'Love You Tons' Accordion Card (Sneak Peek)

Good morning friends! I'm back with another Sneak Peek of one of Karen Burniston's new Pop it Ups accordion dies - this one is called "Fancy Accordion".  They are being shown at the Elizabeth Craft Designs booth (#441) at CHA starting today!!

Karen B sent me a few of her new dies to play with, and this was the first card I made:

These Accordion Cards/Albums are hugely popular, and now with these new dies through Elizabeth Craft Designs there are THREE new shapes!  In addition to this Fancy Accordion, there is also a circle and an oval - and the oval makes a rectangle card rather than the square card we are used to seeing. That also gives you more room for decorating!  Remember, the Pop it Ups dies are not only wafer thin ... they come with the additional pieces for layering!

You can also buy a set of coordinating 'frame' dies - that come three to a package. I show the packaging photo towards the end of this post.  For this card I chose the scalloped frame, cut it 4 times and attached the pieces to the Accordion card after inking the edges. Easy Peasy - and the frames leave a nice border showing around the outer and inner edges. Ahhh, the things that make me happy.  :-)

I cut just the center accordion part a 2nd time out of pink card stock, trimmed the excess away and  ran the two pieces through the Big Shot with a wood grain embossing folder.  After inking the edges, I attached them directly to the Accordion.

The elephant was stamped and fussy cut, with some subtle shading with pencils.

The gray panels were cut with one of the layering dies that are included with the Fancy Accordion and I added some hand lettering and doodling before attaching them to the wood grain panels.

I cut the smaller heart from Karen Burniston's Heart Pivot die set for the heart that you see in the center of the Pop it Ups Accordion ...

... and added tiny puffy stickers to the embossed pattern on the sides.  Speaking of embossed pattern - that is also part of the Fancy Accordion die! I just ran the cut pieces through the Big Shot again with the Sizzix embossing pad which gave me the raised pattern that shows up even better when inked!

Here is a shot of the back, with the inked frame pieces ... and just for fun I used the heart die to cut hearts from the center of the grey panels, inked them and popped them back up over their opening.

Here is a peek at the packaging for the Pop it Ups Fancy Accordion - so you can see all SIX of the dies that are included in the package.

Below are the 3 frames that come in the Pop it Ups Fancy Frame Edges set ... you get the three top pieces, which you cut 4 times and join together to create perfect little frames for the Accordion card.  How cool are these! They make layering a breeze, and I love that there are three different styles to choose from in one set.  You can also use these on a regular square card, or as a way to frame out an area on a 5x7" card.

The dies will be ready to ship to retailers right after CHA (January 10 - 14th 2014), so if you are interested in purchasing them be sure to contact your local shop and have them place their pre-orders! They will also be shipping to Canada and overseas, so don't think that these are only available in the US. If your local retailers are attending CHA, have them stop by the Elizabeth Craft Designs booth #441 and see the dies in action as well as all the sample cards.

  2. Not only did you post a fabulous card, Karen A., but you explained everything so perfectly! I just love your choices on this cute card - the extra panel with embossing, the holes cut from the back labels, the little heart in the center, the embossed corner decorations. Love it all!

  3. Like how you decorated the back of the card too, it looks so pretty with the sponging you did around the heart.
