Karen Burniston's December 2014 Designer Challenge (Card #2)

Good morning friends

I have a second card to share for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge this month, which is "Pop it Ups for every month". I chose July (Canada Day) and October (Thanksgiving), sharing the July card yesterday.  Today is my Thanksgiving card!

Raquel Mason, one of my Design Teammates did this cool window technique last year and I finally decided to give it a try. I cut a window from the front pivot, and sandwiched a transparency piece in between the pivot that cuts with the card, and a second frame I cut from the same patterned paper. The window and frame, as well as all the label layers were cut with the Decorator Dies that come with the Katie Label Pivot.

After adhering the 3-d sticker on the back of the second pivot, I added white rub-ons to the transparency.  The pumpkin sticker got some glam with Glitter Dots. You know I love those Glitter Dots!

The wavy border on the card front was cut with Karen B's Outdoor Edges, and the brown card stock strips were embossed with her Damask embossing folder. Hard to see the texture in the photos though.

I applied more rub-ons inside the card and on the layered labels. Also, since the patterned paper is lighter in weight than card stock, I added a 1/4" strip of the same paper on either side of the inner fold. It's surprising how much stability these little strips give the card.

I decided to add patterned paper strips to the back of the card as well. This not only adds stability, but a bit of colour and design to the back of the card. Especially since people will probably turn it over to see the 3-d Thanksgiving sticker that shows through the window when the card is in the closed position.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team has come up with for the challenge ... with something for every month of the year, there is sure to be a couple to projects to inspire you. The Designer  Challenge Team is linked to the right of my blog.  Karen Burniston will be on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog tomorrow with her post for the challenge, so you won't want to miss that.  Trust me.
