Rose Flip-It Birthday Card

Good morning friends!

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog. Ttoday's Flip-It card is the third (of four) I'm putting in a package for my wonderful dental hygenist Anne. I like to bring her a set of cards and I know she hasn't seen these before.  To see the first two, you can click HERE.

My Mom and Dad gave me the rose stamp and die set for Christmas and I was SO happy to be able to finally use it. I brought it to Arizona with me, but then realized I didn't have any ink pads or markers so it pretty much just stayed in the suitcase.

I like to add a label to the inside of my Flip-It cards for a place to pen a little note and signature.

Supplies used:
Circle Flip It - Stephanie Barnard, Sizzix
Rosie Posie stamp and die set - Papertrey Ink
Patterned paper - Recollections
Birthday words - Just Rite
Circle dies - Spellbinders
Label punch - Stampin' Up

I Love You, an Anniversary Card

Good morning friends!

Today's share is an Anniversary card, made with the Heart Pivot Pop it Ups die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

The Heart Pivot die comes with several decorator dies, including the key hole and key dies. I used the keyhole here to represent the letter "I", and added a die cut sparkly 'U". The love word was stamped across the cream heart and I added some touches with a gold Sharpie marker.

One of my favourite ways to use the Agatha Edge dies, is to cut a fancy edge on the front of the card. When you use double sided paper, the inside pattern shows through when the card is closed for a nice detail.  The scroll die comes with the two Agatha Edges, so I cut it and added it to the inside along the fancy cut edge.

You can see that I also outlined the cream hearts with my Sakura gel pen for a little more shimmer and shine. The key was also cut out of sparkly paper. I love this key ... the shape, the size - everything about it.  I cut through both layers of the right pivoting heart with one of the other heart decorator dies that come with the set, and I like the 'window' look this gives.

I also added some Glitter Dots a pretty heart Peel-Off ... you will notice that I'm using Peel-Off's (Elizabeth Craft Designs) more and more on my cards - they are just so versatile! A really nice way to add a little somethin' somethin' ...

I also added two narrow strips of patterned paper on either side of the inner spine, to bring in some of the pattern & colour from the outside of the card.

As decorated as this card is, it is completely mail friendly! You know I love THAT in a card.

782 Agatha Edges - Karen Burniston, Pop it Ups (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Owl and Dog Valentine Cards

Here are the cards I made for my parents to give the Great Grand-Kids ... they both love dogs, and Ethan has started saying 'PUPPY!!!!' so the dog one is for him.  :-)

The cards are 5 x 7", I added doodled borders and chalked outside the edges. I love these 'critter' dies, so it was fun to pull them out again.

All the 3-d chipboard stickers I'm using on my Valentine's this year were in the SAME PACKAGE! There are two remaining to either use this year or save for next Valentine's. Not bad, considering I also got the package on sale.

Both the charcoal for the eyes and the red for the hearts are Stardream ... a heavyweight pearlized card stock.

The yellow pieces were in my scrap bin ...

Both cards got some hand lettering, doodled borders and some stamping with a heart background stamp.

Because the cards are nice and big, Mom is going to bring them to the Care Facility and have Dad 'sign' them too. We thought it would help him feel like he's still included in family things.

Supplies used:
5x7 peach card stock - from my stash
Owl die - Sizzix
Puppy die - Sizzix
Patterned paper - Crate Paper
3-d Chipboard stickers - Pebbles
Chalks
Copics
Red and Charcoal Stardream card stock
Heart background stamp - Stampin' Up

" Hello Spring" Pivot Card

Good morning friends...

Today's share uses the Heart Pivot die, from the new Pop it Ups collection by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. There are so many uses for a hearts besides Anniversaries and Valentine's Day!

I made a "Hello Spring" card, using some sweet patterned paper from a Doodlebug scrapbook kit. I love these new dies - they are wafer thin, and come WITH the decorator dies to create layers and accents.  You can place the dies anywhere you want along the fold of the card, and use any size of card that will fit through your die cutting machine.  When you make a card with these Pivot dies, the decorations that show on the inside pivot to the outside when the card is closed.

Below is a peek at both the front and the back hearts, which were decorated with stickers from the kit, some Bakers Twine and hand lettering.

To get the blue flowered paper on the hearts, I ran the Heart Pivot through the Big Shot with that paper, then just snipped off the extra pieces. They fit the pivoting hearts perfectly that way, then I could use the Decorator Dies and white card stock to add my lettering and stickers too.  I decided to add narrow patterned paper strips on either side of the inner spine, and that is when I ran into a problem.

The heart pivots tore away from the card!  It was an easy fix by punching holes in the center of the hearts and on the card base, and tying them together with Bakers Twine. I thought it was because the paper was 'weak', but Karen Burniston (correctly) suggested I hadn't lined up the Heart Pivot perfectly on the fold.  Lesson learned!

Here is a peek at the back ...

The word 'Spring' was penned, then coloured with chalks in bright, fun colours - and I used the same technique on the penned butterfly trail.  The little butterfly was cut from an older Karen Burniston die and I tied Bakers twine around the body, knotting it at the top. I like that the cut ends resemble antenna.  :-)

I'm including a photo of the packaging for the Pop it Ups Heart Pivot die set ... just look at everything you get with this set!  The sample card pictured also uses the Agatha Edges die set - another favourite.

Patterned Paper & stickers - Doodlebug's "Flower Box" Scrapbook kit
Bakers Twine
Chalks - Stampin' Up

Sparkly Valentines

I have had a crazy busy couple of weeks, and when my Mom asked for a couple of Valentine's for her friends I didn't want to disappoint. But I also didn't have time to make fancy cards. So - pretty, sparkly patterned paper to the rescue!

These are larger cards, 5-1/2 x 6" and the heart patterned paper is SO sparkly I didn't think the cards needed much else. I tied them up with a pretty satin ribbon, as she will be hand delivering these ones.

I kept the insides simple to, but I think they turned out pretty sweet! :-)

I was having to piece two of the cards, so used a scalloped die to cut a piece of coordinating patterned paper and stretch it over the card front.

Wow - it's been a LONG time since I've made a simple flat card. Thank goodness I had this lovely Valentine paper or I'd be stuck for an idea. I'm always thinking about interactive Pop it Ups cards these days.

Supplies used:
Large card base & envelope - Michaels
Ribbon - from my stash
Scallop die - The Stamps Of Life
Patterned paper - K&Co
Word stamp - Michaels

Sweet Baby Boy Card

Good morning friends!

Today's share is a baby card using the new Pop it Ups dies by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs I was on a bit of a roll, so this is the first of several.  :-)

Each of these new wafer thin Pop it Ups die sets come WITH Decorator Dies, and I used a couple of different sets for the card. I hand cut a banner from the green patterned paper, and a heart from the  Heart Pivot die set. There are so many uses for these dies and I love how you can mix and match the different sets. The card is my new favourite size ... 4-1/2 x 6".

For the inside I used several Pop it Ups dies ... the Lucy Label Pop up, one of the Agatha Edges and the scroll and more hearts from the Heart Pivot set.

I stamped the word 'sweet' on a label from the Lucy Label set, and added it to two paper strips.  There is a pole die that comes with the Lots of Pops die set, but I don't have that one yet so had to get creative.

Because there is sparkle in each of the patterned papers, I outlined the fancy edge with my Sakura gel pen. I love matching scroll that comes with the two edge dies, and if the design team cards are any indication - I'm not alone! I also outlined the stamped 'baby' so it catches the light when the card is held.

The slots that the two paper strips were inserted into, also come with the Lucy Label Pop Up die! So fun - you can add them anywhere you want on the card, and in any number you want! I'm still new to this technique, but I can see it's going to be lots of fun.

Here is a better shot of the slots and paper strips holding up the 'sweet' label. You can also see I used that optional pop up bump that cuts with Lucy Label Pop Up and added a little stamped circle to it.

We will be welcoming our third Grand-baby in mid March and we don't know if babe is a boy or a girl. One of my dear friends is going to be a Grandma for the first time early next month, and they also don't know if it's a boy or girl.  I plan on being prepared with several cards of each on hand.  :-)

Here are some packaging photos so you can see all the different dies I used on my card. Be sure to ask your local retailer to contact Elizabeth Craft Designs for the Pop it Ups collection.
