Designer Challenge Accordion Card - April 2015

Good morning friends

Today is Day 1 of the April 2015 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge. It's a fun one too - here is Karen's challenge:

APRIL - ACCORDIONS WITH DC TEAM & FRIENDS - April 13, 14, 15  Between us and your guests we'll have 21 albums for the post! The theme is wide open and you can decide if you and your guest are coordinating your projects or not. Any Accordion die, any number of pages. Stacked, doubled, etc. - all fair game. Fun! You and your guest post April 13-14. My post will be on the 15th.

I chose my former Elizabeth Craft Designs Teammate Jackie Smith (a fellow Canadian), and you will see her Accordion tomorrow. Her blog is: Stamping 4 You   I always looked forward to Jackie's posts on the ECD Blog, as she has amazing way with texture and layers on her cards.

Since we are both dog people, we decided we'd both use Buster the Dog and I went with a beach theme. Jackie has a new puppy - Gracie - and I styled Buster to resemble not-so-little Gracie! Here is the accordion card opened up so you can see all 4 pages ...

... and here it is closed and ready to pop in an envelope. Actually, I will be putting this one in a clear envelope as it's just to cool to hide in a solid white envelope!

I chose not to use any Accordion Frame Edges for this card, instead cutting the Accordion again from patterned paper and trimming it down on each side.

The first two pages feature beach necessities using different Props dies. I'd like to point on the beer/soda bottles in the pail though, because I made them using the bottom of the party blower from the Props 2 set. Once they were attached to the card, I realized they would have looked better with the edges inked, and even better with glossy accents!  Next time.  :-) The bottle caps were quickly added with a silver marker, and the labels are simply white pencil crayon outlined with a fine black pen.

The H B D was computer generated, then cut out with the banner from Lots of Pops and adhered over Bakers Twine. Teammate Helen Cryer is the Queen of Bunting in my opinion, and I borrowed this idea from her.

Below are the last two pages. We have 'Gracie' sitting on the beach with palm fronts that were cut from the Palm Tree and adhere to the rectangle. The bow, collar and nose were cut from scraps of glitter paper from my stash.  I computer generated the words on the final panel.

Here you can see the back side of the Accordion.

Remember to check out Jackie's blog tomorrow (click HERE) and Karen Burniston will have her post up on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog on Wednesday morning.
