Karen Burniston's June 2015 Designer Challenge Card #2

Good morning friends

Here is my second card for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge for June ... "What's In A Name".  Here is Karen's challenge:  Everyone has to incorporate two Pop it Ups dies according to your first and last initials.  .   I chose the Katie Label Accordion and the Adirondack Chair for this one, and made a Happy Retirement card for hubby.

Now this is a large card - 8-1/2 x 7". I was able to die cut the larger piece of patterned paper because I have a Crossover die cutting machine but I still needed to hinge the front and back outer card pieces with double sided adhesive.

I used a portion of Karen Burniston's new Farm Greeting stamps for the Huge Congrats, fussy cut it out and popped it up on a Lucy Label ... which is also my middle initial letter.

Once again, I was flipping through some of my patterned paper and when I saw this sheet with the lake reflection I knew exactly what I wanted to make. Sometimes the paper just 'tells me' what to make! It's especially meaningful, as a few years ago we were in the Miskoka's with family and I have a photo of hubby and Brother In Law canoeing on a lake in silhouette very similar to the patterned paper.

The canoe on the paper is glossy, which is a fun touch.

Using the star patterned paper from the same stack, I cut a second Adirondack chair and glued it over the popped up one. Then I stamped another one of the Farm Greetings Clear Stamps (Congratulations), fussy cut it out and adhered it on the top of the chair with foam tape.

I used one of the Agatha Edges to die cut the top banner from white card stock, and also used the Happy from the Happy Birthday Pop Up. To make adhering the word and letters easier, I attached the Elizabeth Craft Designs Transparent Double Sided Adhesive to the back of the navy card stock then did my die cutting. The ECD Alphabet 1 - Caps was used for the letters to spell RETIREMENT.

The family all signed his card with a silver sharpie marker, and he really liked it. Really really liked it.

Thank you to Karen Burniston for designing such amazing, creative dies that allow us to make meaningful cards for friends and family.
