Peace On Earth Card

Good morning friends.

While I usually post a Flip-It card on Friday's, I haven't had a chance to upload photos of my new Christmas ones yet. Being busy with Christmas preparations, and with Dad in the hospital I don't know when I will get them done, either ... I might just be sharing Christmas cards in the New Year too!

Today's share is another older card with a stamp that I love using.

I stamped it with black Momento ink on a white panel, and I added colour with water colour pencils & a damp paintbrush.  I matted the panel with a green & blue patterned paper and then to the front of the card.

A Christmas verse was stamped inside and the card was finished.

"JOY" Ornament Cards

Good morning friends.

Before I share the cards, I wanted to show you a picture of our two year old Granddaughter Olivia. With Dad being in the hospital I wasn't sure I even wanted to put up a Christmas tree this year. Gregg did though, and I found a box of plastic canvas stitched ornaments I'd made many (many!) years ago. I had Olivia and Ethan decorate the tree for me, and Olivia was SO excited to do it. Ethan just took off with one of the ornaments, but hey - he was happy too.  :-)

Our tree is decorated as high as she could reach, and only in the front and let me say it's the Best Christmas Tree Ever. It makes me smile every time I look at it. I haven't changed a thing.

I have three cards to share today, using a fun sparkly Christmas paper pack. I make Christmas cards all year long, since I send out so many and I also keep my Mom supplied with Christmas cards. These ones were made very early in the year!  I used the Tim Holtz Ornament Die with the JOY Movers & Shapers insert to create the embellishments. I backed the words with white card stock and tied a little Bakers Twine around the top before popping it up.

This next duo is an A2 card and a 4" square card. I tied ribbon around the top of these two ornaments, and popped them up with foam tape. The papers all have a bit of sparkle and shine to them.

I just love these ornament dies - and use them frequently on my Christmas cards.

Snowflakes and Greens Pop 'n Cut Card

Good morning friends - I'm afraid I don't have much of an update on my Dad. He continues to be confused, forgets that we visit him and tells visitors we don't bother coming. He isn't able to bear weight and stand yet, but at least his modified diet has his choking and coughing under control. We have no idea how long he will remain in the hospital before he is transferred wherever he is to go next.

I do have a card to share today, a shimmery Pop 'n Cut card ...

It was hard to capture all the sparkle in the patterned paper  and the die cut snowflake, but it's there. I also added two punched circles on the label, using Stampin' Up's Glimmer Paper.

While the card base is a 4 x 6-1/2" scalloped card, I used Karen Burniston's A2 Pop 'n Cut card base with the Wavy Label insert for the inside. It was cut out of white pearlized Bazzill card stock and embossed with a snowflake embossing folder.

The tree had been Cricut cut and sitting in my Christmas "Odds and Sods" pile so I cut a little notch in the pop out portion to insert the tree stem so the tree didn't stick out the bottom of the card when it was closed. I added lots of glitter glue to the tree portion for more sparkle and shine.

The Christmas greeting was stamped on the coordinating Wavy Label framelits, and I added a 2nd one as a place to add a penned greeting and our signatures.

(Remember you can always see my Sizzix Flip-it, Pop N Cut and Accordion Flip cards by looking on the right side of my blog under LABELS then scrolling down to the 'S' section.)

Blue Deer Christmas Cards

I have lots of Christmas cards & tags to share, and will do that in the next couple of weeks. I can't promise to post every day for awhile, as things with my Dad are still up in the air. He remains in hospital, good days and not-so-good days, and the future is uncertain. I will post when can though as I miss posting!

I have some older Christmas cards to share today ...

I only had a little of the sparkly tree patterned paper left, but managed to stretch it enough to make four A2 sized cards.  The pretty green paper is actually Stardream, which has a pearlized finish to it. The deer (Tim Holtz) were cut from Ocean Tides card stock (Papertrey Ink) which is nice and sturdy.

Each card got a punched snowflake, and three of them have scalloped borders (My Favorite Things die).

Taking a Break

Hello friends - I've decided I need to take a little break from blog posts.

My Dad is not doing well and my heart is just not into talking about Christmas cards right now.

I'll resume posting as soon as I'm feeling up to it.

Four Wine Bottle Hangers

Good morning friends ... I'm going to 'cut and paste' my Facebook post here:

Yesterday's update on Dad wasn't very encouraging. They are still trying to figure out why he continues to have blood in his urine, and they sent him for a cat-scan this afternoon in case he bumped his head as well when he fell. The Dr. is concerned about how slow Dad's speech is and wants to be sure it's only the Parkinson's and not a brain injury. Dad was very groggy, and while he knew Mom and Glen were there, he wasn't really communicating. Tomorrow is another day.

Today's share is a group of random Wine Bottle Hangers I made a couple of weeks ago ...

I know they don't match each other, but they won't be going to the same house at the same time anyhow.

This first one uses a Karen Burniston embossing folder and a segment of her coordinating border die. The black is actually charcoal grey Stardream, which has a beautiful pearlized finish.  I added a few flat gem stickers for some sparkle and shine.

I used another one of Karen Burniston's embossing folders for this 2nd Wine Bottle Hanger, stamping words on the blank label area. The die cut martini glass was outlined with a Sakura gel pen for some sparkle and I added more of the flat gem stickers to mimic bubbles. I know martini's don't bubble ... artistic license, you know.

On the third one, this music background paper is completely sparkly and shimmery. It was just a scrap leftover from another project and it fit perfectly on the Wine Bottle Hanger! The 'Cheers'  is by Stampin' Up ... I love that fun set.  Another die cut glass (MFT) and more sticker 'bubbles' on this one ...

On the final Wine Bottle Hanger,  I added strips of Glimmer Paper, as well as cutting the glass out of the same paper. LOVE how it looks, but I've said before how much I like the Stampin' Up Glimmer Paper. A staple in my studio now.

Christmas Candy Canes & Greenery

I think it's safe to say that yesterday was not a very good day.  My dad fell and broke his hip, so we were back and forth to the hospital. Hoping for a quick recovery, and getting more information today on what they actually did during his surgery yesterday.

I have two holiday cards to share today, made using some pretty patterned paper and a scalloped card die. I like the size of these cards - 4-1/2" x 6".

The greeting was embossed in gold on the front, and I added red glitter glue along the winding ribbon.  Inside, I added a panel and a scalloped border to give it some stability.  The border was cut using the card die, I just added a strip over the scalloped end and ran it through my Big Shot.

For the second card, I used the same scalloped card die and pale green card stock for the base, then cut a 2nd scalloped panel from the candy cane print paper. That piece was trimmed down on three sides, then attached to the card as well as some Washi Tape and a strip of patterned paper.

Two more cards ready to send over the holidays!

Supplies used:
Scalloped Card die - Sizzix
Patterned Paper - K & Co
Inside stamp greeting - MFT
Seasons Greetings stamp - Stampin' Up
Gold embossing powder
Washi Tape fro my stash
Stickles Glitter Glue
