'Happy Day' Flip-It Card

Good morning friends!

Thank you to Carole at Paper Pastimes for having me yesterday to do a demo on Karen Burniston's Pop it Ups dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. It was a lot of fun, and I appreciate all the ladies who came out to see how the dies worked and how much fun they are to work with.

I don't have a Pop it Up card to share today, because it's "Flip-It Friday' here on my blog.  :-)

I used a gold metallic card stock with some patterned paper and lovely, glittered 3-d stickers to make the cards.

The labels were cut with one of the dies and stitched frames in Karen Burniston's older Snippets collection.

Supplies used:
Majestic Label Flip It die - Stephanie Barnard (Sizzix)
3-d stickers - K & Co
Word stamp - Technique Tuesday
Label - Labels and Stitched Frames, Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Patterned paper - Recollections
Score Pal for Envelope

A Boy and his Bunny

Good morning friends!

Thank you to all the wonderful ladies who came to my Pop it Ups Demo at Paper Pastimes last night.  It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed sharing with you. I am doing another demo this morning, and wanted to show one of the sample cards I made for Carole to have at the store.

The card is an A2 size, so I snipped off a few branches from the tree so it would fit without hanging over. I love that those clouds can also be the foliage on the tree!

Just look at those ADORABLE images ... they are one of my new stamp sets from Tiddly Inks, and I can promise you that I'll be using more and more of them.  I work ahead a fair bit, so it might be awhile before they start to show up here but I AM using them as often as I can. This past weekend, I stamped and water coloured 5 different images to snip out and have ready.  :-)

Finally, the views from the top and the back ...

Before I list the supplies, here are pictures of the dies I used:

Beautiful Butterfly Pivot Card

Good morning friends!

It's no secret that I love butterflies, so when I found out that one of the die sets in Karen Burniston's new Pop it Ups collection for Elizabeth Craft Designs was a BUTTERFLY? Well I was pretty excited. Then she showed me the lacy layers and the butterfly body dies that would be included.  Can you say SWOON?

I had been hoarding this lovely chalkboard print double sided paper for something special, and the Pop it Ups Butterfly Pivot was just the thing to showcase it.  I am doing a Pop it Ups demo tonight at Paper Pastimes in Calgary, and this is one of the sample cards I am bringing to show the ladies.

The card is 4-1/2 x 6.  I cut just the front with one of the Agatha Edges, which means the pink solid paper shows through when the card is closed. I added a pretty black Peel-Off border sticker and a cluster of die cut flowers/leaves in the bottom corner.

You will notice that this butterfly shape is similar to Karen Burniston's previous Pop 'n Cuts line ... she didn't want her PNC customers to feel ignored when she made the switch to Elizabeth Craft Designs, so if you happen to have some of those older dies - these butterflies can be used with them. Karen thought of everything when she was designing these ... I've said it before and will say it again I'm sure.

The butterflies pivot to the inside when the card is opened, where I added a couple more tiny die cut butterflies and a layered label.  The Pop it Ups dies come WITH the decorator dies for layering and embellishing, so I had all the butterfly layers I needed for this card in the single set. The labels though,  are from the Katie Label Pivot die set.

To bring in some of the floral pattern from the front of the card, I cut two narrow strips of floral paper and attached them on either side of the inside fold. This also gives the card a little more stability when the paper you use isn't as sturdy as you would like it.

I have not used many Peel-Offs over the years, but I have to say that I am finding more and more uses for them. See those tiny butterflies? I added small pieces of a black border Peel-Off as their 'bodies'. They catch the light when the card is turned, and it will be kind of an unexpected surprise for the recipient.

Supplies used:
767 Butterfly Pivot Die - Pop it Ups, Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
767 Katie Label Pivot (Labels) - Pop it Ups, Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Flower die -728, Elizabeth Craft Designs
Leaf Die - 730, Elizabeth Craft Designs
Border Sticker - 1167, Elizabeth Craft Designs
Patterned paper - We R Memory Keepers
Scrap of charcoal Stardream paper (for butterfly body)

Two Baby Boy Accordion Cards

Good morning friends!

Today I have two baby cards to share, using the new Pop it Ups dies by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

The cards are nearly identical ... I cut this first one, then stamped and coloured the duck and the mouse image. I laid them out on the Fancy Frame Accordion and didn't like that both images were facing the same direction. I still wanted to use both of them, since I was in the mood for a baby boy card ... so I decided to cut two more Fancy Frame Accordion panels and make two cards.

Here is the first card closed. The little duck pivots around to the front so I usually like to add a little somethin' somethin' so it looks more finished.  In this case I added two yellow borders cut with the Fancy Frame edges.

Here is what the back of the card looks like. I stamped the word 'baby' on one of the labels that come with the Lucy Label Pop Up set, then stamped the rest of the greeting below that.

A few hand snipped banners, a button and a piece of silk ribbon adorn the top left corner.

The card from the back ... I used one of the leftover hearts from a different baby card to decorate one of the back panels. We can hand-write our message on the remaining one.

Here is a look at the 2nd card.  I used the Fancy Frame Edge die in the way it was intended on this card ... cutting 4 and attaching them one by one over the Accordion page.  I love the perfectly mitered corners on these frame dies, AND that you get three different ones to choose from in the package.  I also attached a pretty scalloped washi tape border on two of the card stock strips before I die cut it.

This card also has a button and that lovely silk ribbon ...

The inside was done the same as the first card, and I added a punched heart to the back of one of the panels.

Before I list the supplies, here are some packaging pictures of the Pop it Ups dies I used on these cards:

Heart punch - Stampin' Up

Love is in the Air

Good morning friends!

Today's share is the card I sent to Sue for February 1st.  (Sue and I live in cities a couple of hours apart and we pop something in the mail to each other on the first of each month). Happy Mail!

I absolutely loved making this card. I did it back in November and it was hard waiting to send it to her. I used lots of dies for this card, but that little bird one takes the cake.

I love the shape of the little heart - it's from the House Framelit set that is for the Pop 'n Cut House insert. I just loaded up the 'sky' with lots of these die cut hearts  - easy to do when you have lots of scraps from the paper stack.

I added a little hand lettering and I was done ...

Just a fun little card - I hope that she enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Supplies used:
A2 Pop 'n Cut base with Sassy Label Insert - Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Cloud die - Memory Box
Heart die - from the House Framelit set (Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Bird die - Sizzix
Border die - Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Patterned Paper - Crate Paper
