Snowflake Greetings

This A2 card was made entirely from scraps and bits from my stamping area.

It's one of those cards that looks better in real life, with all the sparkle and dimension. The white dots on the red patterned panel are embossed and sparkly!  The blue circle base is also cut from sparkly paper.

Some punched snowflakes, bling and a stamped greeting and I was done! (Can't remember who makes the stamp but it's so cute I have to go find it in the drawer and use it again).

Happy Holidays Card Duo

I have a couple of quick and easy A2 sized Christmas cards to share today. The pretty embossed and shiny patterned paper is the feature of these two, with punched snowflakes and a little bling.

The 'Holiday Cheer' stamp is by Hero Arts, and the punch is by Martha Stewart.

On the following card, the 'Happy Holidays' stamp from Impress.

The red holly and the solid strips on this paper are the embossed areas -- so pretty!  (K&Co, I believe)

Dynamic Duo's #32

This weeks challenge at the Dynamic Duo's blog is a monochromatic one ... my favourite!  And with the colours being PINK, I immediately thought of Valentine's Day and my Granddaughter.  :-) 

I am in love with the Tim Holtz Gingerbread Man die ... so decided to use it to make a Valentine gift tag. It's so cute I'm sure Master Tim would just choke at the way I used his die.  

Haha, I even used a Tim Holtz paper pack!  The tag was cut twice - once from patterned paper and once from white card stock. I inked the edges of the pink patterned one, added the white 'icing' (cuts with the gingerbread man) then stamped & coloured that cute little face (Peachy Keen).

The heart was cut from a different patterned paper in the same Tim Holtz stack using a Sizzix die, the edges were inked and I sewed a pink button on then attached a ribbon flower with a pop dot. The heart was attached to the Gingerbread Girl with foam tape.

In the photo below, you can see where I scored a line on the white die cut. I added adhesive above the score line, then attached the two together. This allows the tag to be opened for a message inside AND it stands up on it's own!

Since I had the white crochet cotton out anyhow (for stitching on the button) I did a crochet chain to add to the punched hole for hanging

Now that there is a baby brother in the picture I wanted to make a little boy tag as well...

He is made the same way, only I stitched a button to the heart using (SU) narrow ribbon. I used the same ribbon threaded through a punched hole for hanging.

I am still completely in Christmas mode ... so it was a challenge to switch gears and think Valentine's. The trick is going to be to keep these in a place where I will find them come February!

Photo Birthday Card

Today's share is my final 2012 card for Masculine Card Monday. It's the birthday card I made for my husband and I used a meaningful photo as the main element.

The 4x6 photo was printed using my Epson Picture Mate Charm (LOVE that little printer). I cut two 4x6 panels of cream card stock and layered them to the back of the photo to make it nice and sturdy. Then I popped it up on the black card base.

I  stamped Happy Birthday (PTI) on a scrap of coral card stock, then trimmed it into a flag shape with a MFT die. It was matted with a cream flag and they were both popped up with foam tape.

I think he will love this photo card ... and we will both enjoy having it on display.

Sue's December First

For Sue's December First mailing*** I sent her a set of 4 Wine Bottle Hangers/Tags that are non-Christmas. I wanted her to be able to enjoy them throughout the New Year and not be limited to the upcoming holiday season.

Each of the base tags were cut from heavy kraft card stock with the wine bottle hanger die (all by PTI) then decorated with goodies from The Stash.

For this first tag, I cut a 2nd one from white card stock below the fold line on the die, and trimmed a little off each side. I embossed the kraft base with a music embossing folder - below the fold line. After I stamped the words on the white panel, I popped it up onto the embossed wine bottle hanger base with foam tape and added the bird cage embellishment.

The stamps I used for this whole set are by MFT (My Favorite Things).

The 2nd Wine Bottle Tag uses a new embossing folder - I found this when visiting Arizona with friends last month.  It's sized for an A2 card, and I am really looking forward to playing more with it. For this project though, after embossing it onto the kraft base, I swiped the raised areas with white distress paint. The words were embossed with white embossing powder.

I also added some punched & die cut snowflakes and bling.  

This third Wine Bottle Tag is so cheerful - I think it's my favourite. I love the bright colours against the kraft card stock! Again, I used one of my new embossing folders on the kraft base. I attached one of K&Co's acetate flower bunches to the tag with Crystal Effects.

 I cut two wine glasses (MFT die) out of the same kraft card stock, popped them up with foam tape and added self adhesive gems for some added bling.

Finally, a sweet and simple Wine Bottle Tag.  I used another of K&Co's acetate flowers, and white embossed the words.

*** For those that don't know, my friend Sue lives in a different city. We pop something in the mail to each other on the first of each month.

Because things get to crazy this time of year, I gave her a pass for her December 1st mailing ... and she gave me one for January.  If I hadn't already finished her December envelope, I would have taken her up on the December pass ... but I know from experience how burnt out I'll feel come the end of the month and will appreciate not having to be creative immediately after the holidays.

Card for Merry Monday Sketch #42

I took some time the other day to play in my studio. I loved the sketch #42 from the Merry Monday challenge at Always Playing With Paper, but didn't have a chance to play along the week it was offered. Their latest challenge is a 2 week one, and you can choose any past sketch. I figured with two weeks lead time I would be able to finally use this sketch!

Since I don't need any more holiday cards for this year, these are my first cards for Christmas 2013!!

The paper strips were cut from mostly scraps although I did have to cut into a full red glittery 12x12 sheet from the paper stack. I also got to use my new MFT flag dies - which I'm LOVING!

You can see all the glitter on these papers - so fun and cheerful! Both cards are nearly identical, I was using items that I had laying on my stamping area so those are the main differences. There was one little bird die cut (SU) sitting there so I used it on the card above. There was also a circle from the same paper stack - the inside of a wine bottle tag that I've cut and am waiting to decorate - so I used it for the 2nd card.

The snowflakes were die cut with MFT dies, and that great word stamp is from them also!  I matted the word strip with the same red sparkly paper as the paper flag. It's popped up on the 2nd card, but attached right to the paper flag panel on the first card.

Sue's Christmas Card for 2012

This is the card I made for my friend Sue this year for Christmas ... too bad you can't see the shimmer and shine in these low resolution web photos!

 The Stampin' Up Top Note Die was embossed with a holly embossing folder, then rubbed with dye inks and spritzed with metallic spray.

The ribbon and scalloped netting are both by Stampin' Up, and the plaid paper is embossed and sparkly. I used a larger card, this one is 5 x 6.5" with the Christmas verse was stamped inside.
