Good morning friends
It's Designer Challenge time again, and this month the challenge is 'Barns Barns Barns'. I have been having SO much fun with Karen Burniston's newest release, the Farm Collection. The barn is fun and very versatile. Very. Think birdhouse, hen house, dog house and more. The whole Designer Challenge Team has great ideas for the Barn Pop Stand die set. What about farm themed wedding invitations, with the name of the Bride and Groom inside the barn's sliding doors? Just sayin'.
For my first Designer Challenge card, I paired the Barn Pop Stand with Cheepers the Chicken, one of the new Pop it Ups Characters. I'm loving Cheepers, and plan on making a whole bunch of them from various patterned papers to have on hand for quick card embellishments.
I used only the one line from Karen Burniston's new Farm Greetings Clear stamps and cut it into a rectangle. I covered up the stamped egg with a die cut egg and shadow (both come with Cheepers).
Here you can see the card partially open. I used a portion of a second stamp for the 'I think you're AWESOME' and cut it out with a stitched label from the Katie Label Accordion. The grass was cut with the Outdoor Edges. I love my new MISTI stamping tool for things like selective stamping.
Here you can see the card completely opened. The barn stands up in the centre of the card, which is a fun surprise for the recipient.
You can see the barn doors are closed in the photo below ...
... and they slide open to reveal a hay bale and rooster. I adhered the rooster sticker to white card stock then fussy cut him and attached him to the hay bale.
Here is the back of the barn...
You will want to see all the wonderful projects by the rest of the Designer Challenge team; their blogs are linked to the right. Karen Burniston will have her post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog on Wednesday (May 13th) so be sure to check that out.
