Heart Flowers - Valentine Card

I love this heart flowers stamp - they just call to me to colour in the open hearts. :-)

The card base is a soft grey linen sized at 4.5 x 6, and a side fold - just for something a little different. I also really like the way the 'Happy Valentine's Day' element worked out, with the circle and fancy label punches.

Easter Card for Freshly Made Sketch #72

I am going to need some Easter cards, so thought I'd play along with the Freshly Made Sketch this week:

However, I'm not that thrilled with it. I was bound and determined to use this patterned paper, but decided not to make multiples of this layout.

I used a doily die and acetate butterfly that matches the paper nicely but I was much happier with the cards I made using the sketch at Seize The Birthday.  Since it has to be a birthday card to qualify for that challenge, I won't be posting those cards on the site - or even here on my blog until it's closer to Easter.  :-)

Western Birthday Card

I wanted to share the birthday card I made for our niece ... she came to Calgary for our Stampede this past summer and had a great time. And she LOVED her card!

I cut it out with my Cricut, and added some patterned paper as well.

I made a matching envelope, but the paper cracked and tore along the top fold. But I ended up liking the look so used it anyways.

We gave her a gift card, so I used my Papertrey Ink gift card holder die and coordinating paper for it.

I see there is a new sketch up at Freshly Made Sketches, AND Seize The Birthday ... I'm hoping to get some time to play along.

Matchbox Birthday $$ Holder

Yesterday I shared the card I made for our Son In Law's birthday ... and today I will share the little box I made to hold his gift. I kicked myself for not getting the Stampin' Up Matchbox Die when it was available. I know I can cut one on my Cricut, but the sizing is off just a little, making the bottom too loose. Yes I can fiddle with the sizing but there was just something about the Stampin' Up die.

Imagine how happy I was when it made an appearance on the Clearance Rack! I immediately placed my order and am now the happy owner of the Matchbox Die!!

I cut the box portion from white card stock and the top wrapper from a hunter green embossed piece. All the stamping was coloured loosely with Copic markers.

I even added a stamped/coloured panel to the inside of the box. The $$ barely fits ... I ended up rolling it up and angling it corner to corner. Such a unique presentation, and I know he won't have seen it before.

Oh, there are just SO many possibilities for this matchbox and it goes together in a snap. Happy Happy Happy!

Cutaway Birthday Card

Today, in time for Masculine Card Monday, I have the birthday card I made for our Son In Law.

I used my Cricut and SCAL to cut out the word 'happy' and it's shadow - both from white card stock. Before attaching the two together I coloured the word with copic markers.

A peek at the inside:

The Birthday portion was also Cricut cut using Scal. I lined up the letters along the bottom edge and welded everything together. This was my first time doing this and I was quite pleased with how it turned out!

I Cricut cut an envelope using the same patterned paper.

He is saving up for a new (professional) camera, so we gave him $$ for his birthday. Tomorrow's share will be the little box I made to put his gift in.

Card for Dynamic Duo's #38

I have a card to share today, using the colour challenge at Dynamic Duo's:

Red and Pink ... perfect colours for Valentine's day. So I made a Valentine!

The hearts were all Cricut cut from pink, with their shadows cut from red card stock.  I had them cut out from last Valentine's Day so unfortunately don't remember which cartridge. But this card has me wanting to use my Cricut more - it has been sadly underused the past 8 months.

The white scallop border was also Cricut cut ... this time I remember using the Plantain Schoolbook cartridge. Words by Verve.

Ethan's First Birthday Card

I used the sketch & challenge to make a masculine card at Seize The Birthday, to make our Grandson's first birthday card.

The card will be hand delivered, so I was free to make it a full 6" square, and pile on the embellishments & foam tape. I'm having fun using that package of chipboard animal stickers from our local dollar store!

Since I used the "Look Who Is Turning One"on the birthday card I made for my parents to give Ethan, I had to come up with something different on the front of ours. So I used my PTI die and cut out the letters for his name.  I like how it personalizes the card - and have to remember to do that more often.

I added the 'one' to the card inside...    :-)

...and decorated the envelope as well.
