Triple Time Christmas Challenge Card

The challenge this week at the "52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown" is Triple Time Stamping. This was also a featured in a recent newsletter from SplitCoast stampers, and I found it quite intriguing.

Instead of stamping though, I used patterned paper for all my layers.

I used the bottom right corner of a patterned 12x12" sheet of scrapbook paper (the bottom left corner was used for my Penguin card on THIS post).

Since this was my first time doing this type of layering, I wasn't sure how deep I wanted the layers. I used the Stampin' Up Dimensionals instead of regular foam tape because they give height without giving too much height.  For the little banner at the bottom, I used a dimensional at each end and a regular foam tape piece in the center for a slightly bowed effect.

I dressed up the inside of the card a little, and also made a matching envelope.  :-)

My penguin card was chosen for an Honourable Mention over at Merry Monday's, so that was quite a thrill as well.

I am sure enjoying making my Christmas cards this way - one at a time with no pressure to make multiples. I'm also enjoying making my cards in this larger size instead of the A2 that I have done for so many years.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. A great take on our challenge technique this week at 52CCT - thanks for joining in - Jacqueline xx

  2. SUCH a fabulous use of patterned paper! I ADORE that darling snowman and the inside is perfect, too! Thanks for joining us at 52CCT! :)

  3. Terrific idea Karen to use patterned paper with this technique. It turned out really awesome! Thanks so much for joining us this week at 52CCT!

  4. Hello Karen, I love your cheery snowman card - and the fact you decorated inside PLUS the envelope so beautifully gets you extra brownie points!

However, the technique is called triple time stamping and when I set this challenge I did want to see stamping on the layers. So sorry hun, but I'm going to be a stickler and say this doesn't meet the technique challenge requirement and so we will not be able to consider your card for an honour spot.

Having said all of that, I think your use of patterned paper is a great take on the layering aspect of the challenge and a very creative idea! You've clearly put in a lot of great work and the extra details of the inside and envelope mean you've made such a special card! I was truly delighted to see this happy card and so glad you shared it with us at 52 {C}CT. I sincerely hope that my being a stickler will not discourage you from joining in our challenges in the future - we would love to see you playing along with us again soon! {{{{hugs}}}} Ruth x

    1. Oh Ruth - no problem. The challenge clearly stated stamping so I'm not at all discouraged from playing along with all of you at 52 {C}CT. I was just inspired by the technique and the patterned paper and am so glad I had a chance to make the card. I'll enjoy choosing just who to send it to next Christmas.
      Cheers, Karen

  5. Hi, Karen!

You've used the technique SO beautifully! So clever of you to use patterned paper! I love it!

You are SO good about creating your Christmas cards ahead of time.

Sorry I haven't been around much, lately. My computer has been acting up. I never know when it will be working or not working.

    Take care!
    Happy crafting!

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment. I read them all, and appreciate them greatly!
Have a great day,
