Sunrise Birthday Cards

The challenge this week at the "Less Is More" blog, is a colour challenge. Red and Orange.  I decided to use my new Penny Black scene stamp and give it a go. I LOVE how it turned out!

While it might look complicated, this was an Easy Peasy card to make. I simply stamped the image twice on scrap paper. On the first image, I trimmed along the top mountain range and on the 2nd I trimmed away the bottom edge - not worrying about cutting around the animals as they are stamped so dark that my light sponging would have no effect on them.

Once my images were stamped with black on white card stock panels, I placed the first trimmed scrap - my MASK - over the stamped area and then used a Tim Holtz sponge and red dye ink to drag colour off the mask and onto the stamped panel.  Once I was happy with the red, I went back in with orange, taking that colour all the way to the top edge of the panel.

I removed the first mask, replaced it with the 2nd, and then dragged orange off the bottom. I also went back along the bottom edge and dragged the orange up towards the image. The center of the image looked pretty strange being stark white, so I lightly stippled orange over it with a shaving brush. The words (Stampin' Up) were stamped in black once the orange had completely dried.

The edges of the panels were inked with red to bring out the red, and then the panels were matted with black card stock. I popped them up onto orange (Bazzill) top fold A2 cards and added a white panel inside to stamp the words on.

I really like how this "Christmas" stamp can take on a whole new look when different colours are used.

I have spent WAAAAAAY too much time dealing with chocolate lately. Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate ... all different items for the craft sale. Which is this coming Friday and Saturday. These are items I should have finished before now, but I couldn't just give up on them since I had already purchased the supplies.

Hopefully I will be able to share some photos of them soon. I'm going to try to schedule a couple of posts, as I know things are going to get crazy by mid week.

Thanks for stopping by today!
