similar stamp in the set, but I wanted to doodle this one.

As you pull the sides of the card, the notch releases and you get a glimpse of the inside and how the Slot & Slider work.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - Echo Park
White card stock
Oval Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Pull Card Edges, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Printer
Colored Pencils - TriColor, Koh I Noor
Fine line black pen
Fine point markers - Staedtler

C4C 345 Sketch

Good morning friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog.  Our hostess for July is Joanne Grzelak and the Guest Designer is Alexis Crossland-Smith Scrappin’ Sistah

Since it's the 3rd Saturday of the month - Joanne has a sketch for us this week:

Here is my take on the sketch ... I saw the oval and immediately knew I wanted to use the Oval Pull Card, by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I added a butterfly embossed panel on the left, a layered HUGS die and stamped banner on the oval, and dangled a butterfly charm from the oval to represent the star on the sketch.

The charm is from the Hanging Charm Pull Tab set ... it's fun to add little dangling charms on other cards as well as the HCPT.

C4C344 Daisy Pull Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog.  Our hostess for July is Joanne Grzelak and the Guest Designer is Alexis Crossland-Smith Scrappin’ Sistah

Here is Joanne's challenge this week:  July 11 is Cheer Up the Lonely Day. Let’s create cards of encouragement.

I have this wonderful encouragement stamp set from Verve, and this was a perfect time to use it! I started with the Oval Pull Card by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs, and decided I really wanted to colour on a glittered Peel-Off.

The notch holds the card in the closed position until the recipient pulls the sides to open the card. Love that feature. I know I've said it before but I love that feature!

Els designed these pretty daisy Peel-Off's to work with the Oval Pull Card and Oval Accordion so I knew they would fit perfectly. Both the words and inner Peel-Off are hidden until the card is opened.

Inside I used a Transfer Sheet to adhere the negative part of the Peel-Off.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C344.

'Be Fierce' Pull Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is an Oval Pull Card I made using a new stamp set from Verve. I stamped the words in light grey, went over the printed letters with a marker and painted the brush lettering with water colours. My first time doing this and I will be doing it again for sure!

The notch at the top cuts with the die and keeps the card in the closed position until the recipient pulls the sides to reveal the inside. This card is larger, and will fit in a 5 x 7" envelope for mailing with a single stamp. I'm loving this larger card size, and the beauty of Pop it Ups dies is that YOU get to choose the size of your card, as well as where along the fold you place the design. Pretty darned versatile.

Here is the card opened. We will write our message on the solid white oval.

The boxing gloves were stamped on patterned paper then fussy cut. I made this as a Love Note for our daughter, who fights daily for our Granddaughter's survival with Pulmonary Hypertension.

Supplies:
Oval Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
White card stock
Stamps - Verve
Staedtler Fineliners
Copics
Dr. PH Martins Hydrus Water Colours
Ribbon
Patterned paper - diana kappa

C4C339 - Make it Floral

Good morning friends:

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. I am the hostess for June and our Guest Designer is fellow Designer Team Challenge-mate Caz Counsell from Stamping Caz. Thanks for joining us this month Caz!

My challenge this week is "Make it FLORAL. Add a single flower, add a full bouquet or even make a flower shaped card - let’s see some blooms on your projects this week."

I made a special card for the challenge. I was working ahead as I knew May would be too busy to do much in the way of crafting so my challenge card is the one I made my Mom for Mother's Day.

The card base was cut from purple card stock with the Oval Pull Card by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I also cut a window from the oval, lined it with a transparency and added a narrow oval frame to hide the glued transparency edges. That idea came from Karen B herself, in one of her Designer Challenge Videos.

My Mom loves pansies, so I added these beautiful 3-d pansy stickers that I'd purchased for her card. See the ribbon? The Oval Pull Card comes with an optional slot and slider - so I used the slot die here to cut an opening for the seam binding to thread through. I've done this before, but don't think I've ever mentioned the technique.

In the photo below, you get a better look at the transparent window.

I used a pretty, glittery stencil paste and the Swirly Flourish Stage-it Stencil to add some more shimmer, shine and texture to the card.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C339.

Peek A Boo Gear Stenciled Designer Challenge Card

Good morning friends

Welcome to the Karen Burniston's May 2016 Designer Challenge - Stage it Stencils. The fun thing about stencils, is you get to choose the colour and mediums you use and they are good for all kinds of genre. After yesterday's artsy card, today's card is decidedly cute and made for our Grandson Ilai.

I used the Oval Pull Card and blue card stock for the card base, and then cut the white panels with the Pull Card Edges. Those were then pounced with die ink through the Gears stencil to create my own patterned paper.

I also cut gears from the Clock & Gears set as well as the new Steampunk Charms and added them to the card front and stuffed them into the barrel too along with a dog bone from Props 4.

Over the holidays I received a catalogue with a beautiful rustic wood textured cover. I saved that and used part of it to cut the Barrel/Basket. It looks so realistic!

Using the included slot and slider, I added the filled barrel which hides Buster the Dog. Buster  is revealed when the card is opened.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Designer Challenge Team has come up with for this fun challenge, and Karen Burniston will have her post tomorrow (Wednesday) on her BLOG

I'm going for some yucky dental work today, and expect to be out of commission for a day or two because of the pain meds. I'm a slow healer because of the RA drugs.  Fun and games!

C4C336 - A 65th Birthday Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday, and that means there is a new challenge on the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our May Hostess is Barbara Anders and Wanda Cullen will joining us as our Guest designer this month.

Here is Barbara's challenge this week: May's flower of the month is lily of the valley, typically white. This week's challenge is to use a white flower on your card. If you have a lily of the valley stamp, by all means use it, but as long as your flower is white, it's all good!

My Mom needed a special birthday card, so I used the Oval Pull Card by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs and created a 5 x 7" Z-Fold card with this lovely dimensional white Iris sticker on the front. Note, because of my Mom's failing eyesight, I chose not to use the notch that holds the card closed.

I did use the optional Slot and Slider dies and added a second flower sticker on the end of the slider arm. I love the interactive somethin' somethin' it gives a card, even when it isn't a main focus.

I added a few Glitter Dots to the card, and since it is so busy inside there is a white oval on the back for her to write a nice message.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C335.
