Good morning friends
Today is my first card for Karen Burniston's July Designer Challenge ... "Homegrown Holidays - here's your chance to celebrate Christmas (or other winter holiday) on the farm. Create a holiday card with a country feel, using any Pop it Ups dies including (but not limited to) the brand new Farm 2 and Merry & Bright."
I always love Kraft for a theme like this, and when I found this cute patterned paper in my stash the card went together really quickly. I added the 'Merry Christmas' from Karen Burniston's new Merry Christmas Pop Up, from the Merry & Bright Collection. This collection and the Farm 2 Collection will be shipping to retailers the first part of August.
Inside, I made a Pop Stand card featuring Jolly the Mouse holding his (included) Candy Cane. The Candy Cane comes in two parts and is pretty slick the way it goes together perfectly. Jolly is also wearing a Santa Hat ... from the new Props 5 set. Wouldn't it be cute with a snowflake on the end? Or a small pom pom? Oh, and Jolly also comes with a two part cheese piece so he will work all year round. Karen Burniston thinks of everything when she is designing her collections.
The Candy Cane's were cut from red and white adhesive backed card stocks. That made the white layer easy peasy to adhere to the red one, and then the Candy Canes were easy to adhere to the Kraft border!
Jolly is proving to be a favourite with the Designer Challenge Team - you should see all the different ways he's been styled! I made him out of cream and tan, with a pink nose and ears.
I also used the ground/hills from the Outdoor Edges set to create the wavy border for the Candy Canes. One was cut from green and a second slightly narrower one from Kraft.
I will be back tomorrow with a second card for the Designer Challenge and Karen Burniston will have her post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog on Wednesday. The Designer Challenge team is linked on the right of my blog, so you can also check out all the wonderful creations that they have come up with for this fun theme.
